  1. Okay, I guess everyone must live in a cave :: I'm still an AM radio lover. We have a few great stations up here in Ontario and one of them is 1050 CHUM (Toronto). You want diversity (50's to 70's), they play it. They also play the normal hits of back in the day. As for this tune, it was nominated for an academy award (the song was featured in "The Sterile Cuckoo" which starred Liza M.). It's a really pretty tune; nice harmonics; acoustic instruments; lyrics are thoughtful too. :guitar:
  2. Gruntruck, Prong, Paw, and Helmet are pretty cool.
  3. I meant to say that I also like the film as well. Yeah, that guy's handle was "Rusty Nails," and you bet it's creepy. I have the dvd of "Joy Ride" with lots of extra features including a whole new 20+ min ending!! Also as an extra, you hear a couple more actors trying out for the part of Rusty's voice. One of them was Eric Roberts. I forget at the moment who the other was. As for 'Duel', always a classic. I saw it as a kid and it was on not that long ago. Dennis Weaver played that part to perfection.
  4. About Speilberg - one of my favourite films was done by him (Saving Private Ryan). And his first major film, "Duel" is still a classic (and thriller). "Joy Ride" IMO, is a rip of "Duel."
  5. I have Tommy Lee's "Never a dull moment" CD and he covers "Fame." Yes, it sounds like your description. :guitar:
  6. "The Godfather" You know, I really like the 3rd installment. It took a few viewings but it grew on me. Gosh, I love the first Matrix. The 2nd and 3rd took a lot of focus OUT of Neo, especially the 3rd. The Indiana Jones' were entertaining (I preferred the 2nd and 3rd one) but I'm not a great fan of Speilberg's overly, lavishly, and profligate type of production. Have no idea what I mean?? Take 'South Park' and change the overal appearance to 'Disney' cartoons. See?? :: Ant
  7. A song in my 'most loathed tunes' list... "Wake me up before you go-go" No wonder women make fun of men. And you know what?? I don't blame them!! Ant
  8. "Come Saturday Morning" by The Sandpipers. I've always loved this tune. Brief info about the group... They were originally called "The Four Seasons" but found out another band was using it so they renamed themselves, "The Grads." A friend of the group introduced them to Herb Alpert (trumpet player fame) who ran his own label (A&M) and so impressed, he signed them to a record deal. They released singles under "The Grads" then later changed their name to "The Sandpipers." There first big hit was "Guantanamera." Although they had a few minor hits here and there, their next big hit was "Come Saturday Morning" for the film, "The Sterile Cuckoo." Interesting fact - the band had a female member but was never credited on albums and usually shrouded in performances. She supplied vocals but wordless. As someone else explains, "Her vocals never acted as harmonies to the group's singing; they functioned in a supporting role, much like the strings that comprised the band's instrumental backing. Come Saturday morning, I'm going away with my friend. We'll Saturday spend to the end of the day just I and my friend! We'll travel for miles in our Saturday smiles, and then we'll move on... but we will remember, long after Saturday's gone. Come Saturday morning, I'm going away with my friend. We'll Saturday laugh more than half of the day just I and my friend, dressed up in our rings, and our Saturday things, and then we'll move on, but we will remember, long after Saturday's gone... 9. The same for Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die"... But in this ever changing world in which we live in Yep, annoying. Another one for different context - object meaning... Warrant's "Heaven" I used to mention this one a lot... Got a picture of your house And your standing by the door It's black and white and faded And it's looking pretty worn. Since it's obvious he's talkin' about the 'picture' as being 'pretty worn' but re-read it again.
  10. You know when peeps reply with something along the lines... "I know someone close to me that went through drugs and believe me, it's no easy task... blah, blah, blah..." and they tell it like they have a doctorate in that field?? They more than likely do have a plaque but it's up in an outhouse wall with the quote, "I LOVE the smell of an outhouse" or something like that ::. I am not the former nor the latter. I do know someone very close that's hooked on drugs and believe me, helping them strains a lot out of you. A person hooked on drugs is in the same frame of mind as someone who's ego-tripping... can't get through to them. Of course, once they come down and lean off the drugs they become more alert to the surroundings AND wonder of the wheres and whys... where is my friends? why did they leave me? etc. I wasn't there and I have no idea what happened with G'n'R but all those guys were close friends at one time and I'm sure they just didn't leave him out to dry just like that. You can bet that they've tried... and tried... Ant
  11. Paul McCartney Les Claypool John Deacon Monty Colvin John Entwistle
  12. Shredding gets awfully monotonous. A good guitarist adds diversity. A note to peeps who don't play guitar - if you listen to a shredder, they use massive amounts of distortion and lots of other effects so that it covers a lot of fluffs/mistakes. The best shredders can emulate on an acoustic without any preamplification.
  13. That song annoys me period, especially in the chorus when he sings one (or) two extra words in a line or two. Only really great singers/musicians can get away with it and make it sound worthy but not Bono. Nothing personal Bono, just my opinion.
  14. Of course, Led Zep 'I'. Although 'IV' is a good album, it's highly overrated.
  15. Say Carl, I wonder if the comeback had anything to do with this ---> 867-5309/Jenny (from my 'Intromania' guitar lesson Okay, I just wanted to brag about taking the credit :: but the lesson has over 400,000 hits (it's all intros, 20 of them). I LOVE that intro. Say Carl, don't mention it to him about that intro... you know music publishers... but it's a free site and I make no money at all but it does make you wonder IF any intros from that lesson actually made someone buy the album. With that in mind, I hope TT sold some extra albums. :guitar:
  16. I don't know about the underwear but they were topless. If you have the album (like myself), you'll see lots of boobies. Mind you, not the best selection to view ::
  17. I'm a bit puzzled here for you started this paragraph with "These are my opinions..." and explain how radio dictates our listening habits with bands you loathe then end your statement with, "The best bands are usually not on the radio and thats a fact." Using "...and that's a fact" is a fairly strong statement and not an opinion. What is the facts?
  18. Call me crazy but I can still watch David Cronenberg's "Crash." It was on a movie channel years ago and caught my interest. 'Showcase' have shown it a couple or more times and again, I've watched it. I can't really say I like the film but I do admire it.
  19. What is your favorite word? - diarrhea What is your least favorite word? - buddy What turns you on? - most of my ex-g/fs (I'm not mentioning how many ) What turns you off? - Ron Jeremy What is the sound or noise that you love? - my kids What sound or noise do you hate? - someone with a clogged up nose so they have to breathe through their mouth which usually happens while I'm eating What is your favorite curse word? - way too many. The current one I'm using is, "I'll f*&% you up!!"
  20. We used to play this other type of game which isn't overly hard. You use a minimum '3' tunes with no spaces. Okay, just take a look so I don't confuse ya... Aintevendonewiththenightbeforethenextteardropfalls Now, break it and ... Aintevendonewiththenight beforethenextteardropfalls Aintevendonewith thenightbefore thenextteardropfalls Aintevendonewiththenight beforethenextteardropfalls You see, one or two words will overlap each other. We also made it that you had to guess the band/singer. In this case... John Mellencamp The Beatles Freddy Fender Cool huh??
  21. LOL!! You funny My reply was short and sweet where I mentioned that it was a good read. I enjoyed it. I don't see why my original reply is gone. I hope I don't start being suspicious. ::
  22. I replied to this earlier in the day. I even reviewed it after it was posted. Did someone delete it? ::
  23. Works fine for me. Like your 'animal map'.
  24. Just random guesses here... More - Pink Floyd did the soundtrack. La Vallee - again, Pink Floyd (Obscured By Clouds album).
  25. Here's my suggestion - At another music site, they keep a 'pinned' thread at the top of one of the forums with a link to a 'chat room'. I'm pretty sure one of Mindcrime's replies mentions that he moderates a large chat room. Since he has the experience and the know-hows of a chat room, you really can't go wrong there. And another thing, he seems to be a pretty cool guy here. I can't see any harm and technically if things get out of hand, 'Songfacts' can't be held accountable since the chat room is on another domain. That's my two cents. :: Ant
