  1. Thanks everybody! I am glad to know that I'm not a total idiot after all! LOL!
  2. I did not find this song listed under the Songs List. I feel like maybe I'm missing some brain cells to have to ask this, but I really don't understand what the song's actually saying. I know a guy's begging for change, but that's about it! Here's the lyrics as I found them on Google search: It's a long distance phone And I feel so alone Here without him. Its a crime and a shame That I ain't got the change And don't you know that I`m worried about him. I've been all over street Every street, up and down Looking for the man. It's just a face in the crowd Where the traffic roars loud But don't you know he'd be Proud to give a helping hand. Chorus: Mister, can you Fnd it in your heart To lend me a dollar For the times have been slow I'm fresh outta dough And I ain't got the Money to call him. I threw my pride out the door 'Cause I've been turned down before But I'll keep trying. This kind of pain is Kind of hard to explain But the feeling's the same As like dying. Chorus: Mister, can you Fnd it in your heart To lend me a dollar For the times have been slow I'm fresh outta dough And I ain't got the Money to call him. You put the change in my hand You're the world's kindest man And I thank you, Sir. You'll never know what you've done For this poor mother's son A thirsty man just got a Cold cup of water. Chorus: Mister, can you Fnd it in your heart To lend me a dollar For the times have been slow I'm fresh outta dough And I ain't got the Money to call him. Chorus: Mister, can you Fnd it in your heart To lend me a dollar For the times have been slow I'm fresh outta dough And I ain't got the Money to call him... Thanks to all!
  3. Hey, I actually thought of one myself! How about "My baby does the hanky panky"? LOL!!!
  4. I LIKE BEER by Tom T. Hall In some of my songs i have casually mentioned The fact that i like to drink beer This little song is more to the point Roll out the barrel and lend me your ears (Chorus:) I like beer. it makes me a jolly good fellow I like beer. it helps me unwind and sometimes it makes me feel mellow (makes him feel mellow) Whiskey's too rough, champagne costs too much, vodka puts my mouth in gear This little refrain should help me explain as a matter of fact i like beer (he likes beer) My wife often frowns when we're out on the town And i'm wearing a suit and a tie She's sipping vermouth and she thinks i'm uncouth When i yell as the waiter goes by (Chorus) Last night i dreamed that i passed from the scene And i went to a place so sublime Aw, the water was clear and tasted like beer Then they turned it all into wine I like beer. it makes me a jolly good fellow I like beer. it helps me unwind and sometimes it makes me feel mellow (makes him feel mellow) Whiskey's too rough, champagne costs too much, and vodka puts my mouth in gear Aw, this little refrain should help me explain as a matter of fact i love beer (yes, he likes beer)
  5. Foggy Mountain Breakdown by Earl Scruggs and Friends Man those dudes can play some stringed instruments!!!
  6. LOL!!! You guys really know your tunes!!! Thanks for all the titles! Rock on!!!!! :guitar: JL64
  7. I've been listening to "The Boxer" by Simon & Garfunkel. For about the last minute or so, they repeat "Lie-la-lie" many times. I was trying to think of other songs that do this. I thought of "Hey Jude", "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" by Journey and then looked up "The Boxer" here on Songfacts and saw that "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Sittin' On The Dock fo The Bay" were mentioned. Can you think of any other songs that fill space by repeating a phrase or such over and over again? I'd love to hear them! Thanks! JL64 PS-I hope I put this in the correct section!
  8. Thanks! Does anyone know where "Lonesome Valley" by Buck Owens can be downloaded online? It's not on iTunes or You Tube. Thanks again! JL64
  9. Thank you all for searching for me! I'll let him know about the "Lonesome Valley" song too! And thanks for the welcome also! I love this board! JL64
  10. Earlier I mistakenly wrote "Merle Haggard" rather than "Buck Owens" in the subject bar of my message and carried on the mistake in the actual message! Bummer!! What I was SUPPOSED to ask is this: Did BUCK OWENS ever record "Lonesome Traveler"? If anyone knows or finds out, thanks for your help! jl1964
  11. Oh Lucky! I feel soooooooooooooooooo bad to tell you this after you searched long and hard, but I made a really stupid mistake! I was supposed to type in Buck Owens, NOT MH! I had "Lonesome Fugitive" on my mind when I wrote the message and so put Merle's name by accident! I'll have to re-ask the question, but properly this time! Again, thank you so much and I do apologize for the trouble you went through because of my big boo-boo!! jl1964
  12. A friend of mine asked me if Merle Haggard ever recorded the song "Lonesome Traveler". He said he's been unable to find it on any of Merle's discography listings. Does anyone know the answer? I'd love to help out this friend that's helped me so much! Thanks! jl1964
