  1. Hi Seamus. According to what I've read "Kretchma" was written by Gene Raskin and also recorded by Theodore Bikel on his album Bravo Bikel in the late 50's. Lyrics (might not be exact): When you hear Russian songs, do you suffer? Does your heart start to pound in your chest? If you do then come down to the Kretchma, It costs plenty, but it's from the best. And there is singing, and there is dancing, And the Russian vodka is all right. Come to the Kretchma, that's where you'll ketchma, Drinking vodka every night In the corner is standing a Cossak. You can see him from way down the block. And inside the candles are gleaming, But, except for the candles, it's dark. And there is singing and there is dancing, And the borsht and piroshki's all right. Come to the Kretchma, that's where you'll ketchma, Drinking vodka every night In the middle is standing Natasha, All the men are beginning to pant. When she's dancing her shoulders they vibrate, And when she's singing you see that she can't. And there is singing and there is dancing, And the Russian baritone's all right. Come to Kretchma, that's where you'll ketchma, Making whoopee every night.
  2. November 18: 1972: Cat Stevens began a three week run at No.1 on the US album chart with Catch Bull at Four . 1978: Billy Joel went to No.1 on the US album chart, for the first time, with 52nd Street. 1988: Phil Collins makes his big screen debut in a starring role, as Buster opens. It wasn't his official screen debut, because as a kid he was an extra in A Hard Days Night . 1992: Black Sabbath is honored with a star on the Rock Walk in Hollywood.
  3. I haven't heard "Old Red Wine" yet, but I just heard "Real Good Looking Boy", great tune. Glad to hear they can still make some good music... their album should be pretty interesting.
  4. Welcome Pink Bubbles! I like your poem and the way you conveyed your feelings so openly. Good job.
  5. November 17... 1962: The Four Seasons started a five week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with "Big Girls Don't Cry', the groups second No.1 of the year. It made No.13 in the UK. 1975: No.1 single on the UK charts was "Space Oddity" - David Bowie. In the US it was "Island Girl" - Elton John
  6. I agree Jr, his version is very touching. Other than "Always on My Mind" though I haven't heard a lot of Willie Nelson but I'd say one of my favorites is "Slow Down Old World": Slow down slow down old world There's no hurry cause My life ain't mine anymore I lived too fast Now it's too late to worry And I'm too blue to cry anymore I once was a fool for the women Now I'm just a fool nothing more So slow down slow down old world There's no hurry cause My life ain't mine anymore I once had a way with the women Till one got away with my heart So slow down slow down old world There's no hurry cause My life ain't mine anymore Cause my life ain't mine anymore
  7. A new album sounds awesome. Though, obviously seeing them at this point and without John wouldn't be as great but probably still cool. What I wouldn't give to have been able to see all four at their peak...

  16. Course not, its just silly rumors... I once heard that while bad things happened to Plant (car accident, his son's death) and Bonham (his death) because of a 'curse' resulting from their dealings with Satan, nothing much happened to Jones, leading people to think he hadn't made any 'deal'. Page was supposedly very close with the devil and he avoided misfortune somewhat.

  18. I heard that awhile back on a radio special about Zeppelin, how people thought they made a deal with the devil: their souls for musical brilliance and superstardom.
