c_s_1987
Revision history of Songfacts on Wikipedia You'll notice a couple of recognisable names there, including Pinkfloyd1973, who created the article. I would edit it too, but I can't think of what else is significant enough to add to the article.

RonJonSurfer
It didn't do as well as I expected when I nominated it last week, but maybe it'll do better since I'm actually turning 18 this week. I missed voting last week, but would have surely voted for this song. Not only is it an anthem for those turning 18, but it is a great classic rock song. I was surprised how few songs by Alice made the Top Ten. Happy 18th!
Shawna
YOU are responsible for this?? Really? You are totally amazing! Lord no! But I was ready for the worship! And I'm soaking it up! I will, of course, pay it forward to those who really ARE responsible... Sue? Mike? And I see Carl's name incognito there as well...

RonJonSurfer
I'd never heard this song before... it's amazing. I'll put it very high on my list! It's great to discover a song that's been out there for years and realize you really like it. Jeff Lynne is a major talent and ELO was his music lab. I saw them in Madison Square Garden back in the 70's. It was the only time I ever had front row seats at MSG. They were amazing performers. BTW, Thin Lizzy was the opening act. katie_sane
Were ELO good live, RonJon? I heard they had problems recreating their tunes live, because of the orchestral thing. Wow, Thin Lizzy opened for ELO? That's awesome.
RonJonSurfer
They were beyond good, but the sound was different. In some ways it was better because they couldn't recreate the studio sounds live. The strings were so powerful, I just can't explain the sound. Imagine the sounds Jimmy Page made when he took a bow to his his guitar...except these guys were masters on violins, cello, etc. It wasn't a stretch to add in these instruments to a rock band. They blended it and added a power to the arena that I had never heard before. Oh yeah, it was loud too! Thin Lizzy rocked out too. I've seen Zep, Queen, Bowie, Clapton, Neil Young, Aerosmith, Elton and many others at MSG....ELO stands tall with the best shows.
The Seeker
I really like all the stuff by ELO I know, but I suppose that's the songs you hear on the radio because I never got round to listening to more, even though I always wanted to. And Sammy... I don't live under a rock, not metaphorically and not literally either.
edna
I didn´t know the song either...
miamisammy29
I believe it was ELO's first Top Ten single. And I was just sh*ttin' ya about the rock. Is it more of a cave or hollowed-out tree?
Lucky
Honestly Fin, if you notice, it's mostly us *ahem* old folks that remember and love the song. I agree, I think it was their first hit, but it probably does not get as much airplay today on classic rock stations. Definatly one of their best! The Seeker
Maybe, but they don't play it on the radio here. And no, sorry, no cave or tree either... a dump though.
