  1. I was in Jr high school (7th grade) and The Beatles were my favorite band at the time. My two best friends and I were in shock. I still remember the morning after, just sitting around the fountain at the school at brunch time. None of us could really let it sink in.

Also memorable were the tributes on the radio station I listened to, 94.7 KMET. Especially Jim Ladd who was (and still is) famous for his commentary and then playing music that supported his thoughts. I think the tributes and non stop Beatle/John Lennon music went on for a week.

  2. The first song that popped into my head when I heard Sparks was "Mickey Mouse."

    "Mickey Mouse" by Sparks

Can you raise both your hands and clap 'em

Can you say, "sure, I'll always try"

Can you make friends among people and animals

    Basically, everything is easy

Give it a try, you'll see I'm right

Cause if a mouse can be special, well so can you

And my name is Mickey Mouse

To the right is Minnie Mouse

And we own a little place in Disneyland, California

Let's have a party and be happy

Can we invite our closest friends

We can ask Donald Duck, Pluto, and all the gang

And my name is Mickey Mouse

To the right is Minnie Mouse

And we own a little place in Disneyland, California

Well, you should try to smile, dear

    Get yourself a pet deer

    dog

    cat

    bird

    pig

    lamb

    horse

    cow

  3. I was in Chile last month and some guys we're commenting on my accent. Of course of I have an accent to people in Chile, but I was wondering what do Americans think we sound like? What (if you can descirbe it) does our accent sound like?

I dont hear a difference (except for a few words.) I think the biggest difference is I have never heard a Canadian butcher the English language like my "peeps" do...

  4. I was not even aware that a Telecaster bass existed. I Googled it, and found that they are sought after by collecters. They can go for as much as $2000.00. Of the two reviews I found, both loved the T-bass, but would not pay 2 grand for one. They look like a P-bass, but the neck is different. I was unable to find any Telecater basses that were made after the early 70's.

I read on some bass guy web page the following about a Tele bass: "the closest thing you could get new is a custom shop reissue of the 51 p-bass. If you get an old tele bass i would go for the single as apposed to the humbucker,(i.e. pre 1970. I have a 69 and it is great....good luck finding one."

  5. The Ballad of Jed Clampett-Paul Henning

    Opening Theme:

Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed

A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,

Then one day he was shootin at some food,

And up through the ground came a bubblin crude.

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol Jed's a millionaire,

Kinfolk said "Jed move away from there"

Said "Californy is the place you ought to be"

So they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.

Hills, that is. Swimmin pools, movie stars.

    Closing Theme:

Well now its time to say goodbye to Jed and all his kin.

And they would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin in.

You're all invited back a gain to this locality

To have a heapin helpin of their hospitality

Hillybilly that is. Set a spell, Take your shoes off.

    Y'all come back now, y'hear?.

  6. A statue of the late Johnny Ramone will be unveiled in Los Angeles on January 14 in the Hollywood Forever Cemetary, near the burial site of bandmate Dee Dee Ramone. The monument is inscribed with a quote from Johnny, saying, "If a man can judge success by how many great friends he has, then I have been very successful."

  7. Danny Sugarman, manager for The Doors, passed away Wednesday at the age of 50 after a battle with lung cancer. Sugarman co-wrote the 1980 Doors biography No One Here Gets Out Alive and served as an advisor on Oliver Stone's 1991 film about the band. ?Danny is standing side-by-side with his great friend, Jim Morrison, and the two of them will now be laughing together into eternity,? Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek said in a statement.
