  1. Nothing makes me happier than to hear Gary Oldman as Sid Vicious singing "My Way". To this day, when I hear that song, I just crack up. I don't care what Oldman does, he will always be Sid. Brilliant!
  2. I wouldn't call KISS a joke, but I don't want to get into all that who is better than whom crap. Opinions are like bungholes, sweetie. We all have them. Anyhoo, yes I did see that commercial, and I was so embarrassed for him. It seemed like a desperate attempt to reach the young demographic, who will probably just laugh at him. He looks like a rejected pimp from the Playa's Ball. Yikes. I have lost respect for him, and I never thought that would happen. RIP Gene Simmons' dignity 1949-2004
  3. Hello my sweet Nuttytart, I have thought about how to answer your question, and it seems almost impossible. To me, what is popular music here in America is what they play on TRL, which is a video countdown show on MTV (Music Television). I went to their website and got the list of what videos you can vote for. I don't know that these are all American artists, but they are what's "pop" right now. Honestly, I don't know what half this crap is, but I do hope this will help you. 4. Oh, Amy, I would just die! I am a little too old to swoon over boys, but I haved loved him forever. Like, Oh my God, I am so totally sure, he is such a fox! :: Look, it's 2 of my favorite men...unfortunately, my husband wasn't on the set that day!
  5. Yeah, Scott, YOU SUCK! Boo, Scott, boo... . Smirkingly yours, Peaches
  6. Creed drives me crazy because of "Arms Wide Open". The reason I came to Songfacts in the first place is because I was making a CD for my baby daughter. I was looking for songs from parents to children, and of course that song was one of them. I have a problem with it because it seems very insincere, IMHO. Scott might have had the best of intentions when he wrote it, but it comes off as false to me. Maybe I'm just terribly cynical. Anyhoo, Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely?" kicks the s**t out of "Arms Wide Open". ::
  7. I know I am bumping my own thread, but I want to make sure everyone has a chance to see this. Please forgive my arrogance. ::
  8. So you mean it was the greatest style in the whole world, right? You know I couldn't let this opportunity slip by without a shoutout to my boys!
  9. Joe, "Ribbon" is an amazing song...good choice!
  10. Scott, You are so funny! Maybe while he's in the OR they can remove the stick from his ass... Peaches
  11. I have found a list of the 50 coolest song parts on the retroCRUSH website...retroCRUSH I've got to tell you, the list is pretty complete...something for almost everyone here. I thought about just typing the list for y'all, but you really need to check it out because most of the entries have audio clips to the cool parts. I'll go ahead and let you know that the drum solo in Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight" is #1. I would also like to point out #41 ROCKS!
  12. That?s a difficult question. The answer used to be cut and dried?if you are singing about your woman (or man) leaving you or cheating on you, your dog dying, drinking a beer, or driving your truck (sometimes all at the same time!), that was country. But the line has become so blurry, it?s hard to tell these days. Shania Twain and Faith Hill are two country stars that have crossed over to pop. I know that some Eagles songs are considered country, but I think of the group as rock. Basically, I have not answered your question, because I haven't quite figured it out myself. So sorry, Pink. Perhaps someone else has the answer!
  13. Here is a link to another similar thread... Summer Songs. As far as artists that sound like Avril or Michelle, the only one I can think of is Vanessa Carlton. Sara, words cannot describe how much I love "Chains of Love" by Erasure. Remember "Oh, L'amour"? Oh, my teenage years...so long ago...
  14. Ken, That sounds amazing. I love Ben Harper's voice, and "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" is one of my favorite songs. When my daughter is crying, I'll sing it to her and she usually calms down. Of course, she might be so horrified by my singing that she is stunned into silence, but that's another story. Anyhoo, I looked the DVD up on Amazon, and they have it for only $12. Not too shabby. Here is a link to it...Amazon. Thanks for the referral! Peaches

  16. Dio Tenacious D Dio has rocked for a long, long time, Now it's time for him to pass the torch. He has songs of wildebeasts and angels, He has soared on the wings of a demon. It's time to pass the torch, You're too old to rock, no more rockin' for you. We're takin' you to a home, But we will sing a song about you. And we will make sure that you're very well taken care of. You'll tell us secrets that you've learned. Raow! Your sauce will mix with ours, And we'll make a good goulash baby. Dio, time to go! You must give your cape and scepter to me. And a smaller one for KG. Go! Go! Dio! Dio! I cannot express how happy I am to see my boys on the countdown! I do think that #3 should be #1...who the hell remembers Hear N Aid?
  17. Katie, I went online to find a list for you and came up with this...Classic Rock Greats If you click on the band names, it will take you to a brief history and some suggestions for albums. Not too bad, huh? :: Happy hunting, Peaches
  18. Muzik, Were you the one who changed the other thread to "I Hate Elvis"? :: You can always be counted on to cut to the chase and tell it like it is. I love that! BTW, I am quite fond of the ellipsis...in case you haven't figured that out!
  19. Ant, I'll be dipped...you do know s**t! Thanks for the info. I might use this knowledge to hijack some threads. Woo hoo! Peaches Oh, Ant, you funny, funny insect!
  20. Hey Carl & Sara, I was wondering why certain threads seem to have different names. The one that caught my eye was psychocatholic's "OK i really gotta get this out..." thread. Sometimes it will come up "I hate Elvis" or "The Originator". Is there a way to change the names? No rush, not important, just my inquisitive nature. Color me curious, Peaches ::
  21. When I was growing up, all the schools in our area always did a production of "Godspell". I watch the hippy 70s movie version every year at Easter. Did you know that the Jesus in that movie is Victor Garber, the guy from "Alias"? I almost fell over when I made that connection...I guess I didn't recognize him without the 'fro!
  22. Lyla, BTW congratulations! :: Have someone take lots of pictures, not just of the ceremony, but everything leading up to it. I know I was so excited and stressed and happy and freaked out that I swear I don't remember anything that happened! I look at the pictures and it's like looking at another person's wedding. I wish you lots of love and happiness...true love is very hard to find, so be appreciative when you find it! I have just realized that Lyla started this thread back in March, so she is probably married by now. Duh...
