The Strokes- Is This It? (2001)

This album brings back memories of around Christmas break, 2005, cruising around in my friends busted up Cougar with the heat on full blast. I've always liked the Strokes, there's just something about them. Last Nite, Is This It, and Someday are a few of my favorites on this album. This along with their other two albums have been full of rockin' music, and they never get old to listen to.

1. "Is This It" – 2:34

2. "The Modern Age" – 3:32

3. "Soma" – 2:37

4. "Barely Legal" – 3:58

5. "Someday" – 3:07

6. "Alone, Together" – 3:12

7. "Last Nite" – 3:17

8. "Hard to Explain" – 3:47

9. "New York City Cops" – 3:36

* "When It Started" (replaces "New York City Cops" on the U.S. edition) – 2:57

10. "Trying Your Luck" – 3:27

11. "Take It or Leave It" – 3:16

Is This It is one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the 2000s. It was ranked 89th in a 2005 survey held by British television's Channel 4 to determine the 100 greatest albums of all time. In 2003, the album was ranked number 367 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In June 2005, the album was ranked number 100 on Spin Magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Albums, 1985-2005". In July 2006, the album was ranked 48 on The Observer's list of 'The 50 Albums That Changed Music.' In November 2007 Q magazine rated it at 21 in "21 albums that changed music" In addition to being ranked among the greatest albums of all time, the album cover [non-US version] has been ranked as one of the greatest album covers of all time.

And I'm guessing this would be the non-US version:

From wikipedia...

Catch a Fire is the major-label-debut album for Jamaican reggae band The Wailers, released on Island Records in 1973. The album established the band as international superstars. Leader Bob Marley in particular became world-famous, especially in the Caribbean and Africa, and among immigrants in Europe and African-Americans in the United States. The socially aware lyrics and militant tone surprised many listeners, but others were attracted to songwriters Marley and Peter Tosh's confrontational subjects and optimistic view of a future free from oppression.

Catch a Fire ~ Bob Marley and the Wailers

1. "Concrete Jungle" (Marley) – 4:13

2. "Slave Driver" (Marley) – 2:53

3. "400 Years" (Marley/Tosh) – 2:45

4. "Stop That Train" (Tosh) – 3:55

5. "Baby We've Got A Date (Rock It Baby)" (Marley) – 3:57

6. "Stir It Up" (Marley) – 5:32

7. "Kinky Raggae" (Marley) – 3:37

8. "No More Trouble" (Marley) – 3:57

9. Midnight Ravers (Marley) – 5:10

I agree... a 2-parter would have been easier (not by a whole lot, but enough) then from the top 10 of the combined lists we can pick the final 5. (That's what I was hoping for Girls Gone Wild as well... :frown:) Only due to the number of nom's. For the past few SF Choice there have been more people participating. We all have a hard time with Top 10 lists, with so many noms here now, a Top 5 is nearly impossible!
