  1. how can no one have the stones yet here's a link for a good one http://www.winwoodfans.com/logo.htm it's the traffic logo, i've always found it interesting.
  2. This is pretty much like the "Waters or Gilmour" thread, only with, you guessed it, Lennon and McCartney. I've tried to figure which is better, but it's been impossible. So, I decided to ask all of you. There could've been a thread like this before, (it's hard to believe there wasn't) but I was unable to find it. Thanks.
  3. hmmm...i'd probably have to say Stairway to Heaven- Led Zeppelin Sympathy for the Devil- Rolling Stones Wish You Were Here- Pink Floyd (getting tough from here) "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End" The Beatles "Baba O'Riley" The Who a more appropriate thread for people might be a "definitive top couple of songs that you like more than the others" list
  4. that's awesome it's kinda rough though putting the stones, the doors, pink floyd, and the beatles all in the same group. i'll make sure to vote when i can.
  5. unlike tom sawyer, i'm pretty sure that stairway ends up #1 or #2 because people find this site in searching for info about it. incidentally, that's actually how i found this site, i was looking up on all that stairway backwards nonsense. this site had so many facts, i became what you may call "a regular." even though i may not hit the boards quite as hard as others.
  6. I recently started listening to Chicago, and have found them to be excellant, with their own distinctive sound and quality to their music. Upon some research I've seen that they are not in the Rock and Roll HOF, despite: 13 platinum albums 5 #1 albums 20 top 10 singles 5 #1 singles over 120 million record sales I was just wondering how everyone else liked Chicago, and if they have any idea how they're not in the hall.
  7. you know, i've actually heard that story (or a variation of it) before. truly depressing. i never really thought of it relating to that song though.
  8. i was actually listening to this song when i saw this post, "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" Traffic
  9. is there something especially great about this song to have either #1 or #2 everday on the most viewed list? i personally think that someone just looks at it nearly 100 times to get it there. whoever you are, show yourself!
  10. thanks, and sorry about posting this twice. that was an accident.
  11. have the message boards been really slow to load for anyone else? it's possible it's just my computer, but it's a real pain not being able to get on here a lot of the time. thanks.
  12. kevin, thanks a lot man, i enjoyed reading your post. great work.
  13. could anyone give me any info on the GnR song "civil war"? there's nothing about it here. and, why do they always do those weird clips of people talking in the middle of their songs? thanks :guitar:
  14. i just found that on ipod and itunes it can show my most played songs. many of them surprised me because they're not neccessarily my favorites, but they're all great songs. Anyhow, here they are: 1. "Lola" The Kinks 2. "Rocky Raccoon" The Beatles 3. "Space Oddity" David Bowie 4. "Sympathy For The Devil" Rolling Stones 5. "Wish You Were Here" Pink Floyd 6. "Happiness is a Warm Gun" The Beatles 7. "Time Has Come Today" The Chambers Brothers 8. "Stairway to Heaven" Led Zeppelin 9. "Ramble On" Led Zeppelin 10. "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" Blue Oyster Cult 11. "Tangled Up In Blue" Bob Dylan 12. "Castles Made of Sand" Jimi Hendrix 13. "Carry That Weight/The End/Her Majesty" The Beatles 14. "Join Together" The Who 15. "A Well Respected Man" The Kinks 16. "Walk on the Wild Side" Lou Reed 17. "Helter Skelter" The Beatles 18. "L.A. Woman" The Doors 19. "Waterloo Sunset" The Kinks 20. "Rebel Rebel" David Bowie it's strange, but many of the songs that i love the most, ("kashmir" "imagine" "baba o'riley") aren't even in my top 20 listened to. this is probably biased though based on cd's i've got recently, (best of bowie, the white album, the kinks ultimate collection) and its only based on since around january.
  15. "The Who Sell Out" The Who One of the most under rated albums ever. When I bought it I thought it was decent, but the more I listen the more I love it. Being modeled after a pirate 60's radio station, it has a comical feeling, but still delivers some of the more aggressive rock we've come to expect from the Who, ("I Can See For Miles," "Armenia City in the Sky," "Melancolia," and "Hall of the Mountain King" come to mind). This album also includes tracks written by all of the members, as opposed to only Townshend.
  16. syd, i read the exact same thing about the red snapper incident in a Led Zep biography i read.
  17. I bet you've already had something like this, but I'm attempting to make a cowbell CD, and I just need about 25 more minutes. Here's what I have so far: "(Don't Fear)The Reaper" Blue Oyster Cult "Walk This Way" Aerosmith "A Hard Days Night" The Beatles "Everybodys Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey" The Beatles "Taxman" The Beatles "Rebel Rebel" David Bowie "Time Has Come Today" The Chambers Brothers (major cowbell) "Houses of the Holy" Led Zeppelin "Good Times, Bad Times" Led Zeppelin "Gimme Three Steps" Lynyrd Skynyrd "Honky Tonk Woman" Rolling Stones "Pigs (3 Different Ones)" Pink Floyd just post a song if you know it has a cowbell. thanks. :guitar:
  18. pretty much all the stuff that's been said, but i have a weird thing with styx. i really have nothing against them but whenever i hear a styx song i get pretty pissed off for really no reason.
  19. I can't believe no one's said this yet but when John Lennon says "f***ing hell" before the long chorus of "na-na-na-na's" in "Hey Jude".
  20. First off, this is a great thread CanAm, but you need to listen to some Floyd, at least Dark Side. I generally agree with all off you that it was really going out on a limb with doing the 500 greatest songs, and that they did a decent job. I don't get how "Stairway to Heaven" is in the thirty's though. It annoys me that they most likely did that just to show that they are different from other lists, but they need to show more respect for one of the greatest songs of all time. Anyhow, here's my 11 favorite songs, not exactly the 11 best of all time. It really was neccessary to have 11 though to include all the songs that I think needed recognition. 11. "Time Has Come Today" The Chambers Brothers 10. "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" Traffic 9. "Comfortably Numb" Pink Floyd 8. "L.A. Woman" The Doors 7. "Lola" The Kinks 6. "Baba O'Riley" The Who 5. "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" Blue Oyster Cult 4. "Walk on the Wild Side" Lou Reed 3. "Sympathy for the Devil" Rolling Stones 2. "Stairway to Heaven" Led Zeppelin 1. "Wish You Were Here" Pink Floyd
  21. Thanks Enda, This band: 1. Had a former Beatle as a memeber. And; 2. All the band members had the same fake last name. hope this is enough. im sure someone'll get it, everyone here's much smarter than i am.
  22. I'm pretty sure chandler was hendrix's manager, but is the answer slade? i think chandler produced that movie they did.
  23. probably "I'm Not Like Everybody Else" by the Kinks or "Get Off My Cloud" by the Stones
