Thanks for looking, and please let us know if you come across the article.

Just about every Rap song contains a defamatory statement against various (usually unnamed) MCs.

Here's a link to our "Songs about people who turned against you" category, which contains some defamation:

So that's The Official Story? A Blues guitar player from California said that "Vantz Kant Dance" was about MONEY. Specifically, that Mr. Zaentz had sold CCR on an offshore investment, then left them holding an empty sack when the fund crashed, financially. (Zaentz had gotten HIS assets out long before the collapse, of course.) This led to some acrimony, with John Fogerty relinquishing future residuals from CCR recordings to break his contract with Fantasy records. As a solo singer/songwriter, he penned the tale about the larcenous pig. But maybe it's just an urban legend, since Zaentz did in fact sue John Fogerty over "Old Man Down The Road." :beatnik:

"Rotten To The Core" by Rudimentary Peni is a searing attack on the hypocrisy of John Lydon and Joe Strummer.

Lyric

Have you realised that Rock Stars

Always seem to lie so much?

John Lydon once said he cared

But he never really gave a f**k

Said he'd use the money he made

So the kids would have somewhere to go

But now he lives in the USA

and snorts coke after the show.

Why is it that Rock Stars

Always seem to lie so much?

Joe Strummer once said he cared,

but he never really gave a f**k

Said he'd use the money he made

To set up a radio station

To make the airwaves full of something more than sh*t,

Have you noticed we're still waiting?

You must realise that Rock Stars

Always seem to lie so much

Some will always tell you that they care,

But they don't really give a f**k,

Still you suckers don't ever learn

That rock stars deal in money not truth

It's good business to exploit you

Just look at Lydon or Strummer for proof.

Silly Love Songs was one of Paul's biggest US hits, a #1 for 5 weeks. It was a response to a comment by John that the only songs Paul wrote for the Beatles were "silly love songs". See Silly Love Songs SF page .

Thank you, CJ... I remember they were constantly fighting on the medias and through songs and pictures... Lennon´s interview for Rolling Stone in the early seventies revealed a lot.

I found the famous interview here . You can listen to John Lennon talking with Jann Wenner.

John wins... "Silly Love Songs" sucks.

...absolutelly.

Dio

Tenacious D

Dio has rocked (echo: rocked) for a long, long time,

Now it's time for him to pass the torch.

He has songs of wilderbeasts and angels,

He has soared on the wings of a demon.

It's time to pass the torch,

You're too old to rock, no more rockin' for you.

We're takin' you to a home,

But we will sing a song about you.

And we will make sure that you're very well taken care of.

You'll tell us secrets that you've learned. Woah!

Your sauce will mix with ours,

And we'll make a good goulash baby.

Dio, time to go!

You must give your cape and scepter to me.

And a smaller one for KG.

Go! Go! Dio! Dio!
