Norm Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 (edited) Need to make a request by asking you all to put your thinking (and memory) hats on for my wife Sue and I. We got married back in August of 1974. During our honeymoon there was a song (ballad) that played 6 to 8 times per day on the radio. Though "Our Song" was and still is Nights In White Sstin, this song has some special meaning for as as well. The problem is we do not know the name, nor the artist, of the song. We have tried to find it on our own and failed miserably. So, I'm asking if anyone out there has a handle on this. Some of the words, to the best of my recollection, are: "You can hear church bells, ringing in the air, Listen to the birds sing in the evening air, But the sweetest thing I ever heard Is when you whisper soft In my ear Baby I'm gonna be your's forever You are all the world to me Baby I'm gonna be your's forever Love you, you know I shouldn't Leave you, you know I couldn't So Baby I'll love you forever and ever and ever" So, once again, time line of August 1974, no title or artist name, just a few words, that may be and are even probably a little wrong but seem to sound correct when I sing them. Anybody remember this? Norm Edited December 28, 2007 by Guest sorted
edna Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 Yes, me too... I couldn´t find anything in the web...
Sweet Jane 61 Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 I've been searching on the web and also looking in books here at the station with top 40 songs from each year...can't figure this one out. I'm so curious to what this song is, and I was jammin' the radio back then...
_Laurie_ Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 I've also been looking...I looked under the songs of 74, and even 73....I couldn't find anything that matched that..Is it a male or female singer or group?
Shawna Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 this doesn't have church bells, but it's got some other verses that sound like yours... I'm Yours by Elvis Presley Words & music: Don Robertson / Hal Blair) My love I offer you now, My heart and all it can give, For just as long as I live I'm yours. No arms but yours dear will do. My lips will always be true, My eyes can see only you, I'm yours. And as the years roll along Your joy and tears I'll gladly share, And when things go wrong dear Just hold out your hand and I'll be there, With every beat of my heart, With every breath that I take, Now and forever, sweetheart, I'm yours. And as the years roll along Your joy and tears I'll gladly share, And when things go wrong dear Just hold out your hand and I'll be there, With every beat of my heart, With every breath that I take, Now and forever, sweetheart, I'm yours.
Norm Posted December 22, 2007 Author Report Posted December 22, 2007 This song was sung by a male artist. My wife seemed to think it was called "Forever and Ever" but I've never been able to find it anywhere. Found a request by "Jeff" on another site looking for same song - here is his request: This song keeps running through my head and I do not know the artist or song title was from the early seventies sung by a male as a ballad on the radio this is all I have that afternoon down in the park walking in the green grass, till it was almost dark and we heard the birds sing mmmmmm it sounded so sweet we listened to the chuch bells ringing in the street but the sweetest sound thatI'll ever hear is when you whisper low in my ear baby I'm gonna be yours forever you are the world to me thats all i got any body out there know your early seventies tunes??? thank you Jeff Thanks for all your help and hoping someone out there can find this. Norm
RonJonSurfer Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 Could it have been a regional hit? Sometimes a song only gets local airplay....back then anyway. what part of the country were you in when you heard it?
Norm Posted December 22, 2007 Author Report Posted December 22, 2007 (edited) I kind of doubt it was a regional hit as I am from the Maritime Provinces in Canada. I heard it in New Brunswick (where I live and got married)and Prince Edward Island (where we honeymooned). We are a pretty small part of Canada and North America and rarely get regional hits, then or now. But you never know I guess... Norm Edited December 22, 2007 by Guest
_Laurie_ Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Could it be... Keith Hampshire 1974 », Forever and Ever (Baby I'm Gonna Be Yours) .... I'll google some more and see if I can get the lyrics... I can't find the lyrics, and for some reason I can't open the file to hear the song...here is the site if you wanna give it a try... Norm Posted December 23, 2007 Author Report Posted December 23, 2007 Wow! Great! That's it. Thanks very much! Norm
Redhead Posted February 12, 2019 Report Posted February 12, 2019 I'm new to this site. The song "Forever & Ever"(Baby I'm Gonna be Yours) was the song we chose for our wedding in 1975. We were sitting in a parking lot having just bought our rings when it came on the radio. I bought the 45 & gave it to my dear friend, now my brother-in-law, who learned it & played it on his guitar while we were signing the register. We played it on our 25th anniversary . My nephew didn't know what a 45 was. Times have certainly changed since those days.
