  1. Hi, I've searched on Google, but all I've come up with so far is "Mr Brightside" by the Killers. Your sure its not them? "I'm coming out of my cage And I?ve been doing just fine Gotta gotta gotta be down Because I want it all It started out with a kiss How did it end up like this It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss Now I'm falling asleep And she's calling a cab While he's having a smoke And she's taking a drag Now they're going to bed And my stomach is sick And it's all in my head But she?s touching his chest Now, he takes off her dress Now, let me go I just can't look its killing me And taking control Jealousy, turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis But it's just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes 'Cause I'm Mr Brightside I'm coming out of my cage And I've been doing just fine Gotta gotta gotta be down Because I want it all It started out with a kiss How did it end up like this It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss Now I'm falling asleep And she's calling a cab While he's having a smoke And she's taking a drag Now they're going to bed And my stomach is sick And it's all in my head But she's touching his—chest Now, he takes off her dress Now, let me go I just can't look its killing me And taking control Jealousy, turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibi But it's just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes 'Cause I'm Mr Brightside I never... I never... I never..." But you said it wasn't, so I'll keep looking...
  2. Hi Leah, welcome to Songfacts, hope you enjoy it here.
  3. November 30: 1963: With The Beatles became the first million selling album in the UK. 1969: David Bowie, The Graham Bond Organization and Dusty Springfield performed at a fund raising show in London for youth magazine Rave . 1972: Wings released "Hi, Hi, Hi," which was banned from the BBC because of its "unsuitable lyrics." However, the song was a hit, making #5 in the U.K. and #10 in the U.S. in early 1973. 1974: The Eagles' "Best Of My Love" is released.
  4. That's a good one too, but not really one of my favorites... Another excellent song, IMO, also from Revolver, that I don't think has been mentioned yet is "For No One". A very lovely tune, beautiful lyrics and vocals by Paul, with a nice french horn solo by Alan Civil. I always found this one quite sad and touching. "Your day breaks, your mind aches You find that all her words of kindness linger on When she no longer needs you She wakes up, she makes up She takes her time and doesn't feel she has to hurry She no longer needs you And in her eyes you see nothing No sign of love behind the tears Cried for no one A love that should have lasted years You want her, you need her And yet you don't believe her when she said her love is dead You think she needs you And in her eyes you see nothing No sign of love behind the tears Cried for no one A love that should have lasted years You stay home, she goes out She says that long ago she knew someone but now he's gone She doesn't need him Your day breaks, your mind aches There will be times when all the things she said will fill your head You won't forget her And in her eyes you see nothing No sign of love behind the tears Cried for no one A love that should have lasted years" As others have said though, they had lots of great songs so its very difficult to choose only a few, let alone one.
  5. Yeah "Hey Bulldog" is underrated...great tune. I love this song, very sweet and delicate, its one of my favorites from Revolver. Good choice.
  6. November 29: 1969: No.1 on the US singles chart was "Come Together / Something" by the Beatles, their 18th US No.1. In the UK it was "Sugar, Sugar" by the Archies. 1978: Neil Young's 13th solo album, Comes a Time goes gold. 1986: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band's Live / 1975-85 started a seven week run at No.1 on the US album chart. 1995: Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar married model Kari Karte.
  7. People, regardless of religion, have the right to celebrate whatever they want. My family and I don't really celebrate the more pagan or commercial aspects of Christmas. We don't have a tree or decorate or anything like that, but we do get together (as we do often regardless of the time of year) to pray, read from the Bible, give gifts to each other and, most importantly, to celebrate God and Jesus, His birth and works, in the spirit of love, peace and giving.
  8. November 28: 1949: Paul Shaffer is born. 1960: Elvis Presley started a six week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with "Are You Lonesome Tonight", his third US No.1 of 1960. It reached No.1 in the UK in January the following year. 1963: "She Loves You" by The Beatles was back at No.1 for the second time on the UK singles chart. 1970: Bob Dylan went to No.1 on the UK chart with the album New Morning 1993: Steppenwolf drummer Jerry Edmonton was killed in a car crash. (1969 US No.2 & UK No.30 single "Born To Be Wild").
  9. I'd have to say "In My Life". The music is just beautiful and I especially enjoy the harpsichord-like solo. Both the vocals and the lyrics are wonderfully bittersweet... "There are places I'll remember all my life Though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places had their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these mem'ries lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I'll love you more Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I'll love you more In my life I'll love you more" ... overall an amazing song.
  10. "So Far Away" - David Gilmour "So Far Away" - The Searchers

  12. Thanks Jr. But the great websites that give the info really deserve the credit.
  13. "New Slang" was released in 2001 as a single and is also on their album Oh, Inverted World. Sort of a folk song with a lovely melody and a couple of nice guitar breaks. "The Needle and the Damage Done" - Neil Young
  14. November 24 1966: The Beatles begin recording sessions for the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" LP, laying tracks for "Strawberry Fields Forever" --- the track, however, doesn't make the album. 1973: Ringo Starr went to No.1 on the US singles chart with "Photograph". His first of two US chart toppers as a solo artist. 1983: Irish group The Undertones split up. 15. That would be King Crimson. New one: 1) Formed in 1968 in Birmingham, England 2) Progressive/Art rock band 3) They quickly put together their fourth (and breakthrough) album to pay for keyboardist's equipment
  16. November 23 1960: Elvis Presley was at No.1 on the US charts with "Are You Lonesome Tonight". 1974: Elton John started an 11 week run at No.1 on the UK chart with his Greatest Hits , album. It also enjoyed a 10-week run as the US No.1. 1975: Queen started a nine week run at No.1 in the UK with "Bohemian Rhapsody". 19. I enjoyed this one a lot, great job PF. These are some of my favorite lines:
  20. November 21... 1960: Ray Charles has four hits in the Hot 100: "Georgia on My Mind" at #5, "Ruby" at #61, "Hard Hearted Hannah" at #66 and "Come Rain or Come Shine" (used as the theme song of the 1983 film King of Comedy) at #95. 1967: Decca Records releases the Who's album, "The Who Sell Out". 1982: Joni Mitchell marries her bassist and producer Larry Klein in Malibu. 1988: Jimmy Page begins his first ever solo tour at The Hummingbird, Birmingham, appearing with John Miles and Jason Bonham. 2003: An acoustic guitar on which the late Beatle George Harrison learned to play fetches £276,000 at a London auction. 21. November 20... Birthdays: 1942: Norman Greenbaum 1946: Duane Allman 1947: Joe Walsh 1973: Keith Moon collapses twice during the first date of the Who's U.S. tour, in San Francisco. First, he falls over his set during "Won't Get Fooled Again." Then after being tended to backstage, Moon plays for another ten minutes before he's carried off again. So, Pete Townsend asks for a volunteer from the crowd to replace him and a 19 year old came up and finished the show. The kid was Scott Halpin, who took a shot of brandy and sat down at his idol Moon's drum kit. Townsend counted off and Halpin began drumming. 1991: The Rolling Stones sign a $45 million deal with Virgin, making them rock's highest paid group (the record has since been beaten).
  22. I like the way it gradually builds from the simple acoustic melody to that awesome solo and I also really like Plant's vocals. I just think it's a unique, powerful song, though not my favorite Zeppelin tune. I'm 16 so I haven't heard it as often as a lot of people, but I understand how hearing it over and over kind of wrecked it for some.
