  1. The life and story of Brian Epstein will be brought to the big screen in the new movie, The Fifth Beatle. Producer and former American Idol judge Simon Cowell‘s Syco Entertainment and IM Global are set to co-produce the feature film, which will shine a spotlight on the life of the late Beatles manager. Epstein died of a drug overdose in August, 1967, at age 32. The movie’s screenplay is based on an adaptation of the graphic novel written by Vivek Tiwary, which tells the story of how Epstein discovered the Beatles in a cellar in Liverpool and turned them into superstars. Variety reports producers Tiwary and Cowell, and IM Global founder and CEO Stuart Ford, have already secured a deal with Sony/ATV Publishing for the use of Beatles music in the film. “I have always been fascinated by Brian Epstein — and his story,” Cowell said in a statement. “He played a huge role in the Beatles’ incredible success -– and, I believe, remains the most talented manager ever. Yet his story has never been fully told. Also, like everyone across the world, I have so much respect for the Beatles and their music. So to be given the chance to be involved in this project was one I just could not pass up.” Article credit: ABC Radio
  2. Welcome to the... #409 ALL MEMBERS OF SONGFACTS ARE MOST WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE. The greater the participation, the more diverse, and more representative our top ten list is. We'd like to invite everyone to help us select THE SONGFACTORS' CHOICE TOP TEN! IT'S SIMPLE, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS: * Nominate up to three songs that haven't made the Top Ten before ... Both lists are pinned topics in this forum. * When nominations close, choose your favorite Ten songs in order of preference from the Final Nominations and post them here. Points are allotted; 10 for your #1 song, 9 for #2, Etc. and our Top Ten is compiled from them. At the end of the voting period we'll announce The Songfactors' Choice Top Ten for that week.

  4. I don't know what happened. Kenne just disappeared into thin air. He's the only one that nominated but hasn't voted yet. I tried sending him a PM here, but when I send the message, it says he can't receive messages. That's odd. I then sent him a message through his email about 10 days ago, but I haven't received a reply. I guess I'll just close out TT #408 later this evening and start a new one. Hopefully we get enough participation for it, hardly anybody's been posting or playing any of the games lately.

  7. Granted... To make things good for you, Carl goes back to using the old message board and server that he used when he first started Songfacts. This cause everyone else on Songfacts to have problems, because we all have good browsers which aren't compatible with the old Songfacts system. This causes so much frustration for everyone wanting to play games, that they all stop playing, leaving Rayzor to play Songfacts games all by himself. I wish I had a shorter answer for that last wish, my fingers are tired.

  9. U2‘s massive iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour kicked off last night in Vancouver, British Columbia. The tour will hit 20 cities, with at least two shows in each location. The North American leg will wrap up with an eight-night stand at New York City’s Madison Square Garden that runs from July 18 through July 31. The Irish rockers then will launch a European leg in Turin, Italy, beginning September 4 and concluding with four shows in Paris on November 10, 11, 14 and 15. iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE will be U2’s first indoor arena tour in a decade, and the band has concocted a special stage setup for the occasion. As the group revealed to The New York Times, there will be three stages: a large, rectangular stage that will light up as a capital I for “Innocence,” a smaller round stage that will become a lower-case “e” for “experience,” and a large walkway in between. Each show will feature two sets, divided by — for the first time on a U2 tour — an intermission. The first set will be fixed for the most part, while the second set will be much more varied from night to night. The tour will not feature an opening band. The iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE trek also will mark Bono‘s return to the stage after he injured himself in a cycling accident this past November. He says that he is still unable to play guitar, though he jokes that his band mates “don’t seem to mind.” Here are all of U2’s iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour dates: 5/14 — Vancouver, BC, Canada, Rogers Arena 5/15 — Vancouver, BC, Canada, Rogers Arena 5/18 — San Jose, CA, SAP Center at San Jose 5/19 — San Jose, CA, SAP Center at San Jose 5/22 — Phoenix, AZ, US Airways Center 5/23 — Phoenix, AZ, US Airways Center 5/26 — Inglewood, CA, The Forum 5/27 — Inglewood, CA, The Forum 5/30 — Inglewood, CA, The Forum 5/31 — Inglewood, CA, The Forum 6/3 — Inglewood, CA, The Forum 6/6 — Denver, CO, Pepsi Center 6/7 — Denver, CO, Pepsi Center 6/12 — Montreal, QC, Canada, Bell Centre 6/13 — Montreal, QC, Canada, Bell Centre 6/16 — Montreal, QC, Canada, Bell Centre 6/17 — Montreal, QC, Canada, Bell Centre 6/24 — Chicago, IL, United Center 6/25 — Chicago, IL, United Center 6/28 — Chicago, IL, United Center 6/29 — Chicago, IL, United Center 7/2 — Chicago, IL, United Center 7/6 — Toronto, ON, Canada, Air Canada Centre 7/7 — Toronto, ON, Canada, Air Canada Centre 7/10 — Boston, MA,TD Garden 7/11 — Boston, MA, TD Garden 7/14 — Boston, MA, TD Garden 7/15 — Boston, MA, TD Garden 7/18 — New York, NY, Madison Square Garden 7/19 — New York, NY, Madison Square Garden 7/22 — New York, NY, Madison Square Garden 7/23 — New York, NY, Madison Square Garden 7/26 — New York, NY, Madison Square Garden 7/27 — New York, NY, Madison Square Garden 7/30 — New York, NY, Madison Square Garden 7/31 — New York, NY, Madison Square Garden 9/4 — Turin, Italy, Pala Alpitour 9/5 — Turin, Italy, Pala Alpitour 9/8 — Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Ziggo Dome 9/9 — Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Ziggo Dome 9/12 — Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Ziggo Dome 9/13 — Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Ziggo Dome 9/16– Stockholm, Sweden, Globe 9/17 — Stockholm, Sweden, Globe 9/20 — Stockholm, Sweden, Globe 9/21 — Stockholm, Sweden, Globe 9/24 — Berlin, Germany, O2 World 9/28 — Berlin, Germany, O2 World 9/29 — Berlin, Germany, O2 World 9/25 — Berlin, Germany, O2 World 10/5 — Barcelona, Spain, Palau Sant Jordi 10/6 — Barcelona, Spain, Palau Sant Jordi 10/9 — Barcelona, Spain, Palau Sant Jordi 10/10 — Barcelona, Spain, Palau Sant Jordi 10/13 — Antwerp, Belgium, Sportpaleis 10/14 — Antwerp, Belgium, Sportpaleis 10/17 — Koln, Germany, Lanxess Arena 10/18 — Koln, Germany, Lanxess Arena 10/25 — London, UK, O2 10/26 — London, UK, O2 10/29 — London, UK, O2 10/30 — London, UK, O2 11/2 — London, UK, O2 11/3 — London, UK, O2 11/6 — Glasgow, UK, The SSE Hydro 11/7 — Glasgow, UK, The SSE Hydro 11/10 — Paris, France, Bercy 11/11 — Paris, France, Bercy 11/14 — Paris, France, Bercy 11/15 — Paris, France, Bercy Article credit: ABC Radio
