With great pride, Columbia Records announces Bob Dylan was awarded an honorary Pulitzer Prize on Monday, April 7, making history as the first rock and roll artist to be honored. Singer, songwriter, author, musician, and poet, was recognized for his "profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power."

Bob Dylan is one of the world's most popular and acclaimed songwriters, musicians and performers, having sold more than 90 million albums and performed literally thousands of shows around the world in a career spanning five decades. Dylan won a Golden Globe and Academy Award in 2001 for “Things Have Changed" from the movie Wonder Boys and 10 Grammy awards, including Album of the Year in 1998 for Time Out Of Mind.

In other Bob Dylan news, Todd Haynes' unconventional Dylan biopic I'm Not There will be released on DVD on May 6th.

The soundtrack was released on Columbia Records; the two-disc, 34 song collection includes newly-recorded cover versions of Bob Dylan songs from the film celebrated contemporary musicians including Eddie Vedder, Sonic Youth, Stephen Malkmus, Cat Power, Sufjan Stevens, John Doe, Karen O, Jeff Tweedy, Willie Nelson, Antony, Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova and more. I'm Not There includes the original Bob Dylan recording of the song, a rare oft-bootlegged outtake from 1967 which has never been available on any official release.
