Cartwright's gift - almost two times her annual salary from The Simpsons - puts her top of a list of celebrity benefactors, who have handed over their hard-earned cash to the Church of Scientology. She gave even more than Tom Cruise - who is reported to be the controversial religion's second-in-command - who has donated $5 million (GBP2.5 million) in the last four years. According to Impact magazine, Kirstie Alley gave $5 million (GBP2.5 million) last year (07) and has picked up the Diamond Meritorious Award. Fellow followers John Travolta and Kelly Preston gave $1 million (GBP500,000) each and were awarded the Gold Meritorious Award, while Priscilla Presley was handed the Patron Award for a donation of $50,000 (GBP25,000). I know she has made $250,000 per episode for the last few years and $125,000 before that...but still...that's some voice gig...What would Mel Blanc commanded today? But I am sure she had be hounded and hounded by the Scientologist to give it up. They can put extreme pressure on their members to donate. Tom Cruise gets a break because he is willing to make a fool of himself on their videos. But when I think about all the homeless and hungry that could of put that money to good use, it turns my stomach. All the money is going to be spent on Miscavige’s yacht and feeding the guards that watch over Xenu.
