Aunt_Acid
Now I know this may be farfetched, but is there any way you guys could work out having a chord chart and tablature chart here on songfacts. It would be a great idea, although it might take a lot of work. Here's my suggestion. You ask the musician songfacts users to submit chords and tabs they already know, and then get a little database started, then make a seperate section on songfacts for the chords/ tabs. We have been talking about it in the thread "Roundabout by Yes" in Questions and Answers. I know it sounds like a strech, but I think it could be pulled off. I don't know, if you think it soudns like do-able, PM me. If not, PM me. I have one song, but I could figure out a ton more.
beatleant
I hear ya. The only thing I can do is... 022032 = Dm9 (that chord you mentioned for 'Dogs')
Aunt_Acid
I don't know tablature, so I wouldn't be able to help you guys there, but I can figure out chords, and I know theory pretty well. I have always been sick of going to one site for lyrics, another site for analysis and meaning, yet another site for discussions on the song, and a different site for chords. It would be so great to have it all contained on one site. This could be that site, so I hope this works. No more looking around on different sites. Imagine there's no searching. It's easy if you try. No site for lyrics. No site to talk about why. Imagine all the lyrics, chords, and threads right here. Imagine there's no hassle, it isn't hard to do, nothing to look around for, no frustration too. Imagine all the info, in one single world.. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope some day, you'll join us, and the site will be number one.
cosmosis
I know a few chords here and there. I think if we start this, more musicians will join and help. Kinda like the snowball effect. :guitar:
Sara
I like the idea. I like your rendition of Imagine, the Songfacts version, even better! We'll have to look into the legal issues as well as the feasability from a technical standpoint. If anyone has any advice please let us know. Aunt_Acid
Well you could get around it by saying that is a non-profit organization to teach chord progressions to aspiring musicians. Of course, that would only be necessary if there was some fandango with the law. So far, I have never heard of any prosecutions of sites with tablature. It's like unofficial teaching of chord theory. You can't get in trouble, since technically you aren't making money by posting these Chords and Tabs, and any money that is donated is for the sole purpose of improving the site. Even if that's not true, the only people being cheated out on that would be the record companies and the RIAA, because of the royalties they get for sheet music. And frankly, they have cheated us a little bit too. And I think a thing like this would benefit everyone. Well that is my take on it. I wouldn't listen to me though, I'm pretty dangerous. Aunt_Acid
Well I am just going to post this here and see what happens. Great Gig in the Sky Note for piano: Use the sustain pedal for each chord. Bm F Bb F (Bass plays an A note) Gm7 C7/G Gm7 C7/G Fmaj7 Bbmaj7 Ebmaj7 Cm7 F7 Bbmaj7 Ebmaj7 Bb (Piano runs up and down arpeggio) [Gm7 C7/G] ? Repeat these two chords until the end of the vocal solo Aaug (Bass plays F note) F#7 Bm (Piano runs up and down arpeggio, coming down, start on F#, run it down until the next octave, and then the notes are E D C#) Bm F Bb F (Bass plays an A note) Gm7 C7/G Gm7 C7/G Fmaj7 Bbmaj7 Ebmaj7 Cm7 F7 Bbmaj7 Ebmaj7 Bb (Piano runs up and down arpeggio) [Gm7 C7/G] ? Repeat these two chords until the end of the song. End on Gm7, and as it fades away, bend the pitch up one step, then back down.
Jillianne
I have a really nice Disney song for piano, its really easy, but I dont know how I should put on here, their is a lot of quavers and minums, will i just put the tabs?
Aunt_Acid
Well really, I never see sites with the notes on there. I mean they can tell you the notes to play but it would be hard to say which was an eight note and which was a sixteenth note and such. I would reccomend just putting the chords, although if you wanted you could probably come up with some clever way to write out the melody line. Carl
I think the risk/reward on this one makes it not worth the effort, at least right now. A lot of people might find it helpful, but we haven't been able to sort out the legal issues and it would require a fair amount of code.

I just started learning the bass on my own about 6 mos. ago. If anyone has something easy for me to play please send! I can play 'money' by Pink Floyd and a few 'Hole' songs. Love to learn something new!! :guitar:
