babyteen
Hi there, all you fellow Songfacts Members. I was wondering, does anyone have any downloadable versions of "The Star-Spangled Banner"? There are two specific versions that I'm looking for. I'm looking for the version sung by Cher. And I'm also looking for the version sung by Faith Hill. Were these ever released as studio recordings? Or were they just recordings from the Super Bowl Games? If anybody has these two versions, would you please be so kind as to post them on YouSendIt for me? I would kindly appreciate it.
Otokichi
Would you consider the first artist/musician who put too much soul into "The Star-Spangled Banner"? That would be José Feliciano, in July 1968. If you want to hear this controversial version, check out the link to MOG. babyteen
I have actually heard the version by Jose Feliciano. I didn't see it as controversial, just slow and bluesy. Did you know that Jose is blind just like me? So, back to my original question. Do you know of where I can find downloads of the Cher version from Superbowl 33 and the Faith Hill version from Superbowl 34?
Farin
not the best quality, but here are some youtube videos: Cher - The Star-Spangled Banner 1999 Faith Hill - star spangled banner (live) and maybe this thread can you help you too
bluesboy
Also babyteen... a few months ago we pt'd you with a downloading site called ares where you can go find the songs first and download them before coming to songfacts and asking here. Since I'm computer challenged and can still download a music site, then anybody (including you) can download this site and have the many songs you want. I just went to ares and could download 30 different versions of The Star-Spangled Banner. So why don't you give this site a try.
babyteen
Aren't there any websites where I can download, without the risk of viruses?
Otokichi
I hate to bring up the "M" word, but here goes: Do you have any friends who use Macintosh computers? (I'm a dual system user who used to be quite anti-Apple.) I use a Mac portable for Internet jaunts, and use the 2GHz P4 tower (with trepidation) on occasion. In spite of legendary "Mac Fanboy Arrogance" toward Windows users, check out your nearest Mac Users Group. I can't promise they won't bite, but some are less hostile than most. babyteen
My music teacher, Markus Johnson, who is also a dear friend of mine, uses a Mac.
bluesboy
Using antivirus protection, I've had no problems with the songs I've downloaded.
Earth-Angel
It is also an illegal act to upload/download or send links to copyright material on the internet (of course there are certain allowances where licencing has been bought). If you use a site like Ares for your various queries, it will avoid a songfactor having to do something against the law. It sounds extreme, but it is something to bear in mind when requesting music
babyteen
Does MacAfee work in conjunction with Ares? MacAfee is an antivirus software from Comcast, and it's free.
Farin
I don't think that there should be any problems with Ares and any antivirus software
babyteen
Is Ares better than programs like Kazaa and Bearshare? Or is it about the same?
Lucky
Honestly babyteen, I use it, and haven't ever had a problem. I've had Kazaa, Limewire, Frostwire, etc, and have better luck finding obsure titles, with less problems. I don't want to seem to be promoting them, this is just my own experience. babyteen
When you've used Ares, have you had any viruses? The reason why I ask is because when I had Kazaa, my computer crashed four times, then two years ago, I got a virus. Also, unbeknownst to me, I had a bunch of porn put onto my system. Believe me, I didn't put it there! It wasn't my idea, it just automatically got sent to me. I hope Ares doesn't have that risk.
Lucky
I think you take your chances with anything. I'm just telling you my experiences, and no, there have been no viruses, or any other adverse happenings, that I'm aware of.
babyteen
I wonder if I could request these on ITunes. However, I don't know exactly if they're available on an album or what they're available on. Since ITunes requests usually ask you for an album title in addition to the artist, song title, and record company's name.
Uncle Joe
Yes, by all means...do that.
babyteen
Yes, by all means...do that. Do you perhaps know which albums these were on? This way, it'll be easier for ITunes to determine how to come by these recordings.
Uncle Joe
I haven't a clue. Sorry.
