  1. Fair enough. I have only been here one day. I have no right to judge anybody on this board. I have been reading many rock/metal message boards lately and this the first music site that I have actually signed in and posted. This is an ALL MUSIC site also so I can also see how the views on different genres might be more opened minded. My earlier post was a reply to 99% of the Evanescence post I have read in the last couple months on other sites. It was not directed at this board, and you are right I should have started my own thread. Sorry about that. And now to answer and respond to your post.... I read it a million times on the metal/rock boards and it pissed me off. I apologize for taking it out on this board. I was also wrong with this statement as I did use the word ANY so I am going to re-phrase that... I beleive that most all bands/artist will sell out to SOME EXTENT if given the chance. I know I would $$$. Sonic Youth Sells Out: Read All About It! I cant wait to get my new Sonic Youth Coffee Mug. As seen on TV! :: I did write this for criticizing artist. I wrote it for the REASONS the artist are be criticized. I believe that most of the people on the message boards I was reading like what they like because it is "COOL" among their peers to do so(IMAGE), which is one of the main problems many of them have with corporate music. Much of corporate music does suck. Just dont say it because you think Sally, Joe, Bob and Bill might also. I have a hard time beleiving that many people can feel Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, The Gathering ect. and then be totally disgusted by Evanescence. My ears must be completly f#@%d up. Again I apologize for directing my comments at this board. Anyway that What Song are Listing To is a very cool thread and has helped add many many songs to my library. MP3's

Reba Mcentire - He was on his home from candletop Been two weeks gone and he thought he'd stop At web's and have him a drink before he went home to her Andy Wo-Lo said hello He said " Hi, what's doin'" Wo said " Sit down I got some bad news, it's gonna hurt" He said "I'm your best friend and you know that's right But your young bride aint't home tonight Since you been gone she's been seeing that Amos boy Seth" Now he got mad and he saw red Andy said "boy don't lose your head Cause to tell you the truth I've been with her myself" Chorus: That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia That's the night that they hung an innocent man Well don't trust your soul to no back woods southern lawyer Cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands Well, Andy got scared and left the bar Walking on home cause he didn't live far you see Andy didn't have many friends, and he just lost him one Brother thought his wife must've left town So he went home and finally found the only thing Daddy had left him and that was a gun He went off to Andy's house Slipping through the back woods quiet as a mouse Came upon some tracks too small for Andy to make He looked through the screen at the back porch door And he saw Andy lyin on the floor In a puddle of blood and he started to shake The Georgia patrol was making their rounds So he fired a shot just to flag 'em down A big bellied sheriff grabbed his gun and said "Why'd you do it" The judge said guilty in a make believe trial Slapped the sheriff on the back with a smile and said "Supper waiting at home and I got to get to it" Chorus: That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia That's the night that they hung an innocent man Well don't trust your soul to no back woods southern lawyer Cause the judge in the town's got blood stains on his hands Well they hung my brother before I could say The tracks he saw while on his way To Andy's house and back that night were mine And his cheatin wife had never left town And that's one body that'll never be found You see little sister don't miss when she aims her gun Chorus: That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia That's the night that they hung an innocent man Don't trust your soul with no back woods southern lawyer Cause the judge in the town's got blood stains on his hands That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia That's the night that they hung an innocent man Don't trust your soul with no back woods southern lawyer Cause the judge in the town's got blood stains on his hands --------------------------------------------------------- Reba did it! Beat that O.J.
  3. Great Story Song... Fancy - Reba Mcentire I remember it all very well lookin' back It was the summer I turned eighteen We lived in a one room, rundown shack On the outskirts of New Orleans We didn't have money for food or rent To say the least we were hard pressed Then Mama spent every last penny we had To buy me a dancin' dress Mama washed and combed and curled my hair And she painted my eyes and lips then I stepped into a satin dancin' dress that had a split from the side clean up to my hip It was red velvet trimmin' and it fit me good Standin' back from the lookin' glass There stood a woman where a half grown kid had stood She said here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down Mama dabbed a little bit of perfume on my neck And she kissed my cheek Then I saw the tears wellin' up in her troubled eyes as she started to speak She looked at our pitiful shack And then she looked at me and took a ragged breath She said your Pa's run'd off and I'm real sick And the baby's gonna starve to death She handed me a heart shaped locket that said "To thine own self be true" And I shivered as I watched a roach crawl across The tow of my high heel shoe It sounded like somebody else that was talkin' Askin' Mama what do I do She said just be nice to the gentlemen Fancy And they'll be nice to you She said here's your chance Fancy don't let me down Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down Lord forgive me for what I do, but if you want out Well it's up to you Now don't let me down your Mama's gonna move you uptown. Well, that was the last time I saw my Ma The night I left that rickety shack The welfare people came and took the baby Mama died and I ain't been back But the wheels of fate had started to turn And for me there was no way out And it wasn't long 'til I knew exactly What my Mama'd been talkin' about I knew what I had to do and I made myself this solemn vow That I's gonna be a lady someday Though I didn't know when or how I couldn't see spending the rest of my life With my head hung down in shame you know I might have been born just plain white trash But Fancy was my name Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down It wasn't long after a benevolent man Took me in off the street And one week later I was pourin' his tea In a five room hotel suite I charmed a king, a congressman And an occasional aristocrat Then I got me a Georgia mansion In an elegant New York townhouse flat And I ain't done bad Now in this world there's a lot of self-righteous hippocrits That would call me bad And criticize Mama for turning me out No matter how little we had But though I ain't had to worry 'bout nothin' For nigh on fifteen years I can still hear the desperation in my poor Mama's voice ringin' in my ears She said, here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down Lord, forgive me for what I do But if you want out well it's up to you Now don't let me down Your Mama's gonna move you uptown Oh, and I guess she did ------------------------------------------------- See its O.K. to be a prostitute ::
  4. This is going to be a long post because I have a little to say about the prostitution of artist. I have been reading alot of boards lately and it upsets me how hypocritical people are in that they shun very talented artist strictly on the bases of their image and corprate status. People, It's OK to like sellouts if they are good. People automatically think that just because an artist is a huge corporate sellout that they have no musical or vocal talent. 99% of the time it seems to work out that way but you can't knock Christina Aguilera's vocals. Christina didn't need T&A to make it. She could have been an ugly heffer and made it pretty far on her vocals alone. I would much rather listen to Christina than Britney, Jessica, Ashely or any of the other Pop diva sellouts (Except Amy Lee). Amy Lee is a big time sellout. No artist can come out of thin air and sell 6 million records without some MAJOR corporate promotion. But Amy Lee does happen to be my favorite artist because has AWESOME VOCALS (even live), writes her own lyrics which is unbeleivable stuff given the age that she and her band partner Ben Moody were at the time of writing most of the lyrics. She also is a very solid pianist and is very involved in determining how her bands music sounds. She and her band also have a Non-corporate driven record (Origin; 2000) that is one of the best I have ever heard. It really pisses me off when people compare her to the Britneys, Ashleys, and Jessicas of pop music. The former artist mentioned are basically only vocals and image and Ashely Vinilli... I mean Ashley Simpson is pure image. Given that... Any artist will sell out if given the chance, even that super talented artist you love that nobody else knows about right now. If you gaurentee them 6 million records they are going sign the dotted line and bend over for the american masses to stick it in. (I know I would) Keep an opened mind people. Ashley Simpson does F#@%n suck though and so does Britney. Christina has some pipes though, you gotta give her that. red2177 has spoken
  5. Although I will not say they are the best, off the top of my head I like the following story songs: Devil Went Down to Georgia - Charlie Daniels Uneasy Rider - Charlie Danials Tribute - Tenacious D
