Led Zeppelin's "Traveling Riverside Blues" mentions their own song "The Lemon Song":

Squeeze my lemon 'til the juice runs down my leg

Squeeze it so hard, I'll fall right out of bed

Squeeze my lemon, 'til the juice runs down my leg

I wonder if you know what I'm talkin' about

Oh, but the way that you squeeze it girl

I swear I'm gonna fall right out of bed

I did even more research (Wikipedia) finding the 'lemon squeezing' lyrics to be traced back to Robert Johnson's "Traveling Riverside Blues" who borrowed those lyrics from "She Squeezed My Lemon" by Arthur McKay.

"Walk of Life" by Dire Straits mentions "Be-Bop-a Lula" by Gene Vincent and Ray Charles' "What'd I Say" and "I Gotta Woman".

Here comes Johnny singing oldies, goldies

Be-Bop-A-Lula, Baby What I Say

Here comes Johnny singing I Gotta Woman

Down in the tunnels, trying to make it pay

Hanson's "Penny And Me" references Joe Cocker's "Feelin' Alright", Aaron Carter's "To All The Girls" mentions Outkast's "Rosa Parks", LFO's "Summer Girls" mentions New Edition's "Candy Girl", and George Harrison's "When We Was Fab" references both "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" (done by both The Beatles and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles) and Badfinger's "Baby Blue", but I can't believe no one mentioned Oasis' "Morning Glory", which references The Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows"!

Steve Perry's Captured by the Moment mentions:

Let It Be by the Beatles

Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin

Sand Castles by Jimi Hendrix

Try a Little Tenderness by Otis Redding

though not always by name. Apologies if I misnamed the songs.

Bleed Like Me - Garbage

JT gets all f...ed up in some karaoke bar

After two drinks he's a loser after three drinks he's a star

Getting all nostalgic as he sings "I Will Survive"

Hey baby can you bleed like me?

C'mon baby can you bleed like me

Hey baby can you bleed like me?

Oh, c'mon baby can you bleed like me

Paul sings "Yesterday"? :P I never heard it, cyber... I´ll listen to it... but I know that song since 1967... And it´s Ringo who sings the "she loves you yeah..." line. :)

Actually, edna, cyber was (partly) right! (John sings "Yesterday.") See "What Goes On: The Beatles Anomalies List's" Discussion of the matter. In short, Paul Starts it, then John joins, seeing that he didn't have enough breath to start singing SLY,Y,Y,Y after singing "Love is All You need." To see the rest of the site go to What Goes On's Home PAGE

Back on topic, do songs that didn't ever reallt exist count? For Example, in "An English teacher," from Bye Bye Birdie, Rosie sings,

"When You Wrote Conrad's first hit Ugga Bugga Boo Then I knew! That was it! You were thru with English Forever!"

Oh, and by the way I played a part in the local high school production of "BBB".

I'll allow it. :strikes gavel:

Meanwhile, I was just listening to Garden Party by Rick Nelson.

Yoko brought her Walrus

Said hello to Mary Lou, she belongs to me

Out stepped Johnny B. Goode, playing guitar like a-ringin' a bell, looking like he should

He also mentions Dylan, but I'm not sure if there's a song reference in there.

Guilty Conscience by Eminem makes a reference to his song 97' Bonnie & Clyde in which he throws his wife in the lake and kidnaps his daughter.

Okay! Thought about it, still wanna stab her?

Grab her by the throat, get your daughter and kidnap her?

That's what I did, be smart, don't be a retard.
