I did, Fin ! :)

I hadn't heard it before, but I've played it a few times and I'm liking it more each time. Funny how different Hollies' songs were big in some Countries and not others.

I like their 60s ones best, but they were also very big here in the early 70s. Their biggest Hit in Brisbane City was 'Too Young To Be Married' (1972), which didn't chart in either the U.K. or the U.S.

It worked!

I've never heard of Too Young To Be Married... I also prefer their 60s songs. I was quite surprised when I learned that Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress was by them... great song though. Same with The Air That I Breathe and He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother (one of my favourite songs)... even if they're just covers (The Air That I Breathe anyway, not that sure about He Ain't Heavy), they were so different from the other songs I knew by them.

You cheeky little devil. :neener:

Of course, it's all that testosterone coursing through my manly body that made my hair 'a little thin on top'. Or maybe my Wife patting me on the head and saying "well done" all the time. That would be a very likely explanation.

;)

I keep finding songs

Thank you. I wasn't sure if it was just written for them by someone else, or if they really did cover it. Seems like they did.

did no one listen to "Green and Dumb"?

Shawna, I linked to the youtube video. I listened without watching. For the first half of the song I could not distinguish the lyrics. Only every third word or so was intelligible to me. Perhaps had I heard the song before I'd have known what he was singing. Sorry.

Thanks for giving it a try, Joe! If you've got a spare 4 1/2 minutes, give it another try - here's the lyrics. :)

"Green and Dumb"

RCPM

Daisies stand up on their tiptoes

Clouds stumble over themselves in the sky

And all the pretty horses come running to her

Even the dust devils pray that they'll catch her eye.

I haunt her house from the outside

I watch her bake cornbread and talk on the phone

The wireless on the inside plays a sad, sweet song

A mute moonlit statue am I, she waltzes alone

And baby, baby, I could call you baby

If I weren't so empty in the head

and tied up in the tongue

Baby, baby, I could call you baby

If I weren't so green and dumb.

The wind ain't stopped blowing since morning

It's got me froze up on the inside

I could get warm in the bunkhouse

And thaw out on coffee and bread

And baby, baby, I could call you baby

If I weren't so empty in the head

and tied up in the tongue

Baby, baby, I could call you baby

If I weren't so green and dumb

I need your government warning

like I need a hole in my head

but I won't shoot your coyotes, and I won't burn your weeds

This paycheck won't fill up this hollow

it won't dull all the aching

And baby, baby, I could call you baby

If I weren't so empty in the head

and tied up in the tongue

Baby, baby, I could call you baby

If I weren't so green and dumb
