Lea
The Circle Game-Joni Mitchell 1970 from Ladies Of The Canyon Rumor has it that this song was written for Neil Young (though not for him to sing). I just nominated Circle Game in the 101 ten and you put it as #3 on your ten picks I'd say you have very good taste in music even tho it didn't make the final cut I will try to vote it in again to

Tenacious_Peaches
Before voting begins, please allow me to plead my case as to why you should include Living Color's "Cult of Personality" in your top ten. First of all, it rocks face. Hard. Second of all, it is just as relevant today, almost 20 years after it was recorded. Style over substance and bad leadership over good leadership will unfortunately never go out of fashion. Here's a blurb from the Almighty Wikipedia: "Cult of Personality" is a song by the New York City band Living Colour. The track appeared on the band's debut album Vivid and won the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1989. The music video earned two MTV Video Music Awards for Best Group Video and Best New Artist. And here's a blurb from the Almighty Songfacts: "This song opens and closes with famous quotes: "And in the few moments we have left, we want to talk right down to earth in a language that everybody here can easily understand." This is Malcolm X, from his "Message To The Grass-Roots" speech in 1963. The point of it was to unify African-Americans. The ending quotes start with John F. Kennedy's famous "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." This is from his inaugural address in 1961. The significance of the quotes is that both were from men who were assassinated. Most of the song seems to be denouncing idolatry, but there is the one stanza containing the line, "A leader speaks, a leader dies." They also seem to make no distinction between "good" and "evil," as each time they mention a "hero" they pair them with an "enemy" - Mussolini and Kennedy, and Stalin and Gandhi. The final words are "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself," a quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt's first inaugural address on March 4, 1933. Roosevelt used the address to announce his "New Deal" program and encourage the citizens of the United States to overcome their economic problems as they emerged from the depression." Jenny
It will make mine as well, no arm-twisting needed. Well, if you want to throw some chocolate my way, I won't object. Whenever I hear "Blueberry Hill", I have to giggle. Anyone else remember Richie Cunningham singing "I found my threee-el" on Happy Days?

miamisammy29
1. One In A Million - Guns N' Roses (I was wrong about "Black Betty". THIS song is the most politically incorrect tune ever written!) 2. If I Had $1,000,000 - Barenaked Ladies (The Ladies at their nakedest. This song was also used heavily in ads for the New York Lottery. Very funny and very cool.) 3. Dangerous Type - Cars (How this awesome tune hasn't yet made it into the Top Ten is beyond me...especially with Edna nominating it every three weeks or so.) 4. Jailbreak - AC/DC (Three words....BON F***ING SCOTT!!) 5. Brother Louie - Stories (Not quite Guns N' Roses, but still quite politically incorrect by today's standards,) 6. Roll On Down The Highway - Bachman-Turner Overdrive (My favorite BTO tune...probably because it's the one that's NOT played four times a day on your average rock station. And the guitar riff's pretty wicked, too!) 7. Everything Falls Apart - Dog's Eye View (One of my favorite one-hit wonders. They're not Better Than Ezra, but it's a good tune.) 8. Cracked Actor - Davie Bowie ("Smack, baby, smack, is that all that you feel?") 9. Hair Of The Dog - Nazareth (Y'all know who you're messing with here; no need for me to repeat it.) 10. Rudi, A Message to You - The Specials (One of the great bands of the classic MTV era, second only to Madness.)

CanAm
1. Roll On Down The Highway - BTO One of my favourite highway driving songs. 2. Hair Of The Dog - Nazareth One of the first(if not the first)uses of an electrified bagpipe in rock music. 3. Circle Game - One of Joni's most beautiful folk songs. 4. Brother Louie - Stories 5. Come Monday - Jimmy Buffett I just love Jimmy's laid back style. 6. Morning Has Broken - Cat Stevens I'm not a big fan of Cat's, but this song evokes many happy memories. 7. Woodstock - CSNY This isn't my favourite version of Joni's song, but I like it, nonetheless. 8. Future Games - Fleetwood Mac A great tune by the Bob Welch led version of the band. 9. Cult Of Personality - Living Colour I wasn't familiar with this song, but Peaches' heartfelt plea on it's behalf made me listen to it and I'm glad I did. It rocks. 10. Working Class Hero - John Lennon A poignant tune by Johnny boy.
