Farin
The Lifting ~ R.E.M. Grounded 5 a.m. The nightlite is comforting. But gravity is holding you. Once settled into sleep You have watched on repeat, The story of your life Across the ceiling; And in review, You've said the air was singing It's calling you you don't believe These things you've never seen. "Good morning, how are you? The weather's fine, the sky is blue- It's perfect for our seminar..." "Now close your eyes, And start to breathe. Allow the noise to recede... ...Allow yourself to drift and fly away. But you just stay. You've said the air was singing It's calling you you don't believe These things you've never seen, never dreamed. Did you hear these voices calling Did you hear these voices calling Did you hear these voices calling you? Locked into a conference room, "We're only what our minds assume..." And rationale is leaving you. This conceit these systems of belief, Your counselor agrees, "You've always mark these boundaries now you're free..." And with relief. You've said the air was singing It's calling you you don't believe These things you've never seen, never heard, never dreamed. You said the air was singing It's calling you you don't believe These things you've never seen. Never [x19] Once you had a dream Of oceans, and sunken cities Memories of things you've never known

TheLizard
"The New Year" - Death Cab For Cutie So this is the new year. And i don't feel any different. The clanking of crystal Explosions off in the distance (in the distance). So this is the new year And I have no resolutions For self assigned penance For problems with easy solutions So everybody put your best suit or dress on Let's make believe that we are wealthy for just this once Lighting firecrackers off on the front lawn As thirty dialogs bleed into one I wish the world was flat like the old days Then i could travel just by folding a map No more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways There'd be no distance that could hold us back. There'd be no distance that could hold us back [x2] So this is the new year [x4]

Farin
Hope ~ R.E.M. You want to go out Friday And you want to go forever You know that sounds childish That you've dreamt of alligators You hope that we are with you And you hope you're recoginezed You want to go forever You see it in my eyes I'm lost in the confusion And it doesn't seem to matter You really can't believe it And you hope it's getting better You want to trust the doctors Their procedure is the best But the last try was a failure And the intern was a mess And they did the same to Matthew And he bled 'til Sunday night They're saying don't be frightened But you're weakened by the sight of it You lock into a pattern And you know that it's the last ditch You're trying to see through it And it doesn't make sense But they're saying don't be frightened And they're killing alligators And they're hog-tied And accepting of the struggle You want to trust religion And you know it's allegory But the people who are followers Have written their own story So you look up to the heavens And you hope that it's a spaceship And it's something from your childhood You're thinking don't be frightened You want to climb the ladder You want to see forever You want to go out Friday And you want to go forever And you want to cross your DNA To cross your DNA with something reptile And you're questioning the sciences And questioning religion You're looking like an idiot And you no longer care And you want to bridge the schism, A built-in mechanism to protect you And you're looking for salvation And you're looking for deliverance You're looking like an idiot And you no longer care 'Cause you want to climb the ladder You want to go forever And you want to go out Friday You want to go forever
Farin
Common People ~ Pulp She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge She studied sculpture at St Martin's college That's where I... Caught her eye She told me that her Dad was loaded I said "In that case I'll have rum and coca-cola." She said "Fine,"... And then in thirty seconds time she said "I want to live like common people I want to do whatever common people do I want to sleep with common people I want to sleep with common people like you." Oh what else could I do? I said "I'll see what I can do." I took her to a supermarket I don't know why, but I had to start it somewhere So it started... there I said "Pretend you've got no money." But she just laughed an said "Oh you're so funny." I said "Yeah? Well I can't see anyone else smiling in here Are you sure you want to live like common people You want to see whatever common people see You want to sleep with common people You want to sleep with common people like me?" But she didn't... understand She just smiled and held my hand Rent a flat above a shop Cut your hair and get a job Smoke some fags and play some pool Pretend you never went to school But still you'll never get it right 'cos when you're laid in bed at night Watching roaches climb the wall If you called your dad he could stop it all yeah You'll never live like common people You'll never do what ever common people do You'll never fail like common people You'll never watch your life slide out of view And then dance, and drink, and screw Because there's nothing else to do Sing along with the common people Sing along and it might just get you through Laugh along with the common people Laugh along even though they're laughing at you And the stupid things that you do Because you think that poor is cool. Like a dog lying in a corner They will bite you and never warn you Look out. They'll tear your insides out 'cos everybody hates a tourist Especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh Yeah and the chip stain and grease will come out in the bath You will never understand How it feels to live your life With no meaning or control And with nowhere left to go You are amazed that they exist And they burn so bright whilst you can only wonder why. Rent a flat above a shop Cut your hair and get a job Smoke some fags and play some pool Pretend you never went to school But still you'll never get it right 'cos when you're laid in bed at night Watching... roaches climb the wall If you called your Dad he could stop it all, Yeah. Viaene
I don't really understand the meaning. I think it's about two people meeting and perhaps falling in love? What's your opinion? Echoes - Pink Floyd Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air And deep beneath the rolling waves In labyrinths of coral caves The echo of a distant tide Comes willowing across the sand And everything is green and submarine And no one showed us to the land And no one knows the wheres or whys But something stirs and something tries And starts to climb toward the light Strangers passing in the street By chance two separate glances meet And I am you and what I see is me And do I take you by the hand And lead you through the land And help me understand the best I can And no one calls us to move on And no one forces down our eyes And no one speaks and no one tries And no one flies around the sun Now this is the day you fall upon my waking eyes Inviting and inciting me to rise And through the window in the wall Comes streaming in on sunlight wings A million bright ambassadors of morning And no one sings me lullabies And no one makes me close my eyes And so I throw the windows wide And call to you across the sky By Mr. Waters
Foolonthehill
Yeah, I'm not really sure in specific, but I find the line "and so I throw the windows wide, and call to you across the sky" to be particularly romantic. I've always found echoes to be a very visual piece of music, I imagine beautiful landscapes above and below the waves whenever I listen to it. Farin
Parting Ways ~ Pearl Jam Behind her eyes there's curtains and they've been closed to hide the flames. Remains. She know their future's burning but she can smile just the same. Same. And though her mood is fine today there's a fear they'll soon be parting ways. Standing like a statue. A chin of stone a heart of clay. Hey. And thought he's too big a man to say there's a fear they'll soon be parting ways. Drifting away. Drifting away. Drifting away. Away. Away. Farin
Try Not to Breathe ~ R.E.M. I will try not to breathe I can hold my head still with my hands at my knees These eyes are the eyes of the old, shivering and bold I will try not to breathe This decision is mine. I have lived a full life And these are the eyes that I want you to remember, oh I need something to fly over my grave again I need something to breathe I will try not to burden you I can hold these inside. I will hold my breath Until all these shivers subside, Just look in my eyes I will try not to worry you I have seen things that you will never see Leave it to memory me. I shudder to breathe I want you to remember, oh (you will never see) I need something to fly (something to fly) Over my grave again (you will never see) I need something to breathe (something to breathe) Baby, don't shiver now Why do you shiver now? (I have seen things that you will never see) I need something to fly (something to fly) Over my grave again. (I have seen things that you will never see) I need something to breathe, oooh... Farin
Do Me a Favour ~ Arctic Monkeys Well the morning was complete There was tears on the steering wheel dripping on the seat Several hours or several weeks I'd have the cheek to say they're equally as bleak It's the beginning of the end The car went up the hill and disappeared around the bend Ask anyone they'll tell you that it's these times that it tends To start to break in half To start to fall apart Hold on to your heart Do me a favour and break my nose Do me a favour and tell me to go away Do me a favour and stop asking questions As she walked away Well her shoes were untied And the eyes were all red You could see that we'd cried And I watched and I waited until she was inside Forcing a smile and waving goodbye Curiosity becomes a heavy load Too heavy to hold Too heavy to hold Curiosity becomes a heavy load Too heavy to hold We'll force you to be cold Do me a favour and ask if you need some help She said "do me a favour and stop flattering yourself" And to tear apart the ties that bind Perhaps "f**k off" might be too kind Perhaps "f**k off" might be too kind...
