Farin
I found this list today and thought that it could lead to an interesting discussion. The 7 Worst Albums By Awesome Bands agree? disagree? and most importantly... do you know any other examples?
TheLizard
I'd say that the Red Album is worse than the Green Album. Also, The Final Cut and Pablo Honey aren't as bad as people say they are. 1 and 2 are spot on, though.
Farin
I'd say that the Red Album is worse than the Green Album. I haven't even listened to that one yet, besides the singles that admittedly grabbed my attention more because of the videos than the songs... so it's not too good, huh? TheLizard
It's really not up to par at all. The only really interesting song is "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived", just because it's so overblown and ridiculous.
Viaene
I don't know about the others, but Pablo Honey wasn't that good if you compare it to their other albums. What do you think about the spaghetti incident (G 'n R)? I was about to rent if from the library, but eventually didn't.
TheLizard
You made the right choice regarding the Spaghetti Incident.

phil
Bob Dylan's Self Portrait album is pretty bad.
MindCrime
Did you read the 'honorable mentions' ?
Tenacious_Peaches
They can kiss my foot, I love me some Santana with Rob Thomas.
10000Days
They forgot Death Magnetic...
Ombre Vivante
Radiohead hasn't made a good album since Amnesiac. Pablo Honey is way better than the last two for sure. Honourable mention: Ultra and Exciter by DeMode. Those two break a good chronology of good to great albums in their 30-year career.
Farin
Did you read the 'honorable mentions' ? I have to admit, I hadn't noticed them and "Monster" is one of my favourites R.E.M. albums "Vitalogy" maybe isn't their best, but: Spin the Black Circle, Not For You, Corduroy, Better Man, Immortality? a 'bad' album would have a different tracklist
blind-fitter
Killing Joke are probably, if push came to shove, my favourite band of all time; I'd definitely rate them as "awesome". But their two mid-80s efforts, "Brighter Than A Thousand Suns" and "Outside The Gate", are both totally pants.
Space Cowboy
in regards to the Honorable mentions, i know Pearl Jam has put out a few albums far worse than Vitalogy. Maybe i was just young, but when Metallica's Load came out i thought it wasn't too bad, of course maybe there is a reason that I haven't listend to it since then. What about Kiss's dico album. I'm not in the KISS army or anything, but the fact they did a disco album should rank 'em 1 on that list
Farin
in regards to the Honorable mentions, i know Pearl Jam has put out a few albums far worse than Vitalogy. I thought about it and I think "Pearl Jam" and "No Code" would deserve that more than Vitalogy
Farin
R.E.M.'s Around the Sun... no comment Reveal, maybe... but it had some good moments
MindCrime
They're right about "One Hot Minute" by the Chili Peppers, that album was mostly terrible and Dave Navarro didn't belong in that band.
Udo
I still say Rush's Counterparts takes the cake. I just can't listen to anything on the album at all, and I like just about all their other material.
Levis
I like One Hot Minute! Also I think PJ's last album was less good than No Code.
Space Cowboy
i think pearl jam has just slowly and consistently deteriorated, i didn't mind one hot minute as well. I like it better than their last 2 albums. they're another band i have come to like less w/ time
Batman
People just think of Pablo Honey as a bad album because it's not one of the greatest albums of all time, so by Radiohead's standards it's not good.
Ombre Vivante
If I were to pick Radiohead's worst album it would be Hail To The Thief. Booooring. I think I only listened to it three or four times in its full-length before I completely gave up on it as a turkey
MindCrime
"Midnite Vultures" by Beck was pretty bland when compared to his other stuff.
Farin
"Midnite Vultures" by Beck was pretty bland when compared to his other stuff. that's true, even though I have to admit I'm not much of a fan of Mellow Gold either
