  5. "Bored Teenagers" - The Adverts (1978) "...We talk about the whys and wherefores. Do we really care at all? Talk about the frailty of words Is rarely meaningful, When we're sitting watching the 'planes Burn up through the night like meteorites. We're just bored teenagers. Looking for love, Or should I say emotional rages. Bored teenagers, Seeing ourselves as strangers." "Followed the Waves" - Melissa Auf Der Maur (2004)

  9. Quite sad indeed. I loved his first two albums especially, and though he was obviously troubled, he was very gifted and he'll be missed.
  10. Decent show. I thought Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin did OK, the acting award winners were fairly predicable, though I was somewhat hoping Jeremy Renner would win Best Actor for The Hurt Locker, excellent performance: "There's enough bang in there to blow us all to Jesus. If I'm gonna die, I want to die comfortable." And I'm very happy it upset for Best Picture/Director, partly because I too don't care much for James Cameron personally or many of his movies for that matter. Avatar was alright but The Hurt Locker is one of my recent favourites and it's one of the best war movies I've ever seen, particularly of those dealing with Iraq. I think I reviewed it somewhere here last year, highly recommended. Up in the Air and Inglourious Basterds were good too but not really Oscar-worthy I thought (excepting Christoph Waltz), so their losses weren't a surprise. Up was a given for Best Animated and deservedly so. Loved it.

Touching from a distance, Further all the time." "Etude Op. 10 No. 3 in E Major (Tristesse)" - Frederic Chopin (1832) "In all my life I have never again been able to find such a beautiful melody." - Chopin
  16. An episode of Charlie Brooker's Newswipe featuring "the fair and balanced newsmen of dystopian future, sci-fi, satirical, shouty porn sledgehammer channel Fox News". I love the Bill O'Reilly Inside Edition outtake: "I don't what that means, 'to play us out', what does that mean?...We'll do it live!... DO IT LIVE!".
  17. I was saying "Crosby had better score the winning goal" after they let the lead slip and since he had been kind of floating around for most of the game. Perhaps karma just wanted a happy ending for Canada.
  18. ^ I know right, but perhaps the third week in a row is the charm. Otherwise nice ten, good to see my favourite Gorillaz song up there as well as the Stooges, Neil Young and really the only Duran Duran song I like: emotionally convincing, musically compelling... y'know, generally un-Duran Duranesque. "Get Free" was a nice surprise too.
  19. That was embarrassing for their skip, two bad shots cost them what should have been a somewhat certain win... but at least the men did do better. And with 13 gold metals their looking to break the all-time Winter Olympic record today.
  20. "Your Racist Friend" - They Might Be Giants "Holy man tiptoed his way across the Ganges The sound of magic music in his ears Videoded by a bus load of tourists Shinny shellsuits and drinking lemonade Now I got a funny feeling Which I bought mail order"
  21. 1967 "Break on Through (To the Other Side)" - The Doors
