These two are fairly bad, but the others are so much worse! LOL
"We're gonna get the biggest record deal in the industry... because we're smart."

I put the lyrics to Somebody's Knocking in the other thread by wineguy. I don't see any unusual phrases, honestly.

I think this was answered in the other thread.

Here Comes the Sun?

I didn't post this one earlier because it didn't really reference literature, but since songs based on literature are also allowed, how's about Nirvana's Scentless Apprentice inspired by Perfume? One of my favourite favourite Nirvana songs.
She Blinded Me with Science, then.

These lyrics?
Somebody's knocking should I let him inLord it's the devil would you look at him
I've heard about him but I never dreamed
He'd have blue eyes and blue jeans
Well somebody's talking he's whispering to me
Your place or my place well which will it be
I'm getting weaker and he's coming on strong
But I don't wanta go wrong
He must have tapped my telephone line
He must have known I’m spending my time alone
He says we'll have one heavenly night
My fever's burning so he ought to be right at home
Somebody's knocking should I let him in
Lord it's the devil would you look at him
I've heard about him but I never dreamed
He'd have blue eyes and blue jeans
He must have tapped my telephone line
He must have known I’m spending my time alone
He says we'll have one heavenly night
My fever's burning so he ought to be right at home
Somebody's knocking
Somebody’s knocking
Somebody’s knocking

The Necromancer by Rush
the end of Young Lust by Pink Floyd has a telephone conversation
Cult of Personality by Living Colour has audio clips of famous speeches

Nobody's yet mentioned Ring Around Your Finger by the Police.
I always considered that as an allusion to the Lord of the Rings, until I read the Three Musketeers. It fits much better with the latter, most notably that D'Artagnan recognizes the female antagonist by her ring.

Draggin' the Line by Tommy James
Makin' a living the old hard wayTakin' and giving by day by day
I dig snow and rain and bright sunshine
Draggin' the line (draggin' the line)
My dog Sam eats purple flowers
We ain't got much but what we got's ours
We dig snow and rain and bright sunshine
Draggin' the line (draggin' the line)
Draggin' the line (draggin' the line)
I feel fine I'm talkin' bout peace of mind
I'm gonna take my time I'm gettin' the good sign
Draggin' the line (draggin' the line)
Draggin' the line (draggin' the line)
Loving the free and feelin' spirit
Of huggin' a tree when you get near it
Diggin' the snow and rain and bright sunshine

Are we including single artists, like Rick Springfield & Olivia Newton-John?

ledzep, dire straits, ... according to rumors 2009 will be THE reunion year
Any good bands planning to reunite?

I wouldn't expect anyone to be a nickelback fan.
Oh man, that's classic!

I need a lover who won't drive me crazy by John Cougar?

I still say Rush's Counterparts takes the cake. I just can't listen to anything on the album at all, and I like just about all their other material.
-
I refuse to dignify that with a response, other than this reponse.

Day Too Soon by Sia has the line
Darling I will stitch you...

BF jogged my memory ~ the song "Fire" by the Pointer Sisters... "Now Romeo and Juliet, Samson and Delilah, baby you can bet, a love they couldn't deny."
Bruce Springsteen wrote & performed Fire before the Pointer Sisters got hold of it.

This thread is light years ahead of its time.

that was about as easy as it gets. No fair, Martin, leave the easy ones for me.
Well, that's all right by me.

Now you guys have me all confused! Where the name of sweet Luke and Laura am I supposed to turn!

Don't bother with that. Go here: Pace Foods homepage , go to the contact page, and ask them if they have the commercial you seek on file.

I heard Bill Gates has one. E-mail him for it.

Day Tripper (The Beatles)
I think "I Feel Fine" is a better example of a well-recognized riff than Day Tripper.
But what about Roxanne by the Police?
