  2. I place that track 4th our of 6th (ahead of "Peaches en Regalia" and "It Must Be a Camel") - 8/10 "Vita Voom" by Ozric Tentacles
  3. "Junior's Farm" by Galactic Cowboys. I love good cover versions, especially done by great bands.
  4. I've been playing my Zappa CDs as of late. I plan on hearing them all once again. I just finished with "Them or Us" and never realized how really good it is. I'd say its one of his best from the 80s. Back in the 80s, I just let it fly under the radar. I did bring it out in the 90s but again it just didn't click. And now after more than a decade, well what can I say. I'm not bothering with boots but may do a couple of compilations. So far, I've played through 32 albums in chronological order. I skipped "Absolutely Free" and "Cruising With Ruben & the Jets" but will go back to them. Soooo, next in line is "Frank Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention." The albums I've also skipped (either because I have it only on vinyl or just don't want to bother) are... 200 Motels Orchestral Favorites Baby Snakes London Symphony Orchestra Vol. 1 Boulez Conducts Zappa: The Perfect Stranger And since I'm going from "Them or Us" right to "Frank Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention," means I'm also not bothering with... Francesco Zappa Thing-Fish I'll probably stop at "Ahead of Their Time" but may do "The Yellow Shark."

  7. "Vinegar Shake" is the band but as far as info goes, nothing officially released. Here is vid but not the same tune. Another tune... Instead of taking the credit here, I found that info here -> Clicky And this band's myspace -> Clicky again and a few more tracks. Might have the one you're after ~
  8. gold-UN-Fish - LMAO, folks I wasn't serious. It just reminded me of my phobia and merely wanted to know if I'm not alone for suffering a strange phobia. Then again, I guess all phobias could be considered strange.
  9. We're close but not the material or the balloons in fact - I cannot be anywhere if a balloon pops but if so, I need to plug my ears and look away. I suppose its more to do with that element of surprise but other loud happenings don't bother as much as balloons popping. Errrrrr, I loathe them when they pop.
  10. Its okay - I just didn't see the connection until I realized the fish names and thought about my strange phobia. In other words, just wonderin' who else has phobias. Last night when I dropped off my son at his Mom's, there was this HUGE spider dangling off a tree! I almost walked into it and even though I don't find them terrifying, it did freak me for a bit. Gosh it was huge - not huge like scorpions but like a june bug (june beetle).
  11. "Wolf's Return" by Grand Magus and now "You May Be Right" by the Grapes of Wrath
  12. ... that I suffer ichthyophobia (fear of fish). I am not kiddin' either. It was just a few minutes ago that I noticed the cutesy monikers under our amount of postings. And like Sesame Street, I put two and two together = (insert scream of agony). But seriously, I've had this fear since childhood. I can eat fish as long as it comes frozen (beheaded and scaled of course) or canned. I will not go fishing and if I do, I need to wear at least 5 gloves or something so I can't feel the sense of a fish nibbling on the hook. Just typing and thinking of that is making my skin crawl. Also, pics of ugly fish really friggin' freak me out. Soooooo, I guess I'm stuck with those fish names. DANG! And soooooooo, anyone else with a phobia?
  13. I've been playing my FZ discs of late (been scrobbling some of them when I remember to turn it on ) and glad I didn't recommend 'Studio Tan'. Oh, its not a bad album (7/10) but I certainly wouldn't recommend at an early stage. I prefer "Billy the Mountain" (from 'Just Another Band from L.A.) over "The Adventures of Greggery Peccary" if story-based, 20+ minute tracks are your thing.
  14. Um, are you aiming that post at me? This site for some reason or another crawls at times and took like a few minutes just to get my one post in. Okay, now that was strange. This reply was for a post that has vanished. Must be a ghost in here.

  17. You probably meant "Gary's Guitar Solo" which was atrociously left off the CD issue (also "Little Queenie") from one of my favourite 'live' albums -> Live: You Get What You Play For I still own my vinyl edition but still to this day, both those tracks have not been officially released on CD. Such a shame really.
  18. I just looked over the tracklisting and safe to say that's a pretty good breakdown on the title (commercial). And then on the other hand, you'll have fans bemoaning "But you gotta listen to his jazz-fusion..." If I were to be accosted right now, I would recommend: 1) 'Over-nite Sensation' album and start with the track "Zomby Woof" and "Montana." And then play the rest of the album. If you do like what you hear and want to further investigate, you may also enjoy the following albums... Zoot Allures, One Size Fits All, Joe's Garage, etc. 2) If you like the above but need to also hear all about his great jazz-fusion... Roxy & Elsewhere, The Grand Wazoo, Waka/Jawaka, Hot Rats, etc. 3) If you like both 1 & 2 but need a bit more quirkiness... Apostrophe ('), Chunga's Revenge, etc. Of course, I only just touched the surface and missed other inclusions like Sleep Dirt, Sheik Yerbouti, The Man from Utopia, Just Another Band from L.A., Burnt Weeny Sandwich, etc. And again, just an opinion but for starters I wouldn't (just yet) venture off with Lumpy Gravy (unless you really love stuff like the Beatles' "Revolution #9," etc), Orchestral Favorites, etc.
  19. "Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year" - Fall Out Boy
  20. I'm all for war films. Also, I just finished reading the last 8 pages but wondering why "Dumb and Dumber" wasn't nominated - or yet "Team America: World Police," "Scary Movie (all 4 of them)," etc. I know I'm late for the party but here would of been my top 10 from your selection with the number in brackets off your finished standing. 1) The 40 Year Old Virgin (29) 2) Superbad (33) 3) This is Spinal Tap (12) 4) Groundhog Day (10) 5) Blazing Saddles (6) 6) American Pie (26) 7) A Fish Called Wanda (15) 8) The Ringer (36) 9) What About Bob? (21) 10) Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke (17)
