  1. I was strolling around YouTube when I came across a video about Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles." This was a interesting "behind the music" tale about Jerry Jeff Walker's days as a New Orleans Busker. This was from "All About Stuff," which was interesting, but featured "modern music" from "after the turn of the century." Then I saw a related post about "Take It Easy" by The Eagles by "Talking Music..." I looked at his videos and found this video maker featured interviews with band members, etc. So, the next time you're down in Winslow, Arizona, take a looks at the statues honoring the singer-songwriters "who put them on the map." Press PLAY to get on the Wayback Machine to 1969. All About Stuff: Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles"
  2. And now for something completely different. YouTube recommendations can verge on the bizarre; this popped up while I was looking for something about the "Firefly 10th Anniversary: Browncoats Unite" TV program. Submitted for a ROTFLMAO moment, with a 1969 movie about the year 2021. The Moon is more like a strip mall than the amusement park of Y3K "Futurama." A Big Shot is aiming to score a jewel-infested asteroid on "the dark side of the Moon." It's been described as a "Space Western," and it looks no better/worse than Netflix' clusterfork, "Cowboy Bebop." So put on your gun belt, there's some shooting to be done on the Moon.;) Firefly 10th Anniversary: Browncoats Unite
  3. "Techmoan" has Something Of Great Importance on his workbench. A recording of the July 20, 1969 Apollo 11 Moon landing audio+ rescued from a library's "clearing out the rubbish" campaign, along with a Space Age (1969) Philips 22 GF 303 portable record player, aka "Philips UFO." Both items might be found on eBay, though the record player is an "expensive collector's item." If you do find the recording, "play it like it's 1969" this Saturday to commemorate "One small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind." (Watch the "Capricorn One" video, instead, if you think "it was all done on a CIA movie set.";)
  4. Public TV and "public tv-like" stations such as the Smithsonian channel have been playing videos celebrating the U.S. space race to the moon. Submitted for your approval, two versions of a song that celebrates "One small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind."
  5. Here's an early Summer song from a singer-songwriter I'll bet no one has ever heard of. Step off the front porch, and the world unfurls before you, a seagoing sailor or pirate, checking the rigging and the course on an imaginary ship far from the sea. Long before the Internet, Smartphones, video cameras, or Instagram, all we had was our imagination to take us to faraway places, without the use of funny cigarettes or magic mushrooms...
  6. I ran into a Songfacts article about Trucker/Truck driving songs on Facebook. After listening to Taj Mahal's "Six Days On The Road," I remembered a singer-songwriter who "took to the road" between gigs to keep his family fed. It's not an "On The Road Again" significant song, but Experience rings through this short song about a driver on the road to Baltimore.;) (What, Baltimore isn't on other "trucker song" destinations?)
  7. Hi, Some of us on the FB fan Page are wondering who is the beautiful woman in the 1969 video version of "Young Girl" with Mr. Puckett and The Union Gap? Thank you
