    Threads?

My suggestion is to practice a bit. When you are making a post, be sure to preview your post before you submit. This way you will know if you are doing it right.

    Threads?

Thank you so much for you reply. Since I've been reading this forum your posts have been thoughtful and I know what you mean about them being addicting. I just started posting this weekend! I have a heavy load this semester and should have been studying but I rationalized this by saying 'it's Labor Day Weekend so I should enjoy me break'. I have to get serious though tomorrow. I have several chapters to read and I'm writing a paper that is due next Monday. I actually found the Songfacts website because of an column in the Malboro magazine last March. I've been there several times but have never read the message board link til the other day. I am suprised at the insight you gain by reading other peoples opinions/banter. I will have to limit myself to maybe 30min to an hour a day or I could get very behind. Thank you again, you seem like a wonderful person (Even if I don't always know who you are talking about) P.S. How does the quoting thing work?
  6. I...can't...help myself. I like that song Matthew Ryan Do you think if I made up some random name anyone would call me on it. P.S.I posted a thread on the Film and Music board
  7. As previous posts would indicate I a fan of fan of Wes Anderson movies. I'm getting one for Christmas this year. Their is a trailer if you think you might also be. The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou Bill Murray was in The Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore. He gave such great performances in them. He is the lead again and I have a feeling it will be good!
  8. Nada Surf - "High/Low" by Abby J., Sharon, MA If you're looking for a fresh, easy-going sound, check out Nada Surf. This three-man band makes simple but great music. Unlike most, they don't overwhelm your ears with complicated guitar solos or loud, fast lyrics; their music is at a far greater level than most bands. They have smooth, catchy riffs that are clear and concise, and their vocals are melodic and fluid. The band itself stays low-key and off mainstream airwaves, but they tour frequently and perform at small venues for their loyal fans. Nada Surf's first album, "High/Low," released in 1996, has 10 great tracks. It creates a cool setting with the low, relaxed songs and then blows you away with the lyrics of the deep, intellectual ones. The most profound song, "Popular," is a satirical piece about the shallowness of popularity. "Sleep" and "Stalemate" are well-written, fun and creative; "Psychic Caramel" has such an interesting name it makes you want to listen to it just for that reason! Another satirical piece is "Hollywood," and yes, you guessed it, it mocks show business. The CD ends with a bang; "Zen Brain" addresses the subconscious. It's about how we should throw away the predispositions we have to be happier and it pulls together the theme of the CD. Most CDs sound exactly the same with boring lyrics, but Nada Surf is an awesome band. "High/Low" is a great album by a great band that you may have never heard of, but is definitely worth picking up. Once you start listening, you won't want to stop. Their light, airy sound, combined with amazing lyrics, makes a great compilation. Take a listen and tell me what you all think.
  9. Elliott Smith He did a song called Needle in the Hay which I found on my Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack which is I really like. It was one of those songs that I listened to constantly when I got it. I put up some more clues for my song in the Guess the Song thread if you feel like giving it another go.

    Best Scenes

I love the scene in the Royal Tenenbaums where Royal tells Etheline that he is dying. If you haven't seen that movie you go right out and rent it! Let me know. Not only is it terribly funny but quite moving also. P.S. While you're at Blockbuster you should also get Bottlerockets and Rushmore. Wes Anderson(and Owen Wilson) are absolutely fabulous. They have what they call the Citeron (I know the spelling is wrong)collection on DVD that has great extras.
  11. Yes There's a band called X who did a cover of the Doors' song Crystal Ship
  12. U2 How weird! I just posted earlier about I am obessed with the U2 song Bad and when I went to read your post it came up randomly. Mmmm....I really am obessed with this song!
  13. Silverchair Yes, the thing I liked about it and the Late Late Show was five questions. I also liked the song Chris Issac did for the Late Late Show. I haven't watched it in at least year though.
