Great idea Mike, we're working on some updates for the home page & will keep this in mind. Thanks!
  2. I just listened to WIDEOPEN's latest CD, All Things Between - a great, classic rock sound, talent and meaningful lyrics. They're the full package and well worth a listen. Check them out!
  3. She may be a little quirky but boy can she sing! Cyndi gave a great concert - a nice mixture of her classics (i.e. True Colors, Girls Just Want to Have Fun and I Drove All Night) and her new cover album. Her versions of At Last, Unchained Melody and If You Go Away were amazing and she did a great job of making them her own. Her energy is boundless and it made for great entertainment; just herself, her band and a twinkling backdrop!
  4. Well, the most I could find out is that the music for the show was written and performed by Chad Fisher. The show doesn't seem to have a soundtrack out though, so the music is scarce. I think your best bet may be to find a re-run and watch the credits! Good luck finding it! Sara
  5. I'm glad you enjoy the site and thanks for the suggestion! Its always helpful to know what people are thinking as they try to navigate the site. I'll look into your idea and we'll see what we can do to make the experience better! Anyone else agree, disagree, have other ideas for how they'd like the Artist Search to work? Thanks! Sara
  6. Yeah, I've had that happen too. It's because the game randomly selects questions from the database. Some day we'll improve it so that it tracks which questions you've been given, but that will take some considerable time and programming finesse - money too if we can't figure out how to do it ourselves and have the developers take care of it! But hey, it can be an advantage - you're sure to get it right the second time! I'm impressed you play that much, you must be getting good at it! Any perfect scores yet?
  7. Has anyone tried it out? I'd love feedback on it - good or bad! Feedback in general about the site design would be great....anything you really like? ....anything you really hate? ....ideas for improvements you'd like to see??? Thanks! Sara
  8. Bjork - good call! Dancer in the Dark was incredible, a definite "must rent" movie. But, don't watch it if you're not in the mood for a depressing movie, and be sure to have lots of tissues handy! I hadn't heard about the "bad experience" do you know what happened?
  9. I think Cirque du Soleil is amazing! I've seen La Nouba and Dralion and am looking forward to the chance to see another. I think the words you're looking for may not exist... I found this description of the La Nouba music on the Cirque du Soleil website: I'll let you know if I am able to find out anything more about their "imaginary and mysterious language."
  10. Kris & Rita Breakaway (1974) by Kris Kristofferson & Rita Coolidge 1. Lover Please 2. We Must Have Been Out of Our 3. Dakota 4. What'cha Gonna Do? 5. The Things I Might Have Been 6. Slow Down 7. Rain 8. Sweet Susannah 9. I've Got to Have You 10. I'd Rather Be Sorry 11. Crippled Crow I found the track list online, I've never heard of Kris & Rita - are they good?
  11. Hi, I found their website: www.leonardos-bride.com.au. It's a really cute site and there's all kinds of info including some interviews in the "Press Articles" section a brief "Biography" that may give you some of the insite you're looking for. It looks like their most recent album was Open Sesame in 2000. There're links to where you can buy the albums online. Enjoy!
  12. I can't say I know a lot of Lyle's music but I loved this show! I always thought Lyle Lovett was cool and enjoyed his music when I heard it but prior to this show I couldn't really call myself a true fan. Lyle gave a great performance backed by his 9 piece Cowboy Band, which I hear is actually his small band! The music was great - I'd say the upright bass, cello and the 3 guitar harmonies were my favorites. Lyle was witty and incredibly adorable and ended the show by bringing out a gospel choir and doing a couple of great roof-raising gospel songs. I'd give this concert an A all around and highly recommend it whether you're a fan or just know a few songs! The concert was in the Shubert Theater, a great place to see a show if you're in CT. Anyone else ever seen Lyle? I'd love to hear what his "big" band is like!
  13. There was another discussion about this song a few months ago, maybe you'll find something helpful in there: Sara
  14. Another notable artist from the NEMO Music Showcase & Conference that we attended this past weekend is Canadian singer/songwriter Allen Dobb. His latest album Bottomland was nominated for ?Best Folk/Roots Album of the Year? for the 2003 Canadian Indie Music Awards. The nomination is well deserved, I've had the album on repeat in my car for 2 days! If you like Bruce Springsteen, Steve Earle, Dave Alvin or Lyle Lovett, give Allen Dobb a try. Download and watch the Bottomland video at www.allendobb.com and listen to Fool's Gold from Allen's first album Horses and Hills. :guitar:
  15. As Carl promised, we're back from the NEMO Music Showcase & Conference with some great music finds. My favorite is singer/songwriter David Berkeley. Sadly we saw only the last two songs of his set but that was enough for me to purchase his CD The Confluence - which makes me a very smart person seeing as the CD is great! David's live set was simply him, his guitar and his mandolin player, Adam Buchwald, which was plenty to catch our attention. The album has a rich accompaniment of instruments and background vocals which I love. David's voice is beautiful whether backed by many instruments or simply his acoustic guitar. If you like Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel, Nick Drake or similar artists then David Berkeley is definitely one to check out - read about him at CD Baby or Ten Good Records and be sure to give him a listen at MP3.com.
  16. First off, Eddie From Ohio is not from Ohio! This group of 4 hails from Virginia - you can read about their name and lots of other great info on their website: www.eddiefromohio.com. You also can sample a couple of their songs there. (Click on the Quick album and listen to the title song - its a good representation of their music.) I first heard them when I was living in Atlanta - they tour extensively and are a lot of fun live. They're one of those bands that hasn't made it to the "mainstream" but have a large, dedicated fan base. Calling them a folk band is limiting the scope of their music but its the best name I can put on it. They describe themsleves as "Folkin' Excellent!" The music is lyrically driven and has great acoustic instrumentation - bongos, harmonica, guitars, vocal harmonies, etc. Check them out - you won't be dissappointed! Anyone else heard them and have anything to add?
  17. This is the place to let people know about the great musicians you hear. Share good music and help the musicians get more exposure. Here's some ideas for how to post: Be sure to tell us the name of the artist or group. Where do they call home? Where did you see them? What kind of music do they play? Can you make a comparison to any mainstream artists? Do they have a website? Can we purchase/hear their music somewhere? Any other tidbits you'd like to add Have fun! Forum Rules Apply

  19. It looks like the server got confused when it rebooted. If it can't grab a date it defaults to 1969. We'll do our best to get this fixed soon.
