MuzikTyme
I'll be the first to apologize if this has been brought up before. If it has, let me know so I'll merge it into the original thread. My point is that this is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The acting was superb, IMO, as well as the costumes, relations to the Mayan language and downright gruesomeness. Yes, I wish I had of seen this movie sooner. What think you? "Almost?" Epilogue and quote: "I shall peel his skin while he dies and make him watch me wear it." No great civilization was ever defeated unless it was lost first from within itself... Mayans are a great example.
Ombre Vivante
Very strange, very violent - and an epic in both aspects. I loved it meself. The costumes were really elaborate and I love Gibson's insistence of doing it all in a regional dialect. However, I can't help but think that some viewers will derive their opinion of the real history of the group of peoples (encompassed as "Maya") from this one movie. One must recall this is fiction based on various ideas taken from not only the different Mayan cultures, but also the Aztecs. Good movie, though. I also recommend Nelson Pereira Dos Santos's Como Era Gostoso O Meu Frances ("How Tasty Was My Frenchman").
