Jukebox the Ghost- Beady Eyes on the Horizon

There's a dead man hanging, slumped over the steering wheel of an interstate

Runaway bursting into flames

And the devil was gently breathing, sleeping face-down in my

Apartment, and like all his friends I'm growing tired of his games...

And there's a homeless man arranging his hands, grooving to the beat

Radiating from a police scanner, who said "The air was feeling good to

Me, just as cool and ripe as air can be," and a woman who sincerely

Believes in UFOs and who can blame her when the stars are hanging

Overhead, dangling by a thread, floating ten thousand feet off the ground...

(This was a story told to me when I was just the age of 17, one which

God himself dictated to me, he said, "This is how all this sh*t's gonna

Be when I blow your little planet into smithereens." It haunted my

Dreams like an accident on replay on a TV screen.)

She sees faces in her dreams--strange machines she'd never seen

Blueprints of submarines to reassemble in a time of dire need

And there were preachers in the desert, waving to the crowd

Dictating seven angry letters from a man up in the clouds

And there were 27 soldiers telling 27 lies

And a hole inside a hurricane with a pair of beady eyes

A pair of beady eyes looking down onto the pavement while the stars are gathered 'round

Because they all will want a front seat when sh*t starts going down

Because the sun is just a supernova turned the other way around!

There were strangers in the subway and men in limousines making deals and

Swapping photographs of cans of gasoline, and there are no angels in the woodwork

Or devils on the ground, and they are looking through a hurricane's tectonic wall of

Sound and a man who smokes his cigarettes the other way around and she is looking

In behind him from inside a wall of sound and she is dancing with the neon because

The air is feeling good against her arms and legs and fingertips are measuring the

Distance in the spaces in between me and you and all your friends when there's no

Time to load a weapon and no time to make amends and people frozen in their tracks

Staring at the sky at a hole inside a hurricane revealing...

A pair of beady eyes!

A pair of beady eyes looking down onto the pavement while the stars are gathered 'round

Because they all will want a front seat when sh*t starts going down

Because the sun is just a supernova turned the other way around!

This is not a test, this is the real thing...

Of Monsters and Men - King and Lionheart

Taking over this town, they should worry,

but these problem aside I think I taught you well.

That we won’t run, and we won’t run, and we won’t run.

That we won’t run, and we won’t run, and we won’t run.

And in the winter night sky ships are sailing,

looking down on these bright blue city lights.

And they won’t wait, and they won’t wait, and they won’t wait.

We’re here to stay, we’re here to stay, we’re here to stay.

Howling ghost they reappear

in mountains that are stacked with fear

but you’re a king and I’m a lionheart.

A lionheart.

His crown lid up the way as we moved slowly

pass the wondering eyes of the ones that were left behind.

Though far away, though far away, though far away

we’re still the same, we’re still the same, we’re still the same.

Howling ghost they reappear

in mountains that are stacked with fear

but you’re a king and I’m a lionheart.

And in the sea that’s painted black,

creatures lurk below the deck

but you’re a king and I’m a lionheart.

And as the world comes to an end

I’ll be here to hold your hand

cause you’re my king and I’m your lionheart.

A lionheart.

Torturing James Hetfield

Well, we got James Hetfield

And we tied him up tight

Naked and cold

We kept the strip lights bright

Said what have you got for us James

He said nothing at all

So we dragged some speakers

In from the hall

James James James

Just give us names names names

James James James

Well, we tried every tune in the songbook

To loosen his tongue

We played Simply Red nonstop

He just swayed along

Then we had an idea

A new plan of attack

Thought that even a deaf man

Would bend and crack

James James James

Just give us names names names

James James James

Now look what we've brought for you James

Your favorite disc

It's Chumbawamba

Their greatest hits (There's only one)

Turned up the volume

You should've heard him sing (Oh how he sings)

He cried like a baby

And told us everything (it was Lars!)

James James James

Just give us names names names

James James James

("Torturing James Hetfield" is a response to James Hetfield's approval of the use of Metallica's music as a torture device against Iraqi prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. (Source))

Jukebox the Ghost - "Say When"

Expensive tickets to a crowded place

Someone who you can't relate to calls your name

Fires at the after-party much too late

The DJ finished spinning all the songs you hate

And the people that you love

Are always hating on the people that you love

Everyone against each other

Each one against the other

I'm feeling sick

Like the nightmare's never ending

I'm sick of all the small-talk

If you're sick of pretending

You can hear them speaking

Just the rhythm of your breeding

If you've had enough

Say when

Say when

If you've had enough

Say when

Dumb horns blasting in the techno break

Hiding in the corner by the wedding cake

An image of your face distorting on the plate

Congratulations on your ugly dinner date

And the people that you love

Are always hating on the people that you love

Everyone against each other

Each one against the other

I'm feeling sick

Like the nightmare's never ending

I'm sick of all the small-talk

If you're sick of pretending

You can hear them speaking

Just the speakers overheating

If you've had enough

Say when

Say when

If you've had enough

Say when

Don't say when until you've tried it

Don't say 'uncle' unless you don't like it

Because every good reason

You've had so far for leaving

Is just another weakness

That brings you closer to me

Closer to me

Expensive tickets to a crowded place

Someone who you can't relate to calls your name

Fires at the after-party much too late

The DJ finished spinning all the songs you hate

Say when

Sha na sha na na na, sha na sha na

Sha na sha na na na, sha na sha na

Your life's a fairy tale,

10 o'clock, you're off to bed.

School night, it doesn't matter,

Out the window, down the ladder.

Snow White, you're squeaky clean,

People think you're peaches and cream.

School uniform looks so charming,

But underneath, you're quite alarming.

Snow White, staying out all night,

Snow White, shakin' in the hot lights.

Snow White, home before the daylight,

You got the perfect disguise.

Sha na sha na na na, sha na sha na

Snow White, the teacher's pet,

Straight "A"'s ain't all she gets.

Special classes after school,

I bet I know who's teachin' who.

Yeah, Snow White, staying out all night,

Snow White, shakin' in the hot lights.

Snow White, home before the daylight,

You got the perfect disguise.

Sha na sha na na na, sha na sha na

Snow White, staying out all night,

Snow White, shakin' in the hot lights.

Snow White, home before the daylight,

You got the perfect disguise.

Abandoned Pools - Start Over

What a mess our lives turned out to be

It was at its best when you and I were only 3

We can start with all the things that turn us out

And we can go right down the list and throw them out

Can we start, start over?

Can we start, start over?

It's all over

It's all over

Here you are and there's where you wanna be

But don't think you don't have company

Think of all the lonely people in the world

And if it's God who made us why we so damn cruel

Can we start, start over?

Can we start, start over?

It's all over

It's all over

We can never lie

And you can never steal the time

And we can only watch them die

And we can never find out why

We can start with all the things that turn us out

And we can go right down the list and throw them out

Can we start, start over?...

It's all over...

You may be wondering why I bolded the third and fourth lines of the bridge. They have a certain meaning to me, although for a stupid reason.

This was used as the ending theme of season 1 of Clone High (have I talked about this show enough? It's just so damn good...) and is quite an emotional moment of the show. Spoliers

So, at the end of the 13th episode, Abe FINALLY realizes his feelings for Joan are more than just platonic. As he runs around the prom looking for her, he finds Joan in the freezer in bed with JFK. (All while "Start Over" is playing) Then, the conga line led my Principal Scudworth, who was about to get the clones taken from him by the Secret Board of Shadowy Figures, got into the freezer and that is when John Stamos pulls the lever and freezes everyone. The final words out of Abe's mouth were, "But Joan, I love---" and that is when the series ended. So, we watched them "die" and we will never find out why or what happens.

Titus Andronicus-"A More Perfect Union"

''From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some transatlantic giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe and Asia could not, by force, take a drink from the Ohio River or set a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. If destruction be our lot, we ourselves must be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men, we will live forever, or die by suicide.''

There'll be no more counting the cars on the garden state parkway

Nor waiting for the Fung Wah bus to carry me to who-knows-where

And when I stand tonight, 'neath the lights of the Fenway

Will I not yell like hell for the glory of the Newark Bears?

Because where I'm going to now, no one can ever hurt me

Where the well of human hatred is shallow and dry

No, I never wanted to change the world, but I'm looking for a new New Jersey

Because tramps like us, baby, we were born to die

I'm doing 70 on 17, 80 over 84

And I never let the Meritt Parkway magnetize me no more

Give me a brutal Somerville summer,

Give me a cruel New England winter

Give me the great Pine Barrens

So I can see them turned into splinters

And if I come in on a donkey, let me go out on a gurney

I want to realize too late I never should have left New Jersey

I sense the enemy, they're rustling around in the trees

I thought I had gotten away but the followed me to 02143

Woe, oh woe is me, no one knows the trouble I see

When they hang Jeff Davis from a sourapple tree, I'll sit beneath the leaves and weep

None of us shall be saved, every man will be a slave

For John Brown's body lies a'mouldring in the grave and there's rumbling down in the caves

So if it's time for choosing sides, and to show this dirty city how we do the Jersey Slide

And if it deserves a better class of criminal,

Then I'm'a give it to them tonight

So we'll rally around the flag, rally around the flag

Rally around the flag, boys, rally once again,

Shouting the Battle Cry of Freedom

Rally around the flag, rally around the flag

Glory, glory, Hallelujah, His truth is marching on

Frightened Rabbit - "December's Traditions"

December's traditions suck the last of summer from our cheeks

Draws the curtains, strips the trees

In so-called living rooms, Scottish pastimes come to roost

Love's labor's stained linen sheet

The ghostly body who makes his bed beside you

Is slowly losing teeth

The boy needs sunlight and a shot of modesty

He needs to get some sleep

It's not the answer sticky plaster on a shattered bone

What do you need, what do you need from me

It's not the answer, treating cancer like a cold

What do you need, what do you need from me?

After months of grieving, well, f*ck the grief, I'm leaving!

Will you leave with me?

The blood loss, the towering cost

Mouth to mouth, tongue to tongue

The lick brings warm metallic taste

I can't correct myself, convince you

That there's no one else in volume, good news

If you want a saint, you don't want me

It's not the answer sticky plaster on a shattered bone

What do you need, what do you need from me?

It's not the answer, treating cancer like the cold

What do you need, what do you need from me?

It's not the answer, I'm just begging to be told

What do you need, what do you need from me?

If I had the answer, I'd write a book of what I know

What do you need, what do you need from me?

Have You Ever Seen The Rain? ~ Creedence Clearwater Revival

I love these lyrics... :)

Someone told me long ago

There's a calm

Before the storm

I know

And it's been comin' for some time

When it's over, so they say

It'll rain a sunny day

I know

Shinin' down like water

I want to know

Have you ever seen

The rain?

I want to know

Have you ever seen the rain

Comin' down on a sunny day

Yesterday and days before

Sun is cold and rain is hard

I know been that way

For all my time

'Till forever on it goes

Through the circle fast and slow

I know and it can't stop

I wonder

I want to know

Have you ever seen the rain?

I want to know

Have you ever seen the rain?

Comin' down on a sunny day

You will adore my karaoke version, then! :sing1:

Streetlight Manifesto - The Hands that Thieve

I felt no guilt until I was caught and I was told that I was guilty

And even then I wasn't really sure

Yeah, yeah

That the thing I felt was guilt itself

Or maybe it was something else

Frustration at the fact that I was ever caught at all

I told a lie that multiplied and by the time I realized it

I'd given up everything I ever loved

Yeah, yeah

Because the thing you lack when you're looking back

Is the pressure, the fear that you have to act

Yeah, everything is clearer when you're looking at the past

Oh no

And I don't care if I lose

Because my heroes did too

They shouted, "Court should be adjourned because the jury are fools!"

And the judge can't decipher his left from his right

Or his right from his wrong

And we will bite the hand that thieves

We will not turn the other cheek

This is no threat, it is a promise we will keep

So what's the point pretending

When we've seen behind the curtain

And there's nothing much to see

Oh yeah

I felt no pain 'til I was down and I was told that I was bleeding

And even then I knew I wasn't done

Yeah, yeah

Because the wounds I get they will just collect

Ensuring that I won't forget

Reminders of the battles that I've lost and that I've won

And I will fight 'til I have died

Or all my enemies are allies

And even then I will sleep with an open eye

Yeah, yeah

Because the night is long and our foes are strong

But I know that the road that we're travelling on

It only seems so dark because we've almost reached the dawn

Oh no

And I don't care if I lose

Because my heroes did too

They shouted, "Court should be adjourned because the jury are fools!"

And the judge can't decide his his left from his right

Or his right from his wrong

And we will bite the hand that thieves

We will not turn the other cheek

This is no threat, it is a promise we will keep

So what's the point pretending

When we've seen behind the curtain

And there's nothing much to see

Oh yeah

And everyone will claim

That they knew from the beginning

That what they did was wrong

But they still just went on sinning

The sudden rush you feel when realizing

Everything you know will fade away

It haunts you, dear

But you won't want to let it go

Someday we'll lose the war

But until then we will dream of winning

I won't forget the things you said when I was down and I was tired of it

The words you spoke, they brought me home

When it was time to fight, we chose a side

But everyone knew that something didn't feel right

So we stood our ground and waited for a sign

When it was time to fight, we chose a side

But everyone knew that something didn't feel right

So we stood our ground and waited for a sign

You said don't look back

Don't look down

Oh! We won't look back

We won't look down

We've gone too far

We're too high off the ground

The bridge was burned

The lesson learned

(Basically showing their frustrations with their a**hole of a record label)

(English translation)

I look up as I walk
So that the tears won't fall
Remembering those those spring days
But I am all alone tonight

I look up as I walk
Counting the stars with tearful eyes
Remembering those summer days
But I am all alone tonight

Happiness lies beyond the clouds
Happiness lies up above the sky

I look up as I walk
So that the tears won't fall
Though the tears well up as I walk
For tonight I'm all alone tonight
(whistling)

Remembering those autumn days
But I am all alone tonight

Sadness lies in the shadow of the stars
Sadness lurks in the shadow of the moon

I look up as I walk
So that the tears won't fall
Though the tears well up as I walk
For tonight I'm all alone
