  3. i heard a horrible cover of "I Am the Walrus," but it was too terrible to listen through the whole thing to see who it was by.
  4. The Shins totally rock. I saw them perform at Brown University and they were something else. "Young Pilgrims" and "So Says I" are probably their best works, they both sound like they could be straight out of the late 60's/early 70's. You can listen to "So Says I" and hear/see some of their other stuff here on theshins.com in the downloads section.
  5. i'm pretty sure Julian's drawing is at a beatles exhibit in the rock n roll hall of fame. i highly suggest anyone take a trip to cleveland to go there
  6. this is my parody to "Pinball Wizard," hope you like it. PING-PONG WIZARD Ever since he was a young boy, he liked to play ping-pong, And now he tours the world, from Vegas to Hong Kong, If you make fun that he's Asian, he'll tell you "dude, that's wrong" Lee Shway Ho Mong, sure plays a mean ping-pong He good at math and his'try, and in science he does well, But when he speaks in English, he can't pronounce the "L" He destroyed all the Germans and the Russians they all fell, 'cause Lee Shway Ho Mong, sure plays a mean ping-pong He's a ping-pong wizard, he's China's biggest hit, Compared to Caucasian's his eyes they are just slits (how do you think he does it?) (oh I know) (it's 'cause he's Chinese) The tallest in his fam'ly, a soaring five foot three, In his old backyard, they swing from bonzai tree, He got his playing style, from the great Bruce Lee, that Lee Shway Ho Mong, sure plays a mean ping-pong, He is at least 50 times better than me, But that's 'cause I was born in the year of the monkey He's a prodigy, but he ain't blind dumb or deaf, He got to be a guest judge on the hit show Iron Chef, Now to that stereotyped Chinese dude I dedicate this song, 'cause Lee Shway Ho Mong, sure plays a mean ping-pong...
  7. Singer Marc Cohn shot in head miraculously survived 12:21 2005-08-09 A Grammy-winning singer Marc Cohn and husband of ABC news reporter Elizabeth Vargas was treated at a hospital and released Monday after being shot in the head during an attempted carjacking following a performance. Police said Cohn had performed at the Denver Botanical Gardens on Sunday night and was driving back to his hotel with band members when a man who was fleeing security officers tried to carjack their van. The van's driver tried to drive around the gunman, who then fired, striking Cohn, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said, CNN reports. "Marc Cohn was shot in the head above his right temple. The bullet was lodged in his head but has since been taken out," Malluk said. Sonny Jackson said the bullet appeared to have been slowed by the van's windshield and by striking the vehicle's driver first. "Frankly, I can't tell you how he survived," Jackson was quoted as saying by AP. Cohn's road manager, Tom Dube, was injured in the attack by flying glass that hit him in the face and eye, said Malluk. Dube has also been released from the hospital. Police interviewed Cohn and the other band members Monday morning, Jackson said. The suspect, identified as wanted felon Joseph Yacten, remains on the loose. Jackson said Yacten had been arrested in late June on possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon by a previous felon. Yacteen also allegedly fired several shots while fleeing security guards and trying to take a car from a woman. He eventually disappeared in a stolen SUV. Yacteen is being sought on attempted first-degree murder, robbery and other charges. Authorities said he missed a court date July 15 on a drug and weapons charge. The man, who was out on $25,000 bond, was to have appeared in court July 15 but failed to show up, Jackson said. He said that before the shooting, the gunman had tried to use a credit card at a nearby hotel but then immediately ran from the building. He tried to carjack another vehicle as security guards pursued him, and then came across Cohn's vehicle.
  8. I actually just bought The Velvet Underground & Nico. I've only really listened to the whole thing through twice, but I've already decided "Heroin" is my favorite on the album. Awesome song. Awesome band.
  9. i was wondering if anyone could give me any insight to the Yoko Ono references in the Roger Waters song 5:01 AM (The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking Pt. 10). The lines are; Oh babe, I must be dreaming I'm standing on the leading edge The Eastern seaboard spread before my eyes "Jump" says Yoko Ono "I'm too scared and too good looking" I cried "Go on", she says "Why don't you give it a try? Why prolong the agony all men must die" and The body on the plain Did you understand the music Yoko Or was it all in vain?
  10. "Woke up this morning, don't believe what I saw..." (the Police/Message in a Bottle) not quite Blues but it was the first thing to come to mind
  11. I just recently purchased Bruce Springsteens newest album, 'Devils and Dust,' (which, by the way, I've greatly enjoyed). But I noticed on the back there is a big "ANTI-PIRACY" logo, and I have been unable to copy the songs to my computer. Is it possible that there is any relation there? And has anyone else had this problem with a CD they bought? thanks

  17. eggplant, while i respect your opinion, i'll be the first to say, "what the f---!?" and leave the rest of the explaining to people with superior knowledge and better writing abilites than i. anyways, i think that KISS is over rated.
  18. "The Who Sell Out" -The Who as hard as it is to believe any Who stuff is forgotten, this '67 album doesn't seem to get any recognition from anyone. this album really covers all the bases of classic rock, there's pop, classic Who rock, funny comercials, and some selling out, just to include all the aspects. this is truely a great album that i recommend to anyone.
  19. More Than A Feelin' Alright (boston+traffic)
  20. surprisingly enough, over the course of a typical day at my high school, walking down the halls, you'll probably stumble upon: 2 dark side shirts 1 other pink floyd shirt 3 or 4 zeppelin shirts 1 or 2 hendrix, the beatles, or the who shirts a bob marley shirt 0 nsync, backstreet boys, etc. shirts in 50 years, zeppelin music will still kick a$$, (though they are not "supernatural beings"), and britney spears will likely have died from some STD she picked up in a trailer park.
