I remember hearing that too, obviously didn't take much notice of what the lyrics were actually saying.

If we know any facts about an album title such as what it means or what inspired it is there a section we can add them? Or should we just add them to songs from that album? if there isn't a dedicated section for that already would you consider developing one in the future? and would anyone else like to see one?

And there's "Another Saturday Night" by Cat Stevens, a popular day amongst song writers it seems. There's also "I don't Like Monday's" by the Boom Town Rats.

And I also notice at the end of the song it doesn't say he died they leave it open ended "Now rocky raccoon he fell back in his room Only to find gideons bible Gideon checked out and he left it no doubt To help with good rockys revival" the word "revival" suggests he might have lived anyway.

I've never heard this verse of lyin eye's ever, which is ridiculous in 2008 really. I can't think of any songs that have had verses taken out off the top of my head but I know "Brown Eyed Girl" was meant to be "Brown Skinned Girl", but the concept of a mixed race relationship was too much in 1967 apparently so it had to change. Bizarrely some quite controversial songs got radio play in Britain because or censors didn't notice things. Like they somehow managed to miss the many references to transvestism and drugs in "Walk On The Wild Side". And "Space Oditty" by David Bowie was taken off the radio because of the space programme going on at the time not because it is one huge reference to someone dying of a heroin over dose (hence "we know major Toms A Junky" in "Ashes to Ashes")

There's a Beatles song called "Eight Days A Week" That's pretty inclusive.

Yes she's called Lil apparently, though why they all know her as Nancy is a mystery as the name is a variable of Anne or Anna and nothing to do with the name Lil. And if I recall correctly doesn't her boyfriend die? so still not exactly a happy ending. There is a Fairport Convention (or it might be Fotheringay) song called "The Banks Of The Nile" with a Nancy who doesn't die, but her boyfriend has to go to war so he probably dies.

I wouldn't really say any of their songs were unlikely they were so good But I do like "Fool In The Rain". "Ramble On" is another favourite of mine that doesn't get much of a mention anywhere so you could call that unlikely.

Hello there I'm Nancy from the Isle Of wight, stumbled across the site trying to find out if a certain song was based on truth or not and love the place, will be returning often. I have 2 cats and am training as a singer (just about to do grade 2) and learning the piano. I never know what to write in intro's, any questions please ask.

In Rock And Roll and literature women called Nancy never seem to do very well, In the Leonard Cohen song she shoots herself (and sounds like a bit of a slag), in The Deep Purple song she's apparently a hooker and dies, and who could forget Nancy Spungeon's death. And in Literature she doesn't do much better, dying in a domestic murder near the end of "Oliver Twist". Being called Nancy myself I'm morbidly fascinated by this and managed to find out today from this site if the Deep Purple song was a true story or not, and apparently it is thanks for clearing that one up for me. I just wanted to know if anyone knows how the woman in "Strange Kind Of Woman" died, I know it was 3 days after she got married so presumably it was drug/drink/one hell of a party related but I can find no confirmation of that. Does anyone know?
