  1. What is this BOO-JEE WOO-JEE music?
  2. There is a minor common link in these songs that just occurred to me: "Don't they know it's the end of the world" "Don't you step on my blue suede shoes" "Don't make me over, now that I'd do anything for you" The word "Don't" is prominent in the lyrics of each of the songs. That observation, however, is not the common hallmark I'm asking for. Link on, comrades.
  3. I Love To See You Smile from Parenthood - Music and Lyric by Randy Newman Oscar nomination in for Original Song, Grammy nomination, Golden Globe nomination.
  4. Nope. The common link has to do with the listeners more than the singers.
  5. Not what I had in mind. The End ... was definitely not Skeeter's first hit.
  6. That link was answered in O550MKQ a good while back. Try this new one. [*] The End Of The World by Skeeter Davis [*] Blue Suede Shoes by Carl Perkins [*] Don't Make Me Over by Dionne Warwick
  7. from wikipedia from stylusmagazine.com from rockopera.com
  8. Increase Your Word Power pas·qui·nade n. A satire or lampoon, especially one that ridicules a specific person, traditionally written and posted in a public place. tr.v. pas·qui·nad·ed, pas·qui·nad·ing, pas·qui·nades To ridicule with a pasquinade; satirize or lampoon. [French, from Italian pasquinata, after Pasquino, nickname given to a statue in Rome, Italy, on which lampoons were posted.]
  9. Ask anyone, bazooka is a vehement Bo Diddley zealot. Here's my answer to the musical question from another thread
  10. Them are fightin' words, Brad. Maybe it takes a recent graduate (or dropout) to know one. Too young to recognize Steve McQueen in Wanted: Dead Or Alive? The coldest cowboy on black & white TV. And you haven't been around long enough to know that Bo Diddley was the unquestioned ultimate victor in Picture Wars, Part I (They had to keep throwing atomic bombs and sporks at him). The Terminator didn't make past the third post. Here's Bo Diddley (500% More Man) in his own words: " Oh can't you see, Oh you misjudge me, I look like a farmer, But I'm a lover, You can't judge a book by looking at the cover." " When Bo Diddley come to town, The streets get empty and the sun go down" " I walk 47 miles of barbed wire, I use a cobra-snake for a necktie, I got a brand new house on the roadside, Made from rattlesnake hide, I got a brand new chimney made on top, Made out of a human skull ... Tombstone hand and a graveyard mine, Just 22 and I don't mind dying."
  11. Where can I go to get my poodle clipped in Burbank? At Ralph?s Vegetarian Poodle Clipping Where can I go to get organic Vaseline? At Bob and Ray?s Swahili Restaurant, where you can come this close..... Where can I go to get my jeans embroidered in Fullerton? At Jeans North ?where Nothing fits? Where can I go to get my zipper repaired in Hollywood? Who gives a f--k anyway Where can I go to get my speakers fixed? Where can I go to get my exit lights? At Jack LaLanne Hamburgers, 312 Whittier Boulevard. Where can I go to get my stomach pumped? ~ Frank Zappa & The Mothers, Call Any Vegetable
  12. To Love Somebody To Love The Bee Gees + Jefferson Airplane
  13. I'll adopt Respect and Good Vibrations. People always seem to want to sing along with these songs. (I tried Googling 'read Old 55's mind', but the results were next to nothing.)
  14. The Band - Greatest Hits "Hits" is something of a misnomer, due to the dismal lack of radio airplay for The Band, but this CD includes some of the best songs in their repertoire. Music by The Band was always a staple in my friends' collections. I will probably buy this CD myself, because I no longer have the two albums (Stage Fright and Cahoots) that used to be part of my vinyl library. I would be hard pressed to name "artists similar to" The Band. They are pretty much one of a kind. This is an excellent compilation for both the uninitiated and those who would like to refresh their memories.
  15. Point well taken, earth-angel. I apologize for jumping the gun without having your verification in an earlier post. I was so damned sure I had the answer, and you were so damned gracious about letting my rudeness slide.
  16. edna has a couple good ones, so let's award her the victory. Since I don't suppose you can search Google for 'read bazooka's mind', here's the scoop: According to these old-time trading cards, those are the individual Beatles alleged favorite colors. (note: the card numbers are in order of the traditional Beatles hierachy listing: John, Paul, George, Ringo)
  17. Incredible connections, edna! But not what I have in mind. It involves a certain fabulous musical phenomenon, bigger than Eminem or Jimi. You might have to have been a screaming fan to work it out. Do you want to know a secret? Pay attention to the customary pecking order.
  18. I'd pay to hear those unreleased recordings. To Be Alone With You is such a cool song, and perfect for Jerry Lee. Just to nitpick, Seven Days was on Ron Wood's Gimme Some Neck but that wasn't the first of his solo albums. OK detectives, here's the next case [*] green [*] blue [*] purple [*] red (Yes, Karhul. They are all colors, but that's not the deal. The colors were connected with individual parts of a big, big thing.)
