  1. It's ok, PETA, I'm no hypocrite. If murder was legal, I'd eat humans. As I've said before. Till then, animals will do.
  2. Yes, but fortunately it's a dreadful song. Get them on to Gaga
  3. Jup, I can't always match water for wine, but I do automatically crave water after every couple of glasses. Then, I make sure I have a glass of water before falling asleep and keep one by my bedside just in case.
  4. The friends of mine who've remained mostly single seem to 'justify' it with the Stereotype Perspective. So I had a friend from school tell me he was happy to stay single because he didn't want to be tied down to a nagging girlfriend. Meanwhile, on the chick front, girls tend to blame their excessively high standards and the ol' All The Good Ones Are Taken theory. They're really not I'm extra happy for the most sensible of all my girlfriends who knows this and doesn't put herself out there. She's just honest and a lovely person and attracts the most wonderful guys. So her main worry is being surrounded by too many good people all of whom are in love with her. It's quite traumatic for her but it's good to be loved so genuinely and she deserves it
  5. See I think the nagging relationship thing is just a stereotype. All I've learned from v. limited experience is that you know you're doing something right if you're with someone who makes you a better person. And everyone needs SOMEONE - not like a romantic relationship, but you need a social circle of some description, however tiny. Man is a social animal, and all that.
  6. Heyyyy I post here a couple of times a day!
  7. Everyone (I've talked to) hates it and they hate the new logo too.
  8. PS: That last picture in the email is almost exactly how I was planning to wear it!!!
  9. Thanks UnkaJoe the brown probably would probably have worked with the black, the way I was planning to wear it but, I guess being so dark, may have taken something away from the dress, I feel. I think it was a good idea to match the shawl. Now I'm home and back in my Levis and my turtlenecks the way I like to be
  10. Beverly Kills - Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti
  11. Thanks you guys! I did opt for the silver tights. Don't worry, they're not blindingly shiny silver, they're a muted, sparkly grey. Peaches' was the last post I saw before falling asleep and I agree, I don't play dress up on a daily basis. So I plan to use people as windcheaters - I'm making them look good, the least they can do is keep me warm. Also, I've accessorised with silver earrings and I'll swap the hi-contrast jacket I'm currently wearing for a black 4real kashmiri shawl* that I love lots. I think the only safe way you can wear brown with black is if you have black pants and a brown shirt... it's quite an iffy area. I'll try to get pictures, but no guarantee. Oh and wouldn't you know there's a cold front moving in to Melbourne today, so I'm freezing my extremities off? I'm stopping traffic while I do it, so I guess that's a fair exchange. [*Lea's black sparkly shawl would've been great here though]
  12. You guys I need fashion helps. I have to go to a posh evening thing tomorrow and have been given explicit, yet tactful instructions viz. "NO JEANS!" I made sad faces but they did not work and now I have a black dress and am trying to decide what to wear with it. I would LIKE to wear brown stockings and a beige scarf but am not sure brown goes with black. Alternatively I could wear silver tights that are awesome and let the rest of me freeze. The essence of the question is this: does brown go with black?
  13. Heyyyyy take that back, my favourite albums are consistent. Also I am totally not a hipster, I am too narrow minded and not experimental to be one. ANYWAY, we went record shopping on Sunday. I emitted a series of squeaks and yelps and emerged with: 1. The Front - S/T - a band/album a shoegazer friend on Facebook brought to my attention. I'd only heard Sunshine Girl - a song that predates Smells Like Teen Spirit and uses the same riff. I loved it when I heard it and this album was buried right at the back of the last row of the (predominantly rubbish) 5$ section. 2. Mansun - Six - I have this album already but you have to have a physical copy for the album art. Also - MANSUN!! 3. Primitve Radio Gods - Rocket - SQUEAK WHAT?!?! excuse me while I sew this album on to my person. 4. Sharks Patrol These Waters - Various (The best of Volume Part II) - shoved into my hands by one infinitely more knowledgeable (and correct) boyfriend who told me I would like it. I had most of the songs already, so yes I WOULD like it. The booklet is great and I've been going through it while commuting. Just the sort of thing that screams my name and makes me painfully aware of the fact that I was born a few years to late and a few countries too far away.
  14. Millionyoung is promising as well but he has like one, maybe two good songs. he has something like five in total, so that's why I say 'promising' Toro y Moi is the one that's good but I find gets old after a while. it's the same loose tape, warped vinyl sound over and over again.
  15. No, wrong, if you want to do chillwave you start with Memory Tapes and then Washed Out.
  16. you're just being mean because you haven't heard it and also because you're just being mean I AM SOOOO ON TO YOU
  17. ^yessssssssssssssss last album by slowdive, the one that got them knocked off their label and marked the end of shoegaze. It's beautiful, it's like it's alive, you can feel it breathe, it's sound alchemy.
  18. [biggest]PYGMALION[/biggest] only my favourite album ever apart from my REAL favourite album ever. Now I have it in PHYSICAL FORMAT - 2 CDs (ALBUM PLUS DEMOS!!!!!) that I had shipped over from the UK for the measly sum of 20$. Cherry Red is reissuing a lot of its back catalog including entire discographies and prior to this Pygmalion was entirely out of print with the single CD only available through unofficial sources for unreasonable prices (fifty $? I think not). Now... now it's finally here, it's with me, and it's mine and I love it and we are going to run away together and be wed, Oh Pygmalion, I love you I love you I love you
