RonJonSurfer
Meatloaf Voted Driver's Choice Meatloaf's rock anthem "Bat Out Of Hell" has been voted the all-time best driving song by British motorists. The 1979 track came top of a poll of more than 2,000 motorists in the U.K. Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" came in at number two, with Steppenwolf's "Born To Be Wild" at number three and "Don't Stop Me Now," also by Queen, at number four. Otokichi
Although it's been associated with motorcycles, "Easy Rider" and Drugs, "Born To Be Wild" is a driving song. I've heard that a 1960's Ford Falcon was the car, and the freedom to travel anywhere on the road is evident in the lyrics.
cyberjudge
Oops. Left out "No Particular Place to Go"-Chuck Berry Riding along in my automobile My baby beside me at the wheel I stole a kiss at the turn of a mile my curiosity running wild crusin' and playin' the radio with no particular place to go Riding along in my automobile I's anxious to tell her the way I feel So I told her softly and sincere and she leaned and whispered in my ear cuddlin' more and drivin' slow with no particular place to go No particular place to go So we parked way out on ko-ko-mo The night was young and the moon was gold So we both decided to take a stroll Can you image the way I felt I couldn't unfasten her safety belt Riding along in my calaboose Still trying to get her belt a-loose all the way home I held a grudge for the safety belt that wouldn't budge Crusin' and playing the radio with no particular place to go Also "Route 66"-Nat King Cole
Lambchop Flansburgh
Yeah, I've gotta agree with cyberjudge over those English voters. How do you pick Meatloaf over Chuck Berry? Did someone put something in their tea or what?

Ken
J. Geils Band live, "Hard Driving Man" into "Whammer Jammer" is awesome for pushing the speed envelope. Blues Brother's version of "I Can't Turn You Loose" makes me want to be on the open highway with a lot of cops behind me.

Steel2Velvet
I always thought Riders On The Storm - The Doors a great night driving song and I really like the feel of traveling through a wide open plains area when listening to Wicked Game - Chris Issacs.
