Shawna Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 I got this text from a friend of mine here in Phoenix over the weekened: "You know it's hot when the grill is pre-heated to 110 before you even turn on the propane!"
MindCrime Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Hot enough to cook an egg on the sidewalk.
RonJonSurfer Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Not hot enough in NJ. Yesterday was the first true summer like day in along time. It was about 86 and not a cloud in the sky. I went down the shore..of course. Still, I'm a fan of 100+ heat and it isn't in the picture so far. We had a freak 100 degree day back in April...nothing since.
pinkstones Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Let's see, it's 83 here right now with 49% humidity. That's actually rather cool for where I live. It's almost mid-July and we haven't seen any real, real opressive heat yet.
phil Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 (edited) Oh, it's 77 and breezy again in San Diego ( ho-hum). By the way Marc, your new avatar is creepy, but funny. Edited July 14, 2009 by Guest
Shawna Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 we are at record high heat right now, 113+, my a/c is running continuously, and it's supposed to stay this way throughout the week. I like heat, but there is a limit. My power bill is going to be outrageous.
Kevin Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Where's your pioneer spirit ? Imagine the folk who lived there long ago without air conditioning ... 85 with high humidity (86%) .
MarcM Posted July 14, 2009 Author Report Posted July 14, 2009 why do you think they were goin around shooting each other?
The Seeker Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Did someone change the topic title or am I getting old? Anyway, it's raining, raining, raining.
The Seeker Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Ah, right Okay then... it is hot enough for me. It's not very hot at all, but hot enough for me.
Fariha Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 It's not that hot (by our standards anyway) and I am likin' it!
pinkstones Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Right now it's 84 with 29% humidity. Lovely! I can take heat as long as it's not humid.
MindCrime Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 93°F with expected highs of 108°F, but I have the air-conditioning set at 45°F
_Laurie_ Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Brrrr..MC, you're gonna get yourself sick that way.
MindCrime Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 I know, but I'd rather sit in cold than hot weather.
MarcM Posted July 15, 2009 Author Report Posted July 15, 2009 102 today. I get to work outside in it. Yech.
pinkstones Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 It's actually not good for your body to go from extreme heat to extreme cold like that. You should never set your AC that low and then go outside into 100+ heat. It's too much of a shock to your system.
Shawna Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 all I could think of when I read that, MC, was how much must YOUR a/c be running? I keep mine set at 80 and it's running constantly - it'll get the temp down to 80, then 5 minutes later it kicks on again to get the temp back down to 80. And I'm in the bottom/middle unit of a condo, where it's insulated both top and sides. My bill's gonna be UGLY this month. I shudder to imagine what yours will look like...
MindCrime Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 I get free utilities included in the cost of my rent, so it doesn't matter But I had to raise my AC to around 60°F.

You know, I had no real idea what a condo is, and up until that post I imagined you to be living in a trailer without wheels
MuzikTyme Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 How about a cul-de-sac without an entrance? An iceberg without a Titanic? How about a desert without a dune? I live in a garden without tractors.
