  1. The first band that comes to mind is the one most talked about... Rock's first supergroup, "Blind Faith." Funny thing is, I bought the 'gold' disc of that album (got it really cheap) and never cared for it in the first place (I thought that maybe after all those years, I might like it....... wrong!). If I made a list of boring 'classic' albums, that one would definitely make the list.
  2. Since I've been on 'The Monkees' kick of late, it would be cool to have either 'Alice Cooper' or 'Butch Walker' cover their tunes. And what tunes? As We Go Along Porpoise Song Sometime in the Morning Forget that Girl Papa Gene's Blues Someday Man Take a Giant Step Saturday's Child Let's Dance On Hold On Girl For Pete's Sake Randy Scouse Git Love Is Only Sleeping Tapioca Tundra Zor And Zam Circle Sky Long Title: Do I Have To Do This All Over Again
  3. Check out this thread ---> Clicky Clicky Bang Bang
  4. You know, going over the lyrics it would be safe to say that the whole tune is a tribute to "Spanish Castle."
  5. "Spanish Castle" is a dance hall somewhere in Washington State (I don't recall the city/town) that was a really hopping place back in the 60's. Many musicians from that area played there. Jimi wrote it partly as a homage (to that place) hence the song title. Ant
  6. We used to have on records "Seven Separate Fools" (someone at ebay has one for sale with all original 7 cards), "CYAN" and "American Pastime." Actually, I still have the latter in a box down in the basement. My '5' favs of TDN - - The Show Must Go On - Prelude to Morning - Freedom for the Stallion - Everybody's a Masterpiece - Black & White
  7. I've had that site in my favourites for a long time and just checked to make sure it's still there ... yep! Anyway, I would play the highest rated one to friends on the messenger. Here, this link will take you to what's rated the worst ---> It's the first one on the list edit - I just remembered; they use real player. I won't use it anymore. Does anyone know how to tranfer their files (ends in .ra) to .asf, etc.?
  8. Good questions and here's some info ... Cat Stevens Bio FAQ
  9. I hear ya - you ask a queston about Avril, Brittney, etc., and you have these peeps ranting about how they suck or what not. Geeeesh! If these peeps loathe them so much, than why do they waste their time listening to their music? Don't they have better things to do? As for Avril - I live 20 minutes away from her hometown. Actually, she was born and raised here in my city for her (I think) first 5 years and moved on to Napanee. Sorry, just a ramblin' and straying from your question :: You said the first tune sounds like country? It's probably an older tune for she sang C&W and that's how she got noticed (from Shania Twain). I'm not sure about the 2nd tune.
  10. This should ease your mind - I have the CDs and in the liner notes, there is no mention of an interpolation or borrowing the melody from another tune. By law, they have to mention it or face plagiarism suits.
  11. I just randomly picked a year. It may not be the best year but I sure enjoyed it, including those 2 tunes aforementioned. My love for music is well diversed ... in my collection you'll find Megadeth, Overkill, and Sepultura to The Monkees, Olivia Newton-John, and Judy Collins. Gosh, I have a mix of everything except new country and polka (but I do want some polka; reminds me of my Dad). That list is very nostalgic to me. I'll disagree about your accessment of "Moonlight Feels Right." It was ground-breaking ... that xylophone solo does for xylophones like EVH's "Eruption" did for guitarists ... explosive! Just opinions. I don't really have '1' favourite year in music. It's all good. Ant
  12. Here are the lyrics ... "Low" by Cracker Sometimes I wanna take you down. Sometimes I wanna get you low. Brush your hair back from your eyes. Take you down let the river flow. Sometimes I go and walk the street Behind the green sheet of glass. A million miles below their feet A million miles, a million miles Chorus: I?ll be with you girl Like being low Hey hey hey like being stone. I?ll be with you girl Like being low Hey hey hey like being stone. A million poppies gonna make me sleep. Just one rose and knows your name The fruit is rusting on the vine The fruit is calling from the trees Hey don?t you wanna go down Like some junkie cosmonaut A million miles below their feet A million miles a million miles Chorus Blue blue is the sun. Brown brown is the sky. Green green of her eyes. A million miles a million miles Hey hey don?t you wanna go down Like some disgraced cosmonaut A million miles below their feet A million miles a million miles Chorus
  13. I'm pretty sure the tune you're after is "Low" by Cracker. I have the CD (it's called "Kerosene Hat") and haven't played it in years. I'll do a search for the lyrics in a bit ... Ant
  14. 1976 was a great year for radio More Than a Feeling - Boston (Don't Fear) The Reaper - Blue Oytser Cult The Boys Are Back in Town - Thin Lizzy Tonight's the Night - Rod Stewart Beth/Detroit Rock City - KISS Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac The Things We Do for Love - 10 CC Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry Lowdown - Boz Scaggs Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band Don't Go Breaking My Heart - Elton John & Kiki Dee If You Leave Me Now - Chicago Show Me the Way - Peter Frampton Moonlight Feels Right - Starbuck Welcome Back - John Sebastian Never Gonna Fall In Love Again - Eric Carmen Mamma Mia - Abba Let ?Em In - Paul McCartney & Wings Blinded By The Light - Manfred Mann's Earth Band Breezin' - George Benson I Never Cry - Alice Cooper Devil Woman - Cliff Richard You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine - Lou Rawls Let Her In - John Travolta I'll stop there ... there were many, many great tunes that year (of course, other great years as well). :guitar:
  15. Not necessarily my fav intros, but check them out ---> 'INTROMANIA' Yes, they're my git-box lessons ... gotta do a plug! ::
  16. I bought the 'Keane' CD. New releases are usually cheap here in Ontario. I paid 10 bucks (7.40 US). My fav (so far) is, "This Is The Last Time."
  17. I'm surprised nobody even mentioned ... well, you figure it out ... think "Pictures of Lily" by the Who if that don't help, here's a gimme ... "Turning Japanese" by the Vapors. ::
  18. Years back, our local 'Blockbuster' store was selling off all their CDs for dirt cheap (they were not going to carry music anymore). I already owned 'Undertow' but never got around for 'Aenima' so here was a good chance. Lucky for me, they still had a couple available. When I went up to the counter to purchase it, the guy (who was actually the manager) picked it up and kept staring, tilting, etc., you know gettin' the full effect. But he had no clue who 'Tool' was. One of the girls that also worked there heard and started to mock him for not knowing the band. Anyway, you're right ... neat CD packaging. However, this is not the site to explain what you see in the inside ... you know, the band on the couch and that contortionist ... :: Ant
  19. My one older brother had their first two releases (self-titled and 'It'll Shine When It Shines') on 8-tracks. Later on, my other brother got "The Car Over the Lake Album" on record. Oh yeah, we definitely loved "Chicken Train." Chicken Train, runnin' all day ... Can't get on, I can't get off ... Baaaaawwwwwk, ba ba baaaawwwkk .... LOL - yeah, we really loved that tune. However, since we had it on 8-track, you had to wait for the tape to loop back again. I now own "Time Warp: The Very Best Of Ozark Mountain Daredevils" on CD which has that tune. Ant
  20. I just remembered - well, it doesn't have to do with the cover but the actual record. I never owned it but an old friend had Styx's "Paradise Theatre." When you held the record to an angle and against the light, you can see see the word 'Styx' and/or 'Paradise Theatre' in the groove.
  21. I couldn't believe this thread got to the second page :: I guess music hasn't been quite the topic of discussion as of late :: We'll fix that :: Yes, 'The Martian Boogie' is by the "Smokin' in the Boy's Room" band, "Brownsville Station." My favourite of BS is "Kings of the Party." This also do great covers of "I'm the Leader of the Gang" and "Barefootin'." As for Black Oak Arkansas, I'd go with "Lord Have Mercy on My Soul." The one you've described is more than likely, "Hot and Nasty." There's a BOA tune that mentions in a line about gettin' high is "When Electricity Came to Arkansas." Okay, I sure love the 70's so here's some choices ... party/rocker songs - Rock and Roll All Nite (KISS) - Shout it Out Loud (KISS) - Bang a Gong (Get it On) - T. Rex - School's Out (Alice Cooper) - We're an American Band (Grand Funk) - All Right Now (Free) - Ballroom Blitz (Sweet) - Never Been Any Reason (Head East) - My Sharona (The Knack) - China Grove (Doobie Brothers) - Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress) - The Hollies serious/radio hit songs - Two out of Three Ain't Bad (Meat Loaf) - Baker Street (Gerry Rafferty) - Year of the Cat (Al Stewart) - Fly at Night (Chilliwack) - Cold as Ice (Foreigner) - It Never Rains in Southern California (Albert Hammond) novelty/fun/sing-a-long songs - Hooked on a Feeling (Blue Swede) - The Night Chicago Died (Paper Lace) - Little Willy (Sweet) - Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffet) - Afternoon Delight (Starland Vocal Band) - Knock Three Times (Tony Orlando & Dawn) pop - Dancing in the Moonlight (King Harvest) - Moonlight Feels Right (Starbuck) - Kiss You All Over (Exile) - Sundown (Gordon Lightfoot) - Undercover Angel (Alan O'Day) - Silly Love Songs (Paul McCartney & Wings) I could go on ... just let me know

  23. Over three years ago, I posted my following story on another site. Soooo... I did a copy & paste; corrected a wee bit of errors, etc. Yes this really happened and it's not made up. You can call me naive all you want :: * * * * * * * * * * Well I might as well let everyone know. I'll never forget how stupid I was, especially that I rarely take medicine even today. When I was about 12 or 13, I decided to sleep over one night at my one brother's place. They ended up having company that brought over their kids my age. And so, we (not the grown-ups) got out this adult board game that you drink alcohol to. To replace booze, we used pop; either Coke or Pepsi. Anyway, we played it for so long that I had a bad case of stomach cramps. And for some dumb, insane reason, I ate 2 tablets of ex-lax because I thought that was the purpose of the medicine (stomach cramps -- TV commercial, at time). The next morning (Saturday), I had to work from 8 am to Noon. Everything was going fine until around 10 am, when I felt this sudden and unexpected urge for the toilet. Well, when I got in there, WHOA!! Ring of fire or what!!! Man, just like a horse taking a leak!! That first bout took about 15 minutes or so. I went back to work (I worked in parts, and had to sort inventory cards that morning so I didn't have to do any hard labour) and not 5 minutes later, back again to the crapper. It got to the point that the toilet paper was like sandpaper!! Plus, I'm still a young teenager and had no idea what was going on. Quitting time was noon and I still was in and out of the crapper. Every time I had to go, I kept thinking, "How do I get back home without cr*pping my pants?" because the urge came every 10 to 15 minutes, and the walk home usually took around 15 minutes. Finally, after my last visit to the toilet (about 12:30), I decided to make a go at walking home. I knew that I couldn't run for it would set it off. And so, I punched out my time-card and headed out. Halfway home, I felt the urge again. "Oh no!" and I knew that if I stopped just once, it was going to come out. I didn't stop to walk across a street for I knew what would happen!! 3/4 of the way home, I had to walk with my knees locked!! Oh man I was in pain, 'cause I really had to go. I had my plan set out --- shortcut through neighbours back yard, enter house through basement door (and hopefully, Mom has the door unlocked) and washroom immediately to the left. Well, I could see my house and a sigh of relief came over me. All I had to do was keep my knees locked, squeeze the butt-cheeks in, and keep the momentum going right up to my house, knowing that if anything got in my way would mean, well, er, you know. I finally made it to the backyard. Yes!! I can see the backdoor, and the toilet is calling out my name. But wait, it wasn't the toilet calling my name; it was our neighbour outside watering his lawn. I heard, "Hey there, how are ya?" or something to that effect. Obviously, I stopped to acknowledge. Sooooo, while I looked at my neighbour it all came out. Frig, and all he said was "Hi", and that sudden stop forced it all out. I walked casually to the backdoor (with a load of diarrhea running down my pant legs, onto my shoes, heck, leaving a trail), trying to act normal in front of my neighbour. To this day, I don't know what happened next ... like, how did I explain this to my Mom, etc. Ant
  24. You're probably thinkin' of no other than Stephen Bishop's "On and On." That tune brings back fond memories of an old best friend (who happens to be a she - we still keep in touch from time to time but not like before ) Check this out to make sure ---> Clicky - um, don't go by the intro but the rest of it is obvious
