Lucky
Way to handle the old curmudgeon Peachy! Hush up Blues. We've got enthusiasm goin' on here. Ok, so it appears that y'all want to do original Christmas songs? Sounds ok to me, and I think Martin is good with it too. MC has a great point though. If we're doing that topic, we need to do it fast, so that the results can be posted in the blog well before Christmas. I don't think that should really be a problem. If that's the concensus we'll tentativly plan to have it over with so that it can be posted no later than the 15th of Dec.

LeeBB
An Australian Top 10 List? Hey everyone, would this interest any of you? Some of the Australians round here nominate a bunch of wondrous stuff that the rest of you are possibly not familiar with, and then you can all vote your top tens? Perhaps this has been done already? Anyway, does that sound like an idea? Thanks heaps, Lee.
Shawna
Crikey. I came up with this one, and I can think of not a single original Christmas tune off the top of my head.
LeeBB
Original Christmas track? "How To Make Gravy" by Paul Kelly. Sad sad song. And more traditional: Six White Boomers - Rolf Harris My 6-year-old loves this one: On the FIRST day of Christmas, My true love sent to me, A kookaburra in a gum tree. On the SECOND day of Christmas, My true love sent to me, Two snakes on skis, And a kookaburra in a gum tree. ...etc... On the TWELFTH day of Christmas, My true love sent to me, Twelve possums playing, Eleven lizards leaping, Ten wombats washing, Nine crocs a-snoozing? Eight dingos dancing, Seven emus laying, Six sharks a-surfing, FIVE KANGAROOS! Four lyrebirds, Three wet galahs, Two snakes on skis, And a kookaburra in a gum tree. L, L. edna
My ever fave Christmas song is "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" so it will get my 10 points in the final list "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day" - Roy Wood When the snowman brings the snow Well he just might like to know He's put a great big smile on sombody's face If you jump into your bed Quikly cover up your head Don't you lock the doors You know that sweet santa clause is on the way (chorus) Well I wish it could be christmas everyday when the kids start singing and the band begins to play Oh I wish it could be christmas everyday So let the bells ring out for christmas When your skating in the park If the snow cloud makes it dark Then your rosy cheeks are gonna light my merry way Now the frosty paws appear And they've frozen up my ear So we'll lie by the fire Till the sleet simply knocks 'em all the way (chorus) Well I wish it could be christmas everyday When the kids start singing and the band begins to play Oh I wish it could be christmas every day So let the bells ring out for christmas When the snow man brings the snow(snowman brings the snow) Well he just might like to know(just might like to know) He's put a great big smile on somebody's face So if santa brings that sleigh(santa brings that sleigh) Along the milky way(along the milky way) I'll sign my name on the rooftop in the snow Then he may decide to stay (chorus) Well I wish it could be christmas everyday When the kids start singing and the band begins to play Oh I wish it could be christmas everyday So let the bells ring out for christmas

The Seeker
I'd wait until someone posts the Christmas thread, but at this rate someone else will snatch my song from me... so I have dibs on Wonderful Christmas Time -- Paul McCartney. Eight dingos dancing, Seven emus laying, Six sharks a-surfing, FIVE KANGAROOS! Four lyrebirds, Three wet galahs, Two snakes on skis, And a kookaburra in a gum tree. and this brings up a good question: since there are BILLIONS of versions of the Twelve Days of Christmas and other traditional songs out there, do we consider each version an original if it's got its own words but the same traditional music? Hmmmmm... In my mind when I suggested the idea, I thought not.
