There are bands and female artists from Canada that are also awesome IMO. You often can't help but grin as they seriously inform you about household perils such as the toaster, and tell you the true story of the Loch Ness monster. On the other hand, when you listen to God Shuffled His Feet, it's difficult to ignore the fact that the lyrics are not as light-hearted as they sound. More puzzling is the way Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm carries a similar intensity. You can't pinpoint what it is about the combination of lyrics and music that makes the song so 'profound.' I first got hooked on Bryan Adams when I heard his song Straight From The Heart. It wasn't his first song by any means but it was the first one that I really paid attention to. He is a singer, songwriter, musician and photographer. He was born November 5, 1959 in Kingston, Ontario Canada. He had photos published in Vouge, Vanity Fair and Haper's Bazaar among others. He also done a book of photos with Calvin Klein, the proceeds of which were donated to Cancer research. Lea Posted July 21, 2008 Report Share Posted July 21, 2008 Source Jeff Healey (born Norman Jeffrey Healey, March 25,1966 – March 2, 2008) was a blind Canadian jazz and blues-rock guitarist and vocalist. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Healey was raised in the city's west end. He was adopted as an infant, his adoptive father was a firefighter. Healey lost his sight when he was eight months old to retinoblastoma, a rare cancer of the eyes. He began playing guitar when he was three, developing his unique style of playing the instrument flat on his lap. Though known primarily as a guitarist, Healey also played trumpet during live performances. After being signed to Arista Records in 1988,the band released the album See The Light, featuring the hit single " Angel Eyes " and the song" Hideaway ", which was nominated for a "Best Instrumental" Grammy Award. While the band was recording "See The Light", they were also filming(and recording for the soundtrack of) the Patrick Swayze film Road House. In 1990 the band won the "Entertainer of the Year" Juno Award. Other hits have included "How Long Can a Man Be Strong" and a cover of The Beatles' " While My Guitar Gently Weeps " (which also featured George Harrison and Jeff Lynne on backing vocals and acoustic guitar). By the release of the 2000 album, "Get Me Some" Healey had grown weary of the world of rock music, and began to concentrate his considerable talents in a direction closer to his heart, hot jazz. He went on to release three CDs of music from this true passion, traditional American jazz from the 1920s and 1930s. He was an avid record collector and amassed a collection of well over 30,000 78 rpm records. Over the years he toured and sat-in with many legendary performers, including, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, BB King, ZZ Top, Steve Lukather, Eric Clapton and many, many more. In 2006, Healey appeared on Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan's CD/DVD Gillan's Inn. Jump forward to Los Angeles, California, the year 1968. A couple of personel changes, and a very important name change later, STEPPENWOLF was born: Along with a handful of others, Steppenwolf helped spawn a newer, more raw sound. A sound later called Heavy Metal. Whatever the label, Steppenwolf, with John Kay's distinctive vocals and the bands hard driving sound, was responsible for probably the most recognizable anthem of the times: Steppenwolf in concert / Born to be Wild. The film Easy Rider became the defining film for a generation, and Born to be Wild is the song most closely associated with that film. The Henman brothers, David and Ritchie, got together with their cousin Jim Henman and fellow musician Myles Goodwyn to form a band called April Wine, a name chosen simply because they were two words that sounded good together. Fifteen studio albums, three live releases, numerous compilations, a boxed set and thousands of concerts later April Wine has become enormously popular in Canada, the United States and throughout the world.
