  1. Hello Soul Girl, I can help with a couple of bits and pieces:

    13. London Zoo is in Regent's Park

Layton/Leighton??? is probably Leyton, a borough in London

    Huxton could possibly be Hoxton

    Hoburn is written Holborn

Petit France is a street in London

    Heston is near London Airport

    Edgeware Road is spelled Edgware

    Eisworth is probably Isleworth

St Pankerstown Hall is probably St. Pancras Town Hall

St. John's Wood, Brook Green, Hammersmith and Bayswater are all areas of London.

    17. Clement Attlee was Prime Minister from 1945 - 1951.

Sir Stafford Cripps was a member of Attlee's government, initially as President of the Board of Trade, and then as Minister of Economic Affairs and Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Parkhurst Prison is indeed on the Isle of Wight.

Home Secretary is an important position in the British Government.

    21. The first television broadcasts were made from Alexandra Palace in 1936.

    Hope that helps..........Mel :)

  2. How about this Elvis Presley movie song. Not the greatest song ever written, but it fits in nicely with what you are working on.

    CONFIDENCE

Written by Sid Tepper & Roy C. Bennett]

When everyone thought the world was flat

    Columbus said "It's round"

    He went down in history

    And America was found

    'Cos

    He had confidence

    A little thing called confidence

There's no job too immense when you've got

    Confidence

    With a "C" and an "O" and an "N" and an "F"

And an "I" and a "D" and an "ENCE"

Put 'em all together and what have you got

    Confidence

You'll be surprised what you can do

    If you will only try

Remember the tortoise and the hare

    Who had that famous race

The speedy hare wound up nowhere

And slow poke took first place

    'Cos

    He had confidence

    A little thing called confidence

There's no job too immense when you've got

    Confidence

You'll be surprised what you can do

    If you will only try

How do you know that you can't ride a rainbow in the sky

You'll be surprised what you can do

    If you will only try

    All you need is confidence

    A little thing called confidence

There's no job too immense when you've got

    Confidence

    With a "C" and an "O" and an "N" and an "F"

And an "I" and a "D" and an "ENCE"

Put 'em all together and what have you got

    Confidence

    Confi ..... Confi .... Confidence

  3. THE RUNNER

    Manfred Mann's Earth Band

Through the night, through the dawn

Behind you another runner is born

Don't look back you've been there

Feel the mist as your breath hits the air

    And it's underneath the moonlight

    Passing some

Still your heart beats in the moonlight

    Like a drum

Through the night, through the dawn

Behind you another runner is born

Don't look back, you've been there

Feel the mist as your breath hits the air

    And it's underneath the moonlight

    Passing some

Still your heart beats in the moonlight

    Like a drum

And you will run your time

A shooting star across the sky

And you will surely cross the line

    To pass on the flame

Sun come up, sun go down

Hear the feet see the sweat on the ground

Watch your step, keep your cool

Though you can't see what's in front of you

    And it's underneath the moonlight

    Passing some

Still your heart beats in the moonlight

    Like a drum

And you will run your time

A shooting star across the sky

And you will surely cross the line

    To pass on the flame

    Pass on the flame

Through the night, through the dawn

Behind you another runner is born

Don't look back, you've been there

See the mist as your breath hits the air

    And it's underneath the moonlight

    Passing some

Still your heart beats in the moonlight

    Like a drum

  4. Yes, it's called "SLOW POKE".

    SLOW POKE

Written by Pee Wee King, Redd Stewart & Chilton Price

Pee Wee King & His Golden West Cowboys - 1951

Ralph Flanagan & His Orch. (vocals: The Singing Winds) - 1951

    Helen O'Connell - 1951

    Arthur Godfrey - 1951

    Roberta Lee - 1951

The Ray Conniff Singers - 1964

YOU KEEP ME WAITIN? TILL IT?S GETTIN? AGGRAVATIN?,

    YOU?RE A SLOW POKE,

I WAIT N? WORRY BUT YOU NEVER SEEM TO HURRY,

    YOU?RE A SLOW POKE,

TIME MEANS NOTHIN? TO YOU, I WAIT AND THEN,

    LATE AGAIN,

    EIGHT O?CLOCK, NINE O?CLOCK,

    QUARTER TO TEN,

WHY SHOULD I LINGER EV?RY TIME YOU SNAP YOUR FINGER,

    LITTLE SLOW POKE,

WHY CAN?T YOU HASTEN WHEN YOU SEE THE TIME?S A-WASTIN?,

    YOU?RE A SLOW POKE, DEAR,

WHY SHOULD I KEEP TRYIN? TO CHANGE YOU,

IT?S NOT THE THING TO DO,

I GUESS I?LL HAVE TO LEARN

TO BE A SLOW POKE TOO!

YOU KEEP ME WAITIN? TILL IT?S GETTIN? AGGRAVATIN?,

    YOU?RE A SLOW POKE,

I WAIT N? WORRY BUT YOU NEVER SEEM TO HURRY,

    YOU?RE A SLOW POKE,

    SLOW POKE.

    Cheers..........Mel

  5. If you want to see a prime example of good film-making, with a tight storyline, good acting, camerawork, editing, direction, and not a wasted second from start to finish......then look no further than Kubrick's "THE KILLING".

  6. I'll have to disagree with Bazooka's use of the word "cover" when describing "You Ain't Going Nowhere" by The Byrds.

As I understand it, the word "cover" implies that somebody else had previously issued a commercial recording of the same song, which, in this case, Dylan had not.

The Byrds simply recorded, and had a hit with, a song written by Dylan. This does not make it a "cover". If it does, then 90% of all records issued must be covers.

  7. How about "Step Out" by Oasis:

    What she said

    She said to me

Take me high on a mountain side

She was dressed up in leopard skin

And her soul would never be denied

I met her down the disco in a beat up car

She was burning down the road

She looked just like a star in a Jaguar

She needs to lighten her load

    And when you might

    Think you're gonna cry

    It will be all right

    Step out tonight

    You might

    Think you're gonna cry

    It will be all right

    Step out tonight

    What I said

    I said to her

I'm alive when you walk that way

Can you hear what I can hear?

It's the sound of a brand new day

She met me down a disco in a beat up car

I was burning down the road

I can be a star in a Jaguar

I need to lighten my load

Because you might think you're gonna cry

    It will be all right

    Step out tonight

    You might

    Think you're gonna cry

    It will be all right

    Step out tonight

Well my whole life been sinking in the water

I need a ship not your sweet lip tonight

    You might

    Think you're gonna cry

    It will be all right

    Step out tonight

    You might

    Think you're gonna cry

    It will be all right

    Step out tonight

    You might

    Think you're gonna cry

    It will be all right

    Step out tonight

    You might

    Think you're gonna cry

    It will be all right

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Step out tonight

    Tonight

    Tonight

    Tonight

    Tonight

    Tonight

    Tonight

  8. Eddy Arnold had five on the trot from November 1st 1947 through to November 12th 1948 (on what was then called the Billboard Jukebox Chart) with:

"I'll Hold You In My Heart (Till I Can Hold You In My Arms)"

    "Anytime"

    "Bouquet Of Roses"

    "Texarkana Baby"

"Just A Little Lovin' (Will Go A Long, KLong Way)"

He did it again in 1949 with two consecutive No.1s:

    "One Kiss Too Many"

"I'm Throwing Rice (At The Girl I Love)"

Hank Williams did it in 1953 with:

    "Kaw-Liga"

    "Your Cheatin' Heart"

In 1956 it was Elvis Presley's turn with:

"I Forgot To Remember To Forget"

    "Heartbreak Hotel"

In 1964 Buck Owens did it:

    "My Heart Skips A Beat"

    "Together Again"

It didn't happen again until 1982, when Willie Nelson did it with:

    "Always On My Mind"

"Just To Satisfy You" (with Waylon Jennings)

Can't find any instances of it happening since then.

I suppose Elvis must be the only person to have done it on both the "Country" and the "Pop" charts.
