  1. There was a band from the UK called China Crisis. I really like their approach to pop music and songwriting. They are often regarded as the followers of Steely Dan, but their music is unique - new wave with a psych touch. Can you recall any bands in that sense? My only suggestion so far is Kajagoogoo, the album White Feathers.
  2. oh, I might have been mistaken underestimating the chances for their early stuff
  3. (2 all) BTW, can anybody tell why Martin replaces Dave in relatively recent live performances (i personally like either way, though)? awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEeLa3SLvWg
  4. yes, I agree almost on everything you said. We can see real evolution of the band up to Violator. However, Black Celebration is imo rather monotonic (sometimes boring) to be flawless. You're right. From the " The colours of Spring" point, they sound quite different, I'd say it's not even pop music! This is post rock or something like that... Some could consider such a bend to be decrease in quality because the band sacrificed catchy "New Romantics" tunes.
  5. By observation Compared to their New Wave/Pop Rock peers such as Duran Duran, OMD, A-Ha, Pet Shop Boys, Spandau Ballet, Talk Talk etc who had strong first releases. I doubt someone would mention the albums by DM issued in the period 81-83 as favorite, but anything can be.
  6. Hello, I believe it's interesting to note that the band is renown for their mid and even later albums unlike many others. My personal favorites are Some Great Reward and Music for the Masses (the song of all time is Shake the Disease, both the studio and live version). And yours?
