"The Capo Song" is the best capo song, hate to break it to ya! (oh, noone's ever heard of the capo song? silly me! NATE!)
there's a really nice version of "In Your Eyes" that was covered acoustically by Jeffery Gaines, and you can find the tabs here, but i warn you, they aren't the easiest to pick up, because there's alot of syncopated rhythm. i also suggest listening to the song if you can find it. i was at a party where someone played it, and nearly everyone started singing along.

Two shows I wish were still on the air are Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Mystery Science Theater 3000. SGCtC was the talkshow cartoon where they'd just rip on the guests. MST2K played old, terribly bad movies while a guy and his two robot friends would add cynical commentary and funny one-liners.
Space Ghost Coast to Coast...i almost forgot about that show altogether. glad you refreshed my memory!
Mystery Science Theatre 3000 was pure genius. i have most of the DVD collection.

no, he's only out 'til friday. then they have the funeral.
after that comes a nine day mourning period, and then they start the conclave of cardinals to choose the new pope.
my guess is they're burying him in the Vatican, under the Basilica, along with all the other pontiffs. i think it'd be nice if they buried him in Krakow, though. after all, it's his native land.
Paul, was anyone around where you live upset? because around here, it seemed like i was the only one remotely shaken. everyone else just sort of carried on as usual. maybe it's just me...

ATC, don't let these discussions go by the wayside. i like them, and even if i don't really have an opinion on the song, i like reading what other people have to say about it. Keep "plugging".

I've always found this song to be insanely addictive. It's one of those songs that i listen to once, and then play back again and again and again...
"I'm gonna buy me a ticket now
As far as I can
Ain't never comin' back
Ride me a Southbound
All the way to Georgia now
'till the train run out of track"
my favorite line of the song. ditto to ATC's comments. awesome song!

X-Files. case closed.
it's just one of those shows that goes one of two ways: you watch it religiously and you're extremely into it, or you've seen it maybe once or twice in your life and don't care much for it. for the most part, that is. i'm sure there are some exceptions.
hell, X-Files practically has an actual cult. we've even adopted and invented our own vocabulary: Phile, Shipper, Dripper, Noromo, etc...
Can't get enough of that X-Files!

no need for apologies! pleased to meet ya, Paul. i'm Maria.

You would be correct. It was originally a Bryan Adams song.

Ah, i know, my poor Pope. I love him to death, and i hope he recovers.
As far as you can tell you're the only practicing Catholic? and what kind of an assumption is that? all in jest, all in jest. but i am a practicing Catholic, so watch out before you jump to conclusions.

And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive
And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
It describes the way i feel and I'm feeling how you're feeling right now. That made no sense but whatever.
THAT'S MY FAVORITE SONG!
and it made perfect sense!

Same with going super fast on a country highway. Only opposite. I can drive superfast and feel fine. Anyone else and I freak.
my mom is like that. i can remember being in grammar school, when my mom had to drive me (i went to Catholic school, we had no bus). and she would drive 75 mph over this backwoods road with curves so sharp that you had to brace yourself against the seat if you didn't want to fly out the door. however, i drive 70 on the highway, and she complains that i'm going too fast.

And a fear of being alone.
same here. i hate to be alone and if i am left somewhere alone, i'll call someone on the phone and talk to them. oft times i feel alone in a crowded room...does anyone else get that?
i also have this fear of taking a bath or a shower with the front door unlocked.

Arachnophobia...that's my biggie...
Soteriophobia - dependence on others. (which is somewhat ironic because i always have one person in my life that i am far too dependent on.)
Daemonophobia - demons
the last two aren't really phobias to the extent of my arachnophobia.

I'm 100% Polish!
i'm extremely proud of my heritage. My mom is all Polish (both her parents were from Poland, though she was born in the US) and my dad immigrated from Poland when he was 25 or 28, i'm not sure. most of my relatives still live in Poland, and i speak Polish fairly fluently. it used to be my first language.
it's the pure-breds you need to watch out for...

This song always meant alot to me. Partly because i can relate to the song so eerily well, and partly because my name is Maria. (I've always loved my name, sheerly because it's been used in so many songs.)
I live in a small town. A VERY small town. But i used to live in Boston with my older sister when i was very young. I moved back in with my parents, back to small town America, when i was about 4, because my sister moved up to NH for a job opportunity. The "'round here" in the first part of the song makes me think of the small town i live in, and the surrounding area, which is also composed of small towns. the line "'Round here, we always stand up straight" makes me think of how when i was growing up, my family and most of my school used to get upset with me, because everyone knew everyone, and we were expected to act a certain way, but i never did, never could. people still expect me to act a certain way, and live a certain way. and i still can't.
"She says, "It's only in my head."
She says, "Shhh...I know it's only in my head."
But the girl on the car in the parking lot
Says: "Man, you should try to take a shot
Can't you see my walls are crumbling?"
Then she looks up at the building
And says she's thinking of jumping.
She says she's tired of life;
She must be tired of something."
i've been diagnosed with chronic depression for the past 2 1/2 years, but i've had it for about 7 years. this part of the song sort of epitomizes the breakdown i had right before i was diagnosed.
sometimes it feels like this song was written for me. i can almost hear my best friend sing this to me. the "round here" in the second part of the song makes me think of him, and how he was my escape from the "round here" of standing up straight and looking the same.
this is an awesome song. i love it.

Personally, i don't think we ever should have gone in there in the first place. We had no buisness there. Bush kinda thought it was gonna be a quick fix, in, out, boom, done. but the rest of the world (besides Congress) knew that it wasn't that simple.
This whole ordeal did nothing but add to my distaste for government.
