  1. There was a succsessful band here in the 70s. Pavlovs Dog. I think that's a great name, kinda makes you think about that poor dog, huh? Anyway the band rocked, I guess they must have "learned something".
  2. No one has mentioned BOC- Blue Oyster Cult. Although I dislike it when people use initials for bands if that wasn't the original name. I still call them Blue Oyster Cult. When Creedence Clearwater Revival was recording, they were never called CCR. If anything they were just called Creedence. Oh well. If the world turned according to my likes it would be a whole different world. Oh yeah Diggs how's the Mrs? Do we have a baby yet?
  3. Casaroli, I am computer challenged. I'm lucky to get an email sent to the right place. I hope sombody answers you, cause I've been wanting to ask that myself!! ::
  4. great name! now I'm going to have to locate their stuff!
  5. Don't you think knowing Cooper that this was probably engineered by him? I'm sure a big deal will be made of the coincidence.
  6. Oh Muzik, that was the first song I thought of, too. And yes I remember seeing that cute boy,(read ooooooooh, isn't he cute!!) on AB. Kinda did well for himself didn't he?
  7. Ok, if I never came back to this site again I could be happy with this last thread I've been reading. All of the Motown stuff, Ike and Tina Turner and most of the rest are great R&B musicians. But I'm thrilled to see people mention Jimmy Reed, Howlin Wolf, Buddy Miles and the great Etta James. I'm sure she was greatly influenced by Billie Holiday. Without going all the way back through all the posts (yes this is lazy) did we mention Aretha Franklin? That's R&B. My favorite band the Rolling Stones are considered by a lot of people as more R&B than R&R. I don't know about that, I really don't care either way. What do you think?
  8. No absolutely not, that's too hard, right off the top of my head, and it's not fair researching it. The only thing that enters my mind at this moment of first cup of coffee is Might As Well Go For A Soda, by I don't know who, and thats not even a good one!
  9. dug- yeah, politics suck really, where ever you are. As far as music goes, I like classic rock of course, cause that's when I grew up. My favorites are the Stones and Hendrix. I like some new stuff (not much), old country, and then I veer off the mainstream and get into Beefheart, and Morphine and almost any blues stuff you can think of. How about yourself?
  10. Sorry to hijack the thread but- Ron I don't know about opening up a place in Michigan, but we have 3 guys from there who have visited us at least every couple years for the past 10 years or so. It seems these guys take a road trip on their bikes every year, and somehow ended up in our part of the world. One of them had trouble with his bike, and since we are way out in the country, they had no idea where to get parts. We helped them out, got his bike running, and they have been friends ever since. Come on down, we like guys from Michigan!
  11. Interesting...I would never have guessed that he's still recording. Thanks.
  12. Anybody remember that golden oldie Wipeout? Can you hear it today without drumming? I can remember just about every guy in school challenging each other with that song. I couldn't play the drums if I tried, but I can do that one song!!
  13. I haven't heard that song yet, and I can't listen cause my speakers died! I am, however, a fan of country music. Traditional(if thats the right word)country. I'm really into Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, George Jones and on and on. I love it when any "new" artist releases a song along those lines, instead of the commercial crap that gets all the airplay. I'll have to turn the dial and perk up my ears!
  14. To take a hint from the original post, I'll move to another time and genre. Two songs, same artist. Patsy Cline. Crazy and Walkin After Midnight. Make that three songs. I might have to add the Tenessee Waltz. Miss Cline had one of the most melodic voices I can think of.
  15. I always thought it was about sex, but maybe that's too obvious?
  16. konstantine- I don't know the answer to your question- just thought I'd reply cause we're neighbors (St.Charles)!! I'm of the opinion that a lot of songs don't have actual, official meanings at all, or at least ones that are known only to the songwriter. Somebody here can help you though, I'm sure.
  17. I just got out of the car where I have been singing along to the radio to Donovan's Atlantis. I love that song! Hadn't heard it in years, it probably came out when I was 11 or 12. Which then led me to remember Hurdy Gurdy Man and Mellow Yellow. What happened to Donovan? Did he just fade away? I think I remember something about him ,but what??
  18. I saw this kid on the Ellen show when I was home from work. He actually looked 8 unless he's awfully small. He was arockin' though. Pretty awesome for a kid of any age, I thought! :guitar:
  19. Thanks all for taking me back to high school. Just reading the lists made me smile! ::
  20. dug- sounds like we have a lot in common government wise! :: Colin has told me that about Liverpool ( he's been over here only about 6 years). His mother now lives in (I'm not going to spell this right-figure it out)Wirrell, near Wales. Is that better?
  21. Jimmy- Congratulations on all that dust-along with dust comes some great life experiences. Double congrats on your anniversary at work - old or not, you must really enjoy what you do. Heck of an accomplishment in these days!
  22. Love to!! Let's see, St. Charles to Springfield? Maybe 5 hours? Not bad for a great party. I could at least check up on your authenticity! We did this type party for a friends 40th birthday and it was fun. Unfortunately we were reliving out youth, not just having a theme party!
