Dont forget The Band... you know the songs..."The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"..."Up On Cripple Creek"..."The Weight"...all good stuff. I cant think of the sixties w/o thinking of "The Weight."

On 01-27-68 "(SITTIN' ON) THE DOCK OF THE BAY" was released. This was about 6 weeks after the artist, Otis Redding, died...

Aint Love Grand is not the best example of their work. Check out "Los Angeles" "Wild Gift" "Under the Big Black Sun" or even "Live at the Whiskey A Go Go". That was X at their best IMHO. "See How We Are" is good too, but not like their earlier stuff...

Happy Australia Day!!!
So, how do you celebrate? Fireworks and such like our 4th of July? It is summer down under right now, so I guess a BBQ is in order, too.....

I used to have dreams about being in shootings on a regular basis. Something would always go wrong with my pistol, or my bullets were moving in slow motion. The nice thing was, I never got shot in my dreams and something funny or weird seemed to always happen. Have not had one of those dreams in a while....

As long as we are posting "star songs"....
Shining Star-E,W&F
When you wish upon a star
Dreams will take you very far, yeah
But when you wish upon a dream
Life ain't always what it seems, oh yeah
What'd you see, on nights so clear
In the sky, so very dear, yeah
You're a shining star
No matter who you are
Shining bright to see
What you could truly be
(What you could truly be)
Shining star come into view
To shine its watchful light on you, yeah
Give you strength to carry on, yeah
Girl, make your body big and strong, yeah
Born a man-child of the sun, yeah
Yeah, saw my work had just begun
Yeah, Found I had to stand alone, yeah
Well bless it now I've got my own, oh yeah
So if you find yourself in need
Why dontcha listen to these worlds of heed
Be a giant, or grain of sand
Words of wisdom - "Yes, I can"
You're a shining star
No matter who you are
Shining bright to see
What you can truly be
[Repeat 3x]
Shining star, for you to see
What your life can truly be

The "Our House" guy is Graham 'Suggs' McPherson from the 80's ska band "Madness."
-
"Gabba gabba we accept you, we accept you, one of us"
- Pinhead, The Ramones
That came from the 1932 movie, "Freaks" directed by Tod Browning.

This is my favorite...
YOU NEVER EVEN CALLED ME BY MY NAME
(Steve Goodman)
David Allan Coe - 1975
WELL, IT WAS ALL THAT I COULD DO TO KEEP FROM CRYIN'
SOMETIMES IT SEEMED SO USELESS TO REMAIN
BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL ME DARLIN', DARLIN'
YOU NEVER EVEN CALL ME BY MY NAME
YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL ME WAYLON JENNINGS
AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL ME CHARLIE PRIDE
AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL ME MERLE HAGGARD ANYMORE
EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE ON MY FIGHTIN' SIDE
AND I'LL HANG AROUND AS LONG AS YOU WILL LET ME
AND I NEVER MINDED STANDIN' IN THE RAIN
BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL ME DARLIN', DARLIN'
YOU NEVER EVEN CALLED ME BY MY NAME
WELL, I'VE HEARD MY NAME A FEW TIMES IN YOUR PHONE BOOK (Hello, Hello)
AND I'VE SEEN IT ON SIGNS WHERE I'VE PLAYED
BUT THE ONLY TIME I KNOW I'LL HEAR "DAVID ALLAN COE"
IS WHEN JESUS HAS HIS FINAL JUDGMENT DAY
SO I'LL HANG AROUND AS LONG AS YOU WILL LET ME
AND I NEVER MINDED STANDIN' IN THE RAIN
BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL ME DARLIN', DARLIN'
YOU NEVER EVEN CALLED ME BY MY NAME
SPOKEN:
WELL, A FRIEND OF MINE NAMED STEVE GOODMAN WROTE THAT SONG AND
HE TOLD ME IT WAS THE PERFECT COUNTRY & WESTERN SONG. I WROTE
HIM BACK A LETTER AND I TOLD HIM IT WAS NOT THE PERFECT COUNTRY
& WESTERN SONG BECAUSE HE HADN'T SAID ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT MAMA,
OR TRAINS, OR TRUCKS, OR PRISON, OR GETTIN' DRUNK. WELL HE SAT
DOWN AND WROTE ANOTHER VERSE TO THE SONG AND HE SENT IT TO ME,
AND AFTER READING IT, I REALIZED THAT MY FRIEND HAD WRITTEN THE
PERFECT COUNTRY & WESTERN SONG. AND I FELT OBLIGED TO INCLUDE IT
ON THIS ALBUM. THE LAST VERSE GOES LIKE THIS HERE:
WELL, I WAS DRUNK THE DAY MY MOM GOT OUT OF PRISON
AND I WENT TO PICK HER UP IN THE RAIN
BUT BEFORE I COULD GET TO THE STATION IN MY PICKUP TRUCK
SHE GOT RUNNED OVER BY A DAMNED OLD TRAIN
AND I'LL HANG AROUND AS LONG AS YOU WILL LET ME
AND I NEVER MINDED STANDIN' IN THE RAIN
NO, A' YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL ME DARLIN', DARLIN'
YOU NEVER EVEN CALL ME
WELL I WONDER WHY YOU DON'T CALL ME
WHY DON'T YOU EVER CALL ME BY MY NAME

I would not be suprised if a loofa was involved somewhere, but I specifically remember talk of vibratory shenanigans...
-
If you believe the woman that accused him of sexual harassment, he is a sexual deviant with a penchants for vibrators. Must be something to it, as he settled out of court. I think it would be interesting to follow him around for a day or two...
-
,,,not that there is anything wrong with that......

We can rule out Elvis if it was recoreded 23 years ago....

I was a punk in the early eighties. When my friends and I would go to shows, especially ones in Hollywood, the heavy metal big hair guys would always have some remarks for us, and we would have something to say back. Once in awhile, they would throw stuff and then there would be a fight...
