I recently bought "The Temptations sing Smokey", a compilation of songs written by Smokey Robinson, that includes the glorious "You beat me to the punch" and "What love has joined together". My brother has every Motown album (vynil) that was ever released. ::

One of my all-time favourites is Jimmy Ruffin's "What becomes of the broken-hearted." When my daughter was in Kindergarten, I used to drive her and she would always request that song on the way. So there we sat, mother and daughter, going to school and work respectively and singing What becomes of the broken-hearted at the top of our lungs!

I also liked Erasure and their first album, they had something to do with Yazoo or Depeche Mode... maybe Vince Clarke was part of it with that Bronsky Beat singer whose name I don´t remember?? Oh, forgive me, JuanJuanJuan, I´m like a old fashioned computer full of very interesting information!

I beg to differ. If Miguel Bosé is the best and Miguel Gallardo and Camilo Sesto are cool, we're not on the same wave length. By the way, Miguel Bosé was born in Panama by chance, because his father (bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguín) was touring Latin America that spring, before bull fighting season started in Spain. His godfather was none other than Pablo Ruiz PICASSO.

Alaska y Dinarama is the best spanish group. they wrere "y los Pegamoides" before and now it´s "Fangoria". I love them (I really do coz some of them have been good friends of mine) It´s kind of funky but if you an download them, great. Fangoria did the whole arrangements for that awfull "Macarena" and los del Río (the ones who sung it) didn´t want to pay the royalties or something and they´ve been sued... bad boys, tss...

[Musical Persecution]

My brother laughed himself silly once because I had bought one of those "Hits of the 60's" compilations, that included nothing but crummy songs, but it also had "Excerpt from a Teenage Opera", which I used to love as a kid, so I couldn't resist it. I bore the humiliation stoically, and got my revenge 20 years later when I found a record by The Carpenters in his very extensive, exquisite vinyls collection. He came out with a lame excuse, saying he had just bought it because Karen Carpenter's voice was unusual. Duuuhhh! Karen Carpenter had a wonderful voice, but their songs were kitsch and I caught him buying kitsch!

I believe my previous post on Alison was lost in the Ether. Anyway.... I recently bought a DVD with the Prince's Trust Rock Gala from 1987 (I believe), that included Alison Moyet, and many of the top acts of Brit Pop. It's a great video, I bought it especially because of her, but I enjoyed the whole thing, Paul Young, Mark King, and of course the final apotheosis with Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Ringo Starr, George Harrison et al.

One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest was my favourite for years. I've never seen a more talented cast in my life - Danny de Vito was incredible!

But since I'm becoming nostalgic (getting old, I guess) I have been buying DVDs of my childhood favourites, and I just got to say what great movies they were!

My favourites are all films starring Hayley Mills, especially Tiger Bay.

...and I wouldn't be a gal if I didn't love those "Sissy" movies of the 60's, starring teenage Romy Schneider as Empress Elizabeth "Sissy" of Austria.

I believe you will like the monks choir of Santo Domingo de Silos. A few years ago they released an album with Deutsche Grammophon called "The mystery of Sto. Domingo de Silos" which was entirely Gregorian chants in Latin. It became a hit record. I especially like the Kyrie and the Pater Noster. Check it out.

The prevailing sentiment seems to be loathing for Katrina and the Wave; but that aside, anytime I hear the beginning of "Walking On Sunshine" I have the desire to dance. I love the energy of that song. It feels ... it feels ... GOOD!

Walking on Sunshine was a great song! Didn't they win Eurovision Song Contest or something of the kind?
