  1. Well, we've done intros....what's the best outro? What's the best damned exit from a toon that you know? And don't say Layla...it's rubbish } My vote.......Jailbreak...Lizzy Live
  2. Gosh...the folk I haven't met would fill several pages....I went to the same school as one of the blokes from Nerve Rack but he was several years below me...if I'd only known they'd be famous one day I might have paid more attention
  3. The Vietnamese don't usually celebrate Xmas....but they will be hanging Glitter this year....
  4. Just bought the DVD of Warriors yesterday...timeless classic
  5. One, two, free, four.... The memories of a man in his old age Are the deeds of a man in his prime. You shuffle in gloom of the sickroom And talk to yourself as you die. ........
  6. Follow the link and catch up with the gigs. http://www.7secondsoflove.com/winners/
  7. Perhaps an 'unplugged' session? Very popular with the 80's fraternity
  8. You better 'get the word out' if there's to be a reunion...this site would be a good place. I, for one, would pay good money to see the inestimable, no sorry, estimable Nerve Rack back
  9. I could've sworn that was all one song...it's track 3 on their seminal album 'Unhinged'...track 4 is Rottweilers. So stick that up yer chuff!
  10. One of my fave bands of all times, scarcely a bad song...no-one's ever heard of them at all over here...Hey jealousy got a little airplay, we (our little pub band) used to cover Cheatin' and, over ten years only one member of the audience ever recognised it. (Mind you, it could've been how we played it) I'd vote for... Eye and Socket Moustache Buggery by Nerve Rack...massive in the UK, whatever happened to them?
  11. Hey BF...in between wipeouts, isn't it time you got yourself a cool avatar? :happybanana:
  12. Check out this lot...frightening really. My fave is Rock'n'roll but the Arctic Monkey's cover sounds better than the original to me...what do you reckon? http://www.xfm.co.uk/Article.asp?b=onair&id=146078
  13. I saw Rod Stewart performing some dross off his most recent pile of ordure...the Great American Songbook no. 27 or something...I turned off the TV as it was sooooo bad. Don't get me wrong, I love his very early stuff and think he had a great (squandered) talent. Anyway...his voice was sooooo rough (and the song soooo shite)....I wonder if he's not....... ...the Hoarse Foreman of the Apocalypse.
  14. Mother told me, yes, she told me I’d meet girls like you. She also told me, stay away, you’ll never know what you’ll catch. Just the other day I heard a soldier falling off some indonesian junk that’s going round. Mommy’s alright, daddy’s alright, they just seem a little weird. Surrender, surrender, but don’t give yourself away, ay, ay, ay. Father says, your mother’s right, she’s really up on things. Before we married, mommy served in the wacs in the philippines. Now, I had heard the wacs recruited old maids for the war. But mommy isn’t one of those, I’ve known her all these years. Mommy’s alright, daddy’s alright, they just seem a little weird. Surrender, surrender, but don’t give yourself away, ay, ay, ay. Whatever happened to all this season’s losers of the year? Ev’ry time I got to thinking, where’d they disappear? When I woke up, mom and dad are rolling on the couch. Rolling numbers, rock and rolling, got my kiss records out. Mommy’s alright, daddy’s alright, they just seem a little weird. Surrender, surrender, but don’t give yourself away, ay, ay, ay. Away. Away. Great song...bugger to sing though
  15. Great idea......now, where do we start? Maybe we should admit some of the albums that we have, but aren't sure why, just to balance it up.. I don't have any Coldplay, U2, Keane...but forgawdsake...I do have Anthony and The Johnsons (and it sucks chunks)
  16. He's just been arrested apparently...just on the news
  17. What eagerly awaited or wildly over promoted album or gig gave you the worst feeling of being conned out of your hard earned cash? Has anyone here ever actually sat all the way through Metal Machine Music?
  18. The Rocker by Thin Lizzy has a superb wah solo on the album, but the single ends on the first note of the solo...always drove me nuts Another thread might include the perfect length solo and I'd vote for Alright Now and One of these Nights. Two beautifully composed and perfectly executed solos that stop just in the right place...I might add Honky Tonk Women if I'd been drinking...but I haven't
  19. I seem to have reached a venerable age and a pretty impressive collection of albums covering a fairly wide selection of music from Aqualung to Zappa....and I haven't got any Beatles, nor have I ever felt the need. Maybe it's because I heard them all the time on the radio and TV and all the tunes are so familiar (I can even play some of them on the guitar without owning a copy)that I don't need to have the albums. I've got no Abba either Strange though, I've got two Monkees albums. I'd add 'Ship Arrives too Late to Save a Drowning Witch to the Zappa list above (all of which I've got) and I'm with blind-fitter on the U2 axis, I'd rather chew my own foot off. Same goes for Coldplay....but I've said all that on different threads. I've got no Beach Boys either, now I think about it...does that make me a bad man
  20. Do you think your big brother/little sister have got crap taste in music? How do you educate your kids to like 'decent' music....has your grandmother ever turned you on to a band? Just curious
  21. The Police, Blondie and Elvis C did, indeed, turn up on many 'punk' compilations in the UK (as did Squeeze) but nobody seriously thought they were punks. By the way, the Pistols were not a 'manufactured band' like, hand picked and auditioned...in the same sense as the Monkees were (for instance) they were a real bunch of blokes in a band who were picked up and 'launched' by their manager....just like the Sweet (for example) and many other bands...searching for an image. I'd vote for the Pink Fairies and the Edgar Broughton Band in the UK and MC5 in the states...remember we're talking lifestyle here as well, playing for free, fighting the man...etc etc.
  22. Retribution aside, I have the awful feeling that Lennon's legacy was saved by Chapman....Lennon was showing all the signs of descending into self parody and mediocrity. The old saying is...'live fast and die leaving a pretty corpse'....Morrisson did it, Hendrix did it, Joplin did it, Monroe, Hank Williams,Gram Parsons, Buddy Holly, Kurt Cobain, Buckley J, Buckley T etc. All their reputations have grown and been preserved forever ...Phil Collins and Elton John shoulda done it. Anyone want to start the 'Who's reputation would be bigger now if they were dead?' thread?
  23. OK...so the Rock world was turned upside down by 'punk'....but who were the 'real deal'? Who are the godfathers/mothers of punk....and of which of their offspring would they be most proud?
