Is it by a female singer? There's an Alanis Morissette song with that title. It's not new though, it's from her 1995 album Jagged Little Pill. Standing there on a road that leads to anywhere Like a child left in the wilderness, standing there penniless Wanting to be the best Here's a place where life runs at a different pace Where love is just convenient, none are obedient And we are subservient Look at me, I'm a girl that some may preconceive Why do they try and generalize, why are they antagonizing me But something I can't control that... Chorus: I WANTCHA You know I'll never stop 'til I've GOTCHA You'll never be quite the same when I ROCK YA I'm not the kind of girl that you thought I was You'll have a good time 'cause I WANTCHA I'm breaking down the walls 'till I have you, feel you Show you the time of your life Here we are and I wonder how we've come this far In a world that does not recognize women are victimized What does that symbolize Why do I want the things I usually criticize It may be self destructiveness, or maybe it's emptiness inside But something I can't control that... Repeat Chorus You'll have a good time... It's a lonely road, and no one knows the way that I feel I'm not giving up now... I'll never try to justify They'll never understand, you'll be a happy man You'll have the time of your life It's something, it's something, it's something that I can't control The time of your life...

Troubadours were artists as in Poets / Songwriters who originated in Spain & Southern France during the early renaissance era. They faced tribulations while traveling the world, but any information found relating to their demise is irrelevant. It?s possible that Jagger was liberally using this term in a metaphor approach, as a reference to modern-day singers, which still doesn't explain any theory of Satanism.

I read this wrong when I was looking at it yesterday, I thought it was referring to the original album covers that were rejected, this is an artist's tribute to their favorite bands & what cover they would've created. The Jimi Hendrix selection is IMHO the only conceptual artwork that would?ve been well placed as an album cover, as well as the flowing controversy from of the Doors pick. The rest look like ?Flop work?, although I like the quality on the Tom Petty choice, it still doesn?t appear to correspond with his brilliant work.

I enjoyed that movie, but not so much for the plot or acting. I was more captivated by the special effects used. The earthquake scientist was pretty obvious at determining there was a problem in the area, and the actors (other than Bacon?s performance) were tedious & didn?t act horrified enough IMO. They seemed to focus more on taking matters into their own hands than they were concerned about the dilemma.

Rafferty played the acoustic guitar parts on the album "City to City", as well as singing, piano, & producing. Hugh Burns played the Electric Guitar, so I'm guessing it was him. There's a few others credited with for providing guitar on the album as well, including Jerry Donahue.

Gene Frenkle - Will Ferrell did a skit of behind the music posing as him on SNL.

Some references state that it was mentioning the Beatles on their Magical Mystery tour, when they toured India & never made it that far. Other theories indicate it?s about a group of 11th century artists who traveled the world, & established controversy by the people of India. For more information Sympathy for the Devil explanation

I can see why the Led Zeppelin #2 didn't make it, a nice concept for the album however. I like the one for The Doors though, especially the back cover.

I don?t believe his wife had much to do with it, unless it was a matrimonial crisis. I mostly blame it on a bad heroin dose, he probably started to become frenetic & turned to a state of panic. Under dreadful sanity, pulled the trigger to end his trip.

It appears to be a foreign song (maybe?) the song title is Slow Poke, but nothing could be found on the singer.

HELP with WHO IS THIS BAND from the '80s?
MindCrime replied to meryl23333's topic in Questions and Answers
At first, I was thinking maybe it was INXS, based on the look of the lead singer, the Sax, & 1987 being the year taken. Then I realized the lead singer doesn't play guitar & the other band mates don't look the same. This band appears to be a form of possibly Country-Rock with a Sax Player. --edit--- another guess is maybe Night Ranger, but I don't think they had a Sax player. -
Based on the music you've already listed, maybe throw in some Allman Brothers, Steppenwolf, Bread, ZZ Top, Yes, Steve Miller Band, Steely Dan, Bob Segar, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Peter Frampton & Free, just to name a few. To add a variety, maybe some Queen, T-Rex, Todd Rundgren & Sweet.

I'm not sure if they are the same song, the last track on Above is called All Alone, this song is just called Alone & is a under 4 minute acoustic version by Pearl Jam & Alice in Chains.

Yeah, but is that one of the best or worst LOL I liked them, or a few of their songs, mostly off the debut album, I didn't care much for Pat Smear though, he didn't belong in Nirvana IMO
-
I meant it as Solo or Projects(side bands) so yeah it would count, I could list about 20 different artists (of different genres) that went on to their own that were either good or bad.

1.) Jim Morrison 2.) Jimi Hendrix 3.) Bob Marley 4.) Frank Zappa 5.) Layne Staley 1.) Robert Plant 2.) David Gilmour 3.) Jimmy Page 4.) Slash 5.) Trent Reznor

Can you recognize a band by a note, or a voice?
MindCrime replied to GeeterMcgee's topic in Music Discussion
Just about any band I've listened to enough of I can recognize on the first instance, but I usually know most of their songs as it is. One band I can't tell when I hear them is Jet. They're intros copy just about anything else that was previously written, I like the idea they have behind their style, but it's a blatant rip-off IMO. -
Your youth is important, & something to be pleased with LOL You listed most of the good bands from back in the 70's, there's a few other's that are equally as good, such as Rush, Steppenwolf, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, etc. A good place to listen to music is Launch.com where you can select what bands you like & they play them in a radio station format for you. The connection can be a problem, if it starts going through buffering mode to download the song, but it's worth a listen.

What singers from good bands, that have gone on to their own solo careers did you like & dislike? I liked Ozzy after Black Sabbath, even though he wasn't as good. His solo career mostly focused on controversy outside of the music scene, then wounded up being displayed for commercial use of a reality TV show. I heard more talent coming from his guitarists than I did his mouth, even though he has that dark voice that gives the music it's depth. Robert Plant went on to his own singing during the 80?s, which was nowhere near the innovative fusion that Zeppelin had created. He had a lot of good songs, such as Tall Cool One, Big Log, & Ship of Fools (a strong ballad) but also a lot of dubious content like the Picture at Eleven album, which showcased him as a completely different singer. Some songs like Worse than Detroit has some nice Guitar work, & Burning Down One Side, which seems to be about him trying to track down his lost love. The album was sufficiently good, but not really his style.

Was Barenaked Ladies' "For You" in a movie?
MindCrime replied to Sara's topic in Questions and Answers
That was the name of their latest release, I checked into it & BarenakedLadies hasn't appeared on a movie soundtrack since 1999. ---edit--- I misunderstood, You were asking for movie appearances, not soundtracks, sorry about that -
Well I meant Rock song that made it on the Pop Charts, there's a Mainstream Rock chart as well, but finding info about that is hard, even on the net. For the Iron Butterfly album, it peaked at #4 on the Pop Albums charts in 1969, but I don't know how long it stayed for.

Was Barenaked Ladies' "For You" in a movie?
MindCrime replied to Sara's topic in Questions and Answers
It looks like it only appeared on the 2003 release "Everything to Everyone" but I could be wrong about that :: -
We have one Classic Rock station, one Hard Rock Station (70's through today), & one Current Rock station. The classic rock station, mostly specifies in playing Fleetwood Mac, Stones, & The Who along with occasional Zeppelin and Floyd (mostly the 5 main tracks from the wall) Anymore I find the Hard Rock station better than the Classic Rock station. Music has always sounded better to me while driving & usually I listen to CD's at home & the radio in the car.

That's really in love with a song LOL I've heard a lot of songs that were typical 3 minute tracks, that I wouldn't have minded being about 10 times longer & I'd still listen all the way through. There's a lot of Jimi Hendrix songs that would be nice with a longer jam session. There's also a lot of Bob Marley that I could listen to for hours on end.

The answer was Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine, it's the only hard rock song that hit #1 on the Pop Charts in 1988. If anybody has any trivia questions, preferably not able to be researched over the net... I'd like to try & guess.
