  1. Don't you guys have MPs or something? My son-in-law (from liverpool) says they are your equivalnt to our state representatives. ::
  2. David Lee Roth was the better lead singer, IMO. Sammy Hagar is good- but what's up with all the screaming! That I don't like. I was gonna post a thread asking if anyone has seen them this tour, because they are coming to St.Louis next month and I'd like to see them, if it's worth it.
  3. Gilla- to make it a little easier I'll give you the info that I remember from civics class- circa 1972, and no jokes, I'm old as dirt compared to many at this site, but I don't think the constitution has changed that much. House of representatives- 2 years State senator- 6 years Governor- 4 years State house member- 2 years As far as county info goes, many counties local governments are set up differently. For example the county I live in has only had a county commisioner for about 10 years. If you need specific info I would pick up the phone and call your local government center. They'd be happy to help you. Also, I realize with the internet, it might not be your first thought, but lots of research can be done at your local library. If you're doing a report or something good luck- get a A+.
  4. Hey Footy- I really did mean it. Disco, for the most part did suck. Occasional songs were all right, but as a rule-well it sucked. I am not homophobic or racist, I just know what I like in music. I graduated high school in 1975,so I know where of I speak. Lots of people loved disco. They are mostly the easy listening people of today, a group I do not belong to. I am of the rock group. Back then these two really didn't mix. I rocked then and I'm still rockin' today.
  5. Gotta admit, disco did suck. If you like to dance it's good, for the beat, or at least it was then. The BeeGees however are a whole other story. They were brilliant song writers, and producers.Their arrangements were unbelivable. They crossed several genres, and whether ballads, rock, or disco, they were successful. The very length of their carrer is testimony to their popularity, talent and success. Love em!
  6. The Allman bros. are one of the most popular bands at this site. They are probably the best southern rock band out there, or at least equal to Lynard Skynard. :guitar: The personal history of the band is interesting too-check it out. The more of their music you hear the more you'll like em.
  7. Thank you Scott!! I thought maybe people thought I was promoting drugs. Super Sex is a super cool song- and yeah they lay those horns on just right huh? I'm not a nutbag, and if you liked super sex you should check out some more of their stuff. It's definately different, but once you get into their groove, I gaurantee you'll dig it!
  8. Guess not. Are they so ambiguous that I can't even get a hate opinion?
  9. Come on, has no one ever even heard of Morphine? Great alternative/jazz stuff. Opinions good or bad?
  10. I'm no help. I know the song you mean but can't remember the title or who did it. Take me on... Take on me... Maybe some one else can help- I know those two phrases follow each other.
  11. Weren't we talking sarcasm?
  12. Any fans of Morphine here? The band not the drug! The two cds I have, Cure for Pain and Yes are fantastic. Check out the songs super sex and honey white especially. The music- the lyrics- unbelievable.
  13. I think y'all took me a little too seriously. I never thought anyone was being nasty here. I just thought the amount of space dedicated to sarcasm in a lot of posts lately was going over the top. This one thread probably was a good idea, get it all out of your system. Y'all can be as sarcastic as you want. I just thought in sarcasm thread I would state my opinion of it. I can be as sarsastic as they come, but only when I know how the person will take it. And yes, I do have an unbelievably firm grasp of the obvious!
  14. Speaking of this song- what the heck is "The Pompatus of Love? I've heard guesses but can't remember any. One of my favorite songs for more years than I care to think, since it came out when I was a freshman in hing school! :guitar:
  15. Good Lord - Knock it off. Sarcasm can be funny or it can be unkind. Funny it's fine but there is no reason to hurt someone, and certainly no reason for an entire thread!
  16. Definately Boones Farm Strawberry Hill! I've done some of my best pukin on that! Madog too. The girls definatly have to wear platform shoes and hip hugger jeans and halter tops too. Guys wear leather boots and bandanas around their heads. Anyhing leather with fringe is great- purses, belts, jackets. Don't play much disco unless you really like it. Not one of the better points of 70's music. And you should probably leave out the many bongs and such that were always around! Hey- can I come?
  17. golden ann, I would like to know you're opinion on who are actually talented singers. Dylan's "distinctive" voice fits the type of songs that he sings and writes. He's a writer that sings. He has never been considered a singer per say. There is a difference. Very few talented singers write thier own songs. And in my opinion, Lauper has a great voice. Her choice of songs wasn't always the best but I don't think you can fault her voice. I agree about the teenyboppers. The young singers of today don't seem to have any new style to add to the music world.
  18. Thorogood does it everytime. So do the Stones. Both are really just bar bands at heart!
  19. the bands above are great. Add some led zeppelin, deep purple, black sabbath, and for some comic relief, cheech and chong. Kegs were real important back then, but you may not be old enough. Don't forget the posters for the blacklights! Sounds like a good party.
  20. sweet baby james *** absolutely perfect!
  21. Do ya do ya do ya do ya wanna dance? Do ya do ya do ya do ya wanna dance? Oh Donna, do ya wanna dance? Is that it? I really don't have a clue- but it sounds like a california sound don't you think?
  22. I agree- leo sayer sounds right.Very distinctive voice he has.
  23. Are we talking albums or singles here? People have posted answers on both. Again I think it's an older group/song and one which is not an obvious choice. am I right on that at least?
  24. I'm thinking everyone's wrong. I don't know what the answer is, but I think I've heard it before and it was much older, maybe from the 60's or early 70's. I'd like to say the rolling stones, although I'm sure it isn't, just cause they're my no.1 band of all time!

    Chat?

If it could be worked out chat would be lovely. I know it would be a lot of work but there seems to be several qualified volunteers.
