  1. "From A Lover To A Friend"- Paul McCartney. Good stuff.
  2. I think the solo in "Faithfully" is a very nice solo. It suits the song very well. Just cause it's not an unbelievable shredfest doesn't mean it's a worthless solo. You have to take the music where it needs to go and I think Neil Schon did that.
  3. moe. has a large cult following. Good jam band.
  4. Bob Dylan's "Thunder On The Mountain" "I was thinking about Alicia Keys, couldn't keep from crying When she was born in Hell's Kitchen, I was living down the line I'm wondering where in the world Alicia Keys could be I been looking for her even clear through Tennessee" Weirdest shout out ever.
  5. I have never been happier to have Wes Welker, Mike Sims-Walker and Larry Fitzgerald as my starting WRs. They did some work for me this week.
  6. He was playing so many notes so fast. The fact that he has the ability to play like he did on that solo I find incredible in and of itself. I think that guitar solo is one of the greatest. I mean, it really was one of the first times that someone played THAT fast. I mean, it had been done before but, especially live, that solo is incredible. And, it inspired Eddie Van Halen to use finger tapping and we all know where that got him and the finger tapping technique.
  7. "Visitation" by Division Day. Great album. Anybody heard of it?
  8. I think it's strange that "Cult of Personality" is on there. I think that guitar solo is quite good. I think the question is what does constitute a good solo? I mean, is it a solo that requires a great amount of talent to play? One that musically is very good? I don't know. I think it varies. I mean, "Cult of Personality" isn't very musical of a guitar solo but it's not meant to be. It's just straight shredding. And "Do You Feel Like We Do" is 13 minutes long. It's pretty much all guitar solo. And it's not about the solo, it's about the talkbox. That was only the second time a talkbox had been used in popular music. It was invented for Joe Walsh for "Rocky Mountain Way" and was given to Frampton.
  9. Haha against Metallica too. That makes me laugh every time I hear about it.
  10. There's the whistle solo in Paul McCartney's "Dance Tonight". And there's the one in "Daydream" by Lovin' Spoonful.
  11. I listened to The Who Live At Leeds the other day. Definitely one of the best live albums I've ever heard.
  12. Then again there is The Man Who Sold The World, Lodger, and Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps). But those combined with Low, Hunky Dory, and Ziggy Stardust are the best Bowie albums to date.
  13. I still think no album of his will ever match Hunky Dory and Low.
  14. Thank God. You know, Guitar Magazine did a list of not only the greatest guitarists of all time but the greatest unknown guitarists of all time. I wish I could find the unknown guitarists list, it had some good names. The guy from Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen was on there.
  15. I personally find it ridiculous that Rush and The Moody Blues are not in the Hall of Fame. I agree with everyone on that top ten list except the Beastie Boys. I just don't think they're that talented. Not to mention that Chicago and Cheap Trick are not on the list. They need to be in the Hall of Fame.
  16. I'm too lazy to read all this. Hopefully someone has mentioned Mark Knopfler, Steve Vai, Jan Akkerman (from Focus), Franny Beecher (from Bill Haley & His Comets) and Terry Cath?
  17. So there's this band out of L.A. called Shaimus. I'm thinking everyone should check them out, they're incredibly good. Very talented. It's like indie music with a dash of classic rock. Very good band. You may recognise a song or two of theirs from guitar hero where they had "All Of This" or Rock Band 2 where they had "Like A Fool" which was one of the free downloads. Check them out here: www.shaimus.com
  18. Saw this article in Rolling Stone a little while back http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/09/28/readers-rock-list-who-should-be-nominated-for-rock-hall/ Opinions?
  19. Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good music talk podcasts. I've been looking around and it's a bit hard to wade through the thousands of podcasts that are given by anyone with access to a Radioshack. I've already found Get The Led Out and Concert Blast, but I was wondering if anyone knew any others. Thanks.
