This is pretty much like the "Waters or Gilmour" thread, only with, you guessed it, Lennon and McCartney. I've tried to figure which is better, but it's been impossible. So, I decided to ask all of you. There could've been a thread like this before, (it's hard to believe there wasn't) but I was unable to find it. Thanks.

it's kinda rough though putting the stones, the doors, pink floyd, and the beatles all in the same group. i'll make sure to vote when i can.

unlike tom sawyer, i'm pretty sure that stairway ends up #1 or #2 because people find this site in searching for info about it. incidentally, that's actually how i found this site, i was looking up on all that stairway backwards nonsense. this site had so many facts, i became what you may call "a regular." even though i may not hit the boards quite as hard as others.

I recently started listening to Chicago, and have found them to be excellant, with their own distinctive sound and quality to their music. Upon some research I've seen that they are not in the Rock and Roll HOF, despite:
13 platinum albums
5 #1 albums
20 top 10 singles
5 #1 singles
over 120 million record sales
I was just wondering how everyone else liked Chicago, and if they have any idea how they're not in the hall.

it's strange, but many of the songs that i love the most, ("kashmir" "imagine" "baba o'riley") aren't even in my top 20 listened to. this is probably biased though based on cd's i've got recently, (best of bowie, the white album, the kinks ultimate collection) and its only based on since around january.

"The Who Sell Out" The Who
One of the most under rated albums ever. When I bought it I thought it was decent, but the more I listen the more I love it. Being modeled after a pirate 60's radio station, it has a comical feeling, but still delivers some of the more aggressive rock we've come to expect from the Who, ("I Can See For Miles," "Armenia City in the Sky," "Melancolia," and "Hall of the Mountain King" come to mind). This album also includes tracks written by all of the members, as opposed to only Townshend.

pretty much all the stuff that's been said, but i have a weird thing with styx. i really have nothing against them but whenever i hear a styx song i get pretty pissed off for really no reason.

First off, this is a great thread CanAm, but you need to listen to some Floyd, at least Dark Side. I generally agree with all off you that it was really going out on a limb with doing the 500 greatest songs, and that they did a decent job. I don't get how "Stairway to Heaven" is in the thirty's though. It annoys me that they most likely did that just to show that they are different from other lists, but they need to show more respect for one of the greatest songs of all time. Anyhow, here's my 11 favorite songs, not exactly the 11 best of all time. It really was neccessary to have 11 though to include all the songs that I think needed recognition.
